Je pars 20 jours en mai : Hanoi - Sapa - Dong Van - Ha Giang, Lac Babe, Baie Halong et Hoi An avec une agence locale !

Le mois Mai, à mon avis c'est une assez bonne période pour voyager au Nord du Vietnam. Bienqu'il pleuve parfois mais c'est pas trop grave.
Le Mai est aussi la saison de versement de l'eau dans les rizières en terrasse sur les régions montageuses du Nord.
La baie de Halong en mai, hmm, assez touristique.
Mais je voudrais demander si vous avez fixé le temps de votre voyage ou non? Si vous partez au Vietnam plus tôt, en Avril ca serait mieux je crois.

Avril ????? ça dépend sur quel morceau du mois - j'en ai passé des mois d'avril à Hanoi..... - c'est vrai qu'à partir du 18-20, ça va, la chaleur arrive, le soleil réapparait quelquefois, mais sur le début du mois, et avant le 8-10, c'est du temps et de l'argent de perdus : encore les pluies fines et tenaces, peu de chaleur, pas de soleil.... - j'ai vérifié ça plusieurs fois car j'étais si impatiente de venir de France que j'avais sauté dans le premier avion pour le 1er avril.....- ben quelle déception - surtout lorsque mon chauffeur de taxi à Moc Bai me disait.... qu'il pleuvait comme ça depuis des jours et des jours.... - on ne voit guère une éclaircie qu'à partir du15, - à moins que le temps n'ait complètement changé depuis 3 ans que j'ai déserté Ha Noi pour le sud ????

"La période sèche"..... ça m'amuse.... moi qui arpente du nord au sud, je vois que cette fameuse période...est un espèce de serpent de mer - Lorsque vous êtes au sud, comme moi, on vous dit "avril : début de mousson"; bon le touriste, et moi à la base, on se dit :"mousson", c'est l'Inde....🤪 hahaha - en réalité depuis trois ans que j'y suis, j'ai eu deux mois d'avril sans un goutte d'eau et une année où début mai, il ne pleuvait pas encore - Et encore, faut-il relativiser la pluie... - ce n'est pas du tout tous les jours, ce n'est que quelques deux ou troisheures dans la journée d'ans l'après-midi, et on peut vivre le restant du temps absolument normalement.
Pour revenir au Nord, début avril, je vous garantis que ce n'est pas la saison sèche, c'est plutôt la petite pluie crachine-bretonne..... - Pour avoir tenu un blog pendant des années, je peux même dire que jamais il ne fait beau, ni sec, ni chaud avant minimum le 8 avril......😐 - Non votre période de début mai est parfaite.... - avez-vous bien arrêté votre projet ????car à cette période tout est bien rempli étant donné les fêtes au Vietnam...et la transhumance des locaux.

Oui tout est déjà arrangé pour moi : j'arrive à HANOI après le 1er mai càd le 4 mai au soir les congés du 1er mai seront passées, je sais qu'il y a le 7 mai la fête de la victoire, et le 19 mai l'anniversaire de Ho Chi Minh ! Je pars avec une agence qui a déjà tout programmé pour nous puisque nous serons 6 avec un guide francophone et le chauffeur ! Vers le 19 mai nous serons à HOI AN, ensuite le 21 la baie d'Along !
Je crois que pour le temps c'est une loterie : ma nièce est partie à Hanoi au mois de mars et elle a eu 40° sans une goutte de pluie !
Je suis née à Saigon il y a 60 ans, revenue en France à l'âge de 5 ans, et depuis je n'y suis plus retournée ! Pour moi une émotion et une découverte, aussi j'espère que le temps sera de la partie ! Quelques averses ne me font pas peur, le crachin qui dure longtemps et la brume toute la journée je n'espère pas !
Le sud ce sera pour un autre voyage ! On ne peut tout faire au pas de course !
Si vous avez d'autres infos sur ma période ce sera avec plaisir ! Et la Baie d'Along l'avez-vous faite dans de bonnes conditions, bien qu'on dit que c'est souvent brumeux !

