Nous prévoyons, ma femme et moi-même de faire un "petit" séjour au Maroc les deuxièmes et troisième semaine de Juillet 2010. Nous projetons de faire ce voyage en compagnie de notre monture la fameuse "BMW 1200 GS".
Nous nous tournons vers vous, voyageurs confirmés ou non 😉 pour nous conseiller dans la prépa du voyage. Plusieurs questions nous titillent l'esprit :
- --> Ou prendre le ferry Sète ou Barcelone ? (pas radin mais tout ce qui n'est pas mis dans le ferry peut être utilisé ailleurs)
- --> Trouve-t-on de l'essence partout ?
- --> Campings ou Hôtel ou chez l'Habitant ?
- --> compte tenu de la période (début juillet) peut-on arriver quelquepart sans avoir réservé au préalable (hôtel ou camping) ?

D'après votre circuit vous aurez pas de problème d'essence puisque vous trouverai des stations d'essence dans chaque villes et elles sont pas si loin mais vaut mieux ne pas laisser votre résérvoire jusqu'à qu'il risque de s'épuiser...
Par rapport aux Hotels au Maroc y a pas de souci de réservation puisqu'au mois de juillet est une saison basse...
Et par rapport à votre circuit, je vous conseille plutot de faire :
Tanger - Tetouen - Chafchaouen - Fes - Volibulis - Meknes - Azrou - Midelt - Errachidia -Merzouga - Tinghir - Boumalen dades - Ouarzazat - Agadir - Essaouira - Marrakech - Casablanca - Rabat - Salé - Kénitra - Ksar el kebir - Laraiche - Assilah - Tanger

Prenez un guide, type routard , lovely, petit futé.... il vous indique des lieux d'hébergements, (hôtel et camping). Moi je campe souvent mais je vais aussi à l'hôtel. Ensuite faites votre itinéraire comme vous en avez envies. Ne soyez pas trop gourmands en kilomètres. Il vaut mieux retourner une seconde fois et prendre le temps. En général pas besoin de réserver.
Comme l'a dit l'ami Marocain on trouve de l'essence de partout mais faites le plein à 150km environ n'attendez pas que le réservoir soit vide, on ne sait jamais. J'ai visité +sieurs fois le Maroc, en voiture, moto, et en transports locaux, jamais de problème.
J'y suis allé une fois par la route. Terminé je ne recommencerais pas, trop crevant.
Les autres fois par Sète, mais on m'a dit le plus grand bien de la compagnie Italienne par Barcelone. La prochaine fois c'est de la que je partirai. Mieux, parait-il et surtout moins cher.

Pour le ferry, tout le monde déconseille la comanav au départ de séte, cher bateau en mauvais état et toujours en retard ( compte plutôt 40 ou 42 heures que 36). Beaucoup recommande la liaison Barcelon Tanger, mois cher, à l'heure etc...
Le cirque de Jaffar en 1200GS et à deux (mais une seule moto) si tu as une grande expérience de la moto TT, si tu n'as pas le vertige et pas peur des dévers, tu peux le tenter mais moi je n'irais pas, ou alors à plusieurs motos en s'entraidant. est ce que c'est au niveau des camping est mauvais par rapport au standard européen?
mais je pense que le tarif d'un lit est surement au même tarif qu'un camping français, et donc 😕 pas intéressant
autre question à ce qui sont déjà allé au maroc, je pense que le minimun syndical pour un circuit est de 3 personnes!

Les campings n'ont pas vraiment bonne réputation au Maroc et en particulier la tenue des sanitaires, c'est pas tout à fait le même standard. A ce compte là il vaut mieux le camping sauvage.
Il n'y a pas de standard, certain le font seul ( voir le site de l'ami giefa ou Marocrando en duo ) d'autres à 2 ( voir mon blog ). et d'autre à 150.
C'est vrai que pour des question de sécurité 3 est un chiffre pas mal. Maintenant quand tu sais que tu n'as pas trop droit à l'erreur tu fais attention et t'en gardes un peu sous la poignée. Lors de mon dernier trip en Algérie les 4x4 portaient tout on roulait léger et le naturel revient au galop et on se lache et parfois j'avoue avoir été très limite.
Eh oui, malheureusement il n'y a pas de camping recommandable au Maroc et beaucoup de recommandables à vos ennemis comme dit Jacques Gandini dans son guide des campings du Maroc 😉 pardon pour celui qui serait correct et que je ne connaîtrai pas... Il faut les éviter, principalement en été époque à laquelle ils sont bondés.
Pour un tout petit peu plus cher il y a d'excellentes auberges !
Le camping sauvage est possible hors des circuits touristiques et il y a aussi a solution de l'hébergement chez l'habitant.

