Mon amie et moi-même (25 et 27 ans) avons prévu de nous faire un petit road-trip à la découverte du Bénin et du Togo.
Le tout ne devrait malheureusement durer qu'une douzaine de jours et nous nous demandions quel serait d'après-vous l'itinéraire le plus intéressant depuis Cotonou, sachant que nous comptons faire nos trajets en moto 125cc (une chacun).
A savoir que nous avons tous les deux déjà bourlingué de cette manière, mais en Amérique du Sud et Asie.
Auriez vous des bons plans de deux-roues à la location, et d'ailleurs ce moyen de transport est-il raisonnablement envisageable ?
non seulement c'est envisageable, mais encore à mon avis c'est LE moyen de transport idéal pour se balader Togo-Bénin.
sur que douze jours, ça va peut-être fait un peu short pour les deux pays. Même en restant dans le sud.
depuis Cotonou, vous pouvez par exemple partir vers Ouidah, remonter ensuite vers le lac Ahémé , Grand Popo, puis rejoindre le poste frontière de Tohoun où vous passez au Togo. (par Djakotomé et Aplahoué : petites routes et pistes, région très belle.
de Tohoun vous rejoignez Notsé puis la très belle région de Kkpalimé (kouma Kounta), vous desendez sur Lomé, et pouvez rejoindre Cotonou.
j'ai fait ça en moto et en taxi brousse.
passer du Bénin au Togo : visa de transit à la frontière (10 000 Fca, 15 euros).
vous devrez prendre un visa béninois double entrée
sinon vous pouveze rester au Bénin
exemple :
de Cotonou, vous partez pour Porto Novo, puis a Adjara, (la rivière noire en pirogue), puis remonter sur le fleuve Ouémé : superbe région avec plein de découvertes à faire. Adjohou, la RN4 jusque Zangnabado puis Abomey et retour sur Cotonou.
bref, l'embarras du choix
par contre, je n'ai pas loué de moto, (passé l'âge, je me contente des taxi-motos, je ne conduis pas).

Je me permets de te demander en parallèle ta pensée globale question sécurité. A ce que je peux lire pas de soucis, mais peut-être as-tu des recommandations particulières !
perso je ne connais pas de loueur de moto.
J'ai un bon copain à Ouidah (Eric, "zion o lac", page facebook) qui lui connait bien du monde, il sera en France cet été, mais il me donnera une adresse fiable si besoin.
sécurité : oui pour l'instant, c'est un pays sur à tout point de vue, le Togo également.
tu peux y aller sans inquiétude.
ça c'est pour ce qui est du terrorisme.
autre forme d’insécurité possible : pas beaucoup mais bon. Dans certains endroits y'a (le soir la nuit principalement) ceux qu'on appelle la-bas des coupeurs de route. genre bandits de grands chemin. On demande à son hébergement : ils savent tout, et conseillent.
mais bon, c'est quand même fort rare.
évitez donc d'être sur les routes seuls le soir et la nuit.
si vous vous faites des copains, ils sauront aussi !
en ville, je n'ai jamais eu de soucis, même le soir tard quand je rentrais chez moi en zem (motos-taxis béninois)
les béninois sont extrêmement gentils, serviables, te renseignent gentiment (mais croise tes renseignements car parfois plutôt que de te dire je ne sais pas, ... ils préfèrent te "renseigner" quand même). moi je demandais toujours à deux personnes différentes.
le Bénin c'est un vraiment top ! moi j'ai adoré (un an en trois séjours)
Bonjour, en voilà une bonne idée de faire un tour au Bénin et au Togo en moto. je l'ai fait personnellement il y a quelques temps il est vrai que c'est le moyen de transport idéal excepté que sur certaines portions il n'y a que la grande route. Personnellement j'ai opté pour mettre la moto dans ou sur le bus pendant certains trajets. les itinéraires proposés par Béatrice sont très bien mais je vous propose également une autre option dans le Nord Bénin. l'idée serait de monter en bus jusqu'à Natitingou et de louer une moto là-bas. j'ai d'ailleurs un contact qui peut vous aider à en trouver une. Le Nord Bénin et très typique et sauvage, une vrai carte postale africaine avec de grandes parties sauvages et de magnifiques paysages. Il y a des Tata Somba, habitat traditionnel un peu partout aux alentours de Boukoumbé.
les pistes sont en terre rouge très belle.
Vous pouvez faire Boukoumbé puis manta et après aller à Tanaugou. si vous avez envie vous pouvez aller également faire un tour dans le parc de la Pendjari histoire de voir les animaux sauvages du Bénin. 4x4 obligatoire par contre. je peux vous aider a en trouver un a bon prix. Et puis après vous revenez sur vos pas et vous traversez au Togo par Boukoumbe. La piste est splendide et bordé de multiples baobab. Au Togo vous pouvez aller jusque Kara puis repasser au Bénin par Djougou et aller visiter les petits villages de tanéka koko puis les chutes de kota.

J'ai pas mal de conseils si vous voulez également sur les hôtels sympas ou même des logement chez l'habitant je voyage très souvent au Bénin et j'ai pas mal de contacts là-bas.
je n'avais pas évoqué le nord, car de monter et redescendre en bus depuis Cotonou, ça mange deux jours, sur douze je pense que ça fait beaucoup, mais bel itinéraire.

sinon, Eric du Zion o lac aussi. garde ses coordonnées (sur facebook) et vois ça sur place en arivant;
le togo : oui bien sur (mais je ne connais pas les conditions pour les motos, par contre)
aux frontières, on peut avoir un visa de transit, sans souci, pour 10 000 Fcfa et valable 7 jours.
une jolie balade à faire : de Ouidah tu montes vers Abomey, puis tu traverses la frontière vers Tohun (c'est de la piste c'est très beau).
tu vas vers Kpalime : le village de Kouma Kounta, et son agro-foresterie, très chouette, adresse : chez Papillon (un entomologiste qui fait faire des visites et qui a une auberge)
ensuite tu redescends sur Lomé et tu reviens à Cotonou par la côte.
en 12 jours, si vous allez aussi au Togo, ça fera juste de monter au Nord. mais sinon, "au cas où" : tu as des arrêts possibles pour y monter, mais ce sera chronophage. on peut se rendre à Natitingou en deux ou trois étapes.
Bonjour. Bon voyage. Pour la moto j'ai un ami sur Cotonou qui peut t'aider à trouver ça. Pour le Togo il faut juste compter 15euros de visa. Et pour aller dans le nord Bénin je te le conseille. Le mieux est de mettre la moto dans le bus ou plus simplement d'en louer une la bas. Tu vas à natitingou en bus ça coûte 15 euros et la bas tu en loues une. Éco Bénin le fait à kousoukingou. C'est une région splendide.

Si tu veux acheter une moto en neuf il faut compter 600e et à partir de 250 d'occasion mais tu risque de galèrer pour la rêvendre vu que tu as Pas beaucoup de temps.

Personnellement j'ai toujours admiré les gens qui voyagent en moto et en même temps ils représentent pour moi une formidable énigme.
Même si je ne pars que 7 jours j'ai la grosse valise de soute (très grosse) + la valise de cabine + le sac reporter gros comme un cartable de prof et pourtant je voyage seul.
Ma foi ? 😐 Mystère...
Mon petit truc : avoir acheté un sac de 50L et me forcer à ne prendre lui et que lui ! Ca fait toujours mal au coeur de laisser des affaires de côté, mais au final on se rend compte que l'on en aurait pas vraiment eu besoin 🙂

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.

Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