Oui c'est une vraie loterie maintenant cette météo, surtout je trouve depuis trois ou quatre ans.... - avant mon départ en janvier 2013 dans un froid sibérien d'Ha-Noi, par le premier vol... il avait fait une période de Noël où nous étions quasiment en maillot....... - de la folie... - Enfin, je me contente de donner les généralités constatées depuis 2003 sur Hanoi où je suis restée assez longtemps.- maintenant, il faut noter de grosses différences..... mais ça ?? pas de boule de cristal 🤪
Je croise les doigts pour vous, mais franchement il n'y aura pas de pluie fine et froide de l'aube a couchant à l'époque où vous partez..
Vous me dites reveniez pour la première fois ????? - vous êtes née à Saigon, : lorsque vous y retournerez, vous ne reconnaitrez RIEN.... - c'est autre chose, on ne peut pas pleurer sur les fantômes du passé.... ils ne sont pas toujours meilleurs que l'époque actuelle.... - ça va vous choquer, le moment venu, mais je trouve cette ville très belle par son activité, sa volonté de vivre, quelquefois de survivre, sa population gaie (al contrario d'Ha Noi🤪, que je trouvais superbe.... tant que j'y étais et que je n'avais pas goûté au sud....)- -
Pour revenir à notre Baie d'Ha-Long, je l'ai faite la première fois dans les tout premiers jours de janvier en 2004, très beau temps, pas de brume, un soleil presque chaud, je l'ai faite en mai, en juin, jamais de brume... - tout au plus, l'été, tôt le matin un léger brouillard fin qui s'est dissipé et qui n'était que de la brume de chaleur - à vrai dire, je ne l'ai jamais vue dans le brouillard, mais je pense qu'elle doit l'être à partir du 15 janvier jusqu'en mars-avril bon poids.... (sauf exception : j'entends déjà des clameurs....😇)

Les autres temps peuvent répondre le besoin de Nunuphar63 mais pourquoi on ne profite pas le mois le plus proche pour changer plus facilement le circuit? 😉

Il fait très chaud et ensoleillé toute la journée au nord du Vietnam en Mai bien que ce soit le passage de temps entre le printemps et l’été. La température diurne est environ de 25-33oC, et à la fois 35-36oC pendant que la température nocturne est moins de 25oC. Parfois, il fait des averses, il convient que vous apportiez toujours un petit parapluie et un imperméable léger.

Je suis en train de voyager dans le Nord du Vietnam en Mai et je vous assure que le Mai est un tres bon mois pour le faire.
Voici mon itineraire: Hanoi - Mu Cang Chai - Sapa - Bac Ha - Xin Man - Hoang Su Phi - Ha Giang - Dong Van - Meo Vac - Bao Lac - Cao Bang - Hanoi. Je vais termnier mon voyage dans quelques jours et je le fais en bus local 😎
Les rizieres en terrasses à Mu Cang Chai
J'ai reste chez l'habitant à Ban Me, près de la ville de Ha Giang. Le village etait tellement calme et beau :D
J'ai fait plusieurs fois ce tour ; après Bao Lac, vs pouvez continuer effectivemnt sur Cao Bang pour les belles chutes de Ban Gioc et ensuite lac Babe OU aller directement au lac Babe, car CB est un grand détour nord-est . Aller à Cao Bang ajoute 2 jours au tour.
Noter qu'en bus publics, c'est une galère après Dong Van.!
Méfiez-vous de la vie, car les ratés ne vous rateront pas!
Pour cet itinéraire vous devez compter deux semaines pleines, si vous rajoutez Ban Gioc et le lac Ba Bé il vous faudra rajouter ne semaine de plus.
Mettre moins de temps à faire ces itinéraires voudrait dire ne faire que du bus sans bien profiter des treks possibles et de la vie locale.
Hanoi - Mu Cang Chai - Sapa - Bac Ha - Xin Man - Hoang Su Phi - Ha Giang - Dong Van - Meo Vac - Bao Lac - Hanoi
+ Cao Bang pour les belles chutes de Ban Gioc et ensuite lac Babe OU aller directement au lac Babe depuis Bao Lac
Aller à Cao Bang ajoute 2/3 jours
Sachez aussi qu'il n'y a pas de bus réguliers entre Méo Vac et Bao Lac, vous devrez revenir à Ha Giang pour aller à Bao Lac par une autre route....ou prendre un taxi ou une moto taxi pour le 70 km entre meo vac et bao lac.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

But after checking various weather sites and reading accounts, I’m a bit worried about rain, which can apparently be frequent and heavy in February. I’d love to hear from travelers or locals who’ve been there recently.

Also, it’s best to avoid visiting the wadis on weekends—does that mean Saturday and Sunday?
This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.
Which region would you recommend?

I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ),
We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.
In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry.