Bonjour à vous. Nous Christiane et moi-même comptons faire également un voyage au Maroc mais, compte tenu des conditions meteo (canicule juillet août) nous envisageons de le faire soit en juin ou en septembre (date définitive pas encore arrêtée).
Nous avons une BM R 1200 GS, notre periple pourrait-être : Sebta (ou Tanger) Meknes _ Ouarzazate par Azrou Midelt ErrachidiaErfoud Tinerhir Boumalne Ouarzazate Marrakech puis, après un repos bien merite, on remonte soit par la côte par Essaouira Casablanca ou par l'interieur Beni Mellal Kenitra Meknes (il faut vous dire que Christiane est née à Meknes, ceci expliquant cela) et retour en France Beziers.
On ne sait pas encore dans quel sens on compte faire le périple, on ne veut pas s'imposer un cadre strict car le but étant avant tout de se faire plaisir.
On compte se loger soit chez 'habitant ou dans les hôtels corrects à prix abordables.
Je n'envisage pas à ce jour d'équiper ma bécane de pneu TT sauf avis contraire.
Le voyage devrait se faire dans des conditions confortables en une vingtaine de jours entrainant tout le long du parcours lorsque l'envie nous prends.
Si l'on devait constater dans le sud certaines difficultés, on envisage de s'intégrer momentanément (avec s'il le faut participation off course) dans un groupe qui va dans le même sens que nous.

Par contre impossible pour nous de partir en juin ou en septembre, Emma est enseignante....ok beaucoup de vacances mais pas le choix des dates, on peut pas tout avoir !! 😉. Je suis parti de Belgique en avril 2009, périple de 4 semaines, tout à moto (10000km).
Passage par la France, le Portugal, l'Espagne, passage du détroit de Gibraltar et puis le Maroc.
Pour l'essence, aucun problème nulle part, mais ne jamais aller jusqu'au fond du réservoir avant de faire le plain.
Pour le logement, en avril et mai nous n'avions rien réservé et il y a toujours moyen de trouver quelque chose. Le niveau de confort peut varier très fort d'un endroit à l'autre. Ne jamais hésiter à discuter les prix, même pour le logement.
Nous n'avons pratiqué que les hôtels (certains n'en ont que le nom ;-)
Attention avec ta 120GS chargée et 2 personnes, ce n'est pas très maniable en dehors de la route. J'étais en 1150RT également avec une passagère, je sais de quoi je parle. Et surtout regarde loin devant toi pour éviter les trous, et évite de rouler lorsqu'il fait noir!!
Pour le reste, c'est magique, et surtout n'hésite jamais à approcher les autochtones et à discuter de tout et de rien. Par contre, ne prend pas pour évangile tout ce qu'ils te disent, y compris lorsque tu demande ton chemin. Pour ton chemin, n'hésite pas à demander à la police locale, ils sont partout le long des routes et aiment bien les motards.

Je viens de lire attentivement ton carnet de route de ton voyage au Maroc en 2008; c'est de la belle ouvrage pleine de détails qui serviront j'en suis persuadé les amoureux (et j'en suis) de la piste au Maroc.

Si vous restez majoritairement sur la route, comme moi en 2008, des pneus mixtes (Tourance, Anakee) feront trés bien l'affaire. le seul bémol: ne pas aller dans le sable.
Je l'ai appris à mes dépens autour de l'erg Chebbi et vers Zagora (photos sur le site), sinon pas de problème. dans votre cas, en duo, je ne pense pas que vous vous aventuriez dans ce genre de piste.
Cette année, nous allons rejoindre Merzouga à Foum Zguid, en passant par Taouz, ed Kemlia, Oumrjane, Mhamid, l'erg Chegaga, le lac Iriki, j'ai prévu des Continental TKC80. Mais ça n'empêchera pas les galères parce que les 250 kg de l'adventure à vide (+ le chargement) dans le sable, ça promet des moments chauds, trés chauds !!!!

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.
Do a loop.
What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:

Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?
