je viens de regarder sur mes archives de mon voyage de 2007 et pour te donner un ordre d'idée la location d'une electra glide ( chez eagle rider) avec les assurances sitées plus haut par Philippe (impérative a mon sens pour t'éviter des gros problèmes en cas de pépins) plus les frais d'abandons plus les taxes locales.......enfin la totale :
Attention........$192/j. soit environs 150€/j.
eagle rider ont un site trés bien fait ou tu pourras faire une simulation trés précise.

Je relance le débat, ayant moi-même un projet de location de HD pour faire Los Angeles-San Francisco. Ce serait 5 jours : LA->SF par la route 1 puis le retour (étant donné les fees conséquentes si je la rends ailleurs).
Je m'adresse ici aux vieux routard de la Harley, car si c'est pour moi un rêve d'enfant que d'en avoir une dans les mains, je vais dans l'inconnu, ne possédant qu'une 800 VX Suzuk... Que me conseilleriez-vous pour débuter, entre :
La Dyna Wide Glide, qui j'avoue a ma préférence, avec son style de conduite un peu chopper sage. Est-elle assez confortable, notamment pour ma passagère sur les longs trajets ?
L'héritage Softail Classic, qui semble faire l'unanimité du point de vue confort, mais avec un poids carrément conséquent, qui me fait me demander si je saurais la manier en basse vitesse (ville !).
J'ai écarté la Fat Boy, qui je pense cumule les 2 (erreur ?)
Le voyagiste West forever travaille en collaboration avec certains concessionnaires HD en France. Ceux-ci proposent des essais pour aider les éventuels clients dans leur choix ...

As tu beaucoup de bagages à transporter ?
Si oui, tu n'as pas trop le choix :
c'est l'Electra-Glide, un peu moins imposante qu'un camion, elle en a le comportement à l'arrêt, mais se conduit très bien dès les premiers kilomètres/heure. De plus un confort Pullman.
Autrement que tu prenne une RoadKing ou une Softail Heritage le poids ne change pas beaucoup et toute deux sont confartable et ont des sacoches.
Je ne connais pas la Dyna et je ne peux donc pas te renseigner.
Par contre je connais bien le Fat Boy, j'ai fait 3500 Kms avec suite à une panne d'alternateur sur la RoadKing (Eagle n'avait rien d'autre à me proposer en remplacement de la RK à cause de Sturgis). A 2 ces un peu tape-cul à la longue, mais contrairement aux autres c'est un vrai vélo, elle est très maniable et légère. Problème pas de sacoches juste un sac qui se fixé sur le dosseret du sissi-bar et qui balancait un peu dans les virages en montagne.
Donc si tu veux confort, maniabilité et cool-attitude je te conseillerais de prendre le Softail Heritage. En plus elle est superbe !

Michel, nous n'aurons pas trop de bagages, seulement pour nos 5j de RoadTrip car logeons à LA. Du coup la Fat Boy paraît un bon compromis du point de vue maniabilité.
Plus qu'à avoir un avis sur la Dyna...Pensez-vous qu'ils installent un dosseret sur toutes les motos ? Celle là n'en a pas en série, et je suppose que c'est un grand plus sur le passager.
west forever retient ses motos chez eaglerider comme la quasi totalité des voyagistes .
le plus simple est d'aller dans une concession HD proche de chez toi pour voir et essayer .
la road king ou l'heritage est un minimum pour les bagages, meme de 5 jours seulement . surtout à 2 (le confort !)

Je viens de regarder sur le site d'EagleRider, dans les spécifications du Fat Boy, il est dit qu'il n'y a pas de dosseret pour le passager ( celle que EG de Las Vegas m'avait apporté en avait un, mais il l'ont peut-être equipée pour l'occasion).
La Dyna ne l'a pas non plus.
Par contre l'Heritage en est équipée.
EagleRider est le loueur de motos aux USA.
Je suis aussi parti avec WestForEver qui louait à l'époque directement chez Harley.
Pour être tranquille, Eagle est très bien, c'est son métier et il le fait très bien.
Encore que toi, tu vas rester dans la même région donc pas trop de problème en cas de panne.
Mais tu peux toujours demander un devis à WestForEver, ils ont peut-être des prix intêressants.
Il est fortement conseillé de prendre les assurances EVIP et SLI en compèment. Ca plombe la facture, mais en cas d'accident tu ne le regretteras pas si tu tombe sur quelqu'un qui te réclame plusieurs millions de dollars😕
Le drop-off est d'environ $300, mais ça te permet de varier ta route en rendant la moto dans un autre état et donc de découvrir une autre région.
La location de la moto revient moins cher si tu la loue une semaine. Le rapport prix/jour devient plus intêressant.
Nous partons le 26 mai et avons loué nos motos (20 jours) par l'intermédiaire de West Forever, légèrement plus cher que directement par Eagles, mais nous avons pu prendre une assurance annulation impossible chez eagles, je peux te dire le tarif a la journée : 142 Euros
J'ai été voir HD à Bastille, et je crois, en effet, que l'Heritage Softail est la mieux adaptée à mon "cahier des charges".
Fanfan, j'ai comparé les prix pour les 5 jours Eaglerider LA : 5 jours avec EVIP+SLI = 909$ = 700€ Westforever : 5j avec SLI+rachat de franchise = 755€ (777€ si assurance annulation)
Soit 8% de plus qu'Eaglerider. L'intermédiaire Westforever a-t'il une valeur ajoutée, sachant que je sais à peu près me débrouiller aux USA ?
Non, il n'y a pas de valeur ajoutée avec west Forever, mais j'ai réservé chez eux tous simplement car je voulai une assurance annulation (Parents agés et cardiaques....... on ne sait jamais ce qui peux arriver lorsqu'on réserve plus 2 mois a l'avance) et puis, nous ne parlons pas très bien anglais, donc en cas de litige c'est toujours mieux d'avoir un interlocuteur français. Et important aussi la caution de 300 Euros. Combien par Eagle? Bon, normalement on ne va pas la bas pour qu'il nous arrive quelque chose........

Si tu prends l'assurance EVIP et SLI, la franchise chez Eagle est de 1000$.

Philippe a dû oublié, mais moi lorsque je suis parti avec West les motos venaient d'un concessionnaire HD (Bartels de L.A pour ne pas le nommer).
Je ne sais pas si tu as le même service en cas de pépin en te rendant chez un autre concessionnaire HD que d'une agence Eagle à une autre. Je n'ai pas eu d'expérience dans ce sens. Quand je suis tombé en panne avec la RoadKing à Page, le lendemain matin un camion est parti de Vegas (ou j'avais loué) avec une moto et vers 16h j'avais une moto de remplacement.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
