Nous avons pris les billets d'avions récemment du 24 avril au 10 Mai.
On arrive a Bangkok et on aimerai aussi visiter qq iles du Sud mais je ne sais pas faire le choix entre Phuket ou Koh Samui...ou autre...?
Nous ne connaissons absolument pas la Thailande et nous avons vraiment besoins de vos conseils!!!
Nos désirs, envies....:
- visites de qq temples
- on adores les animaux, balades elephants, rencontres tigres etc....
- un peu de farniente sur de belles iles...
- Mr adore la plongée, pourquoi pas en faire une ou 2 si le temps nous le permet...
- on adore egalement les marchés typiques, decouvrir les etales et vendeurs locaux
- on est des gourmands et amoureux de la cuisine Thai!!! Pas de gastro etc... mais du typique et bon marché.
- on adore les massage aussi....si vous avez des conseils
On aura un budget serré (les billets d'avions nous on bien fait mal deja lol), mais on fera toout pour pouvoir profiter au max (si vous avez des conseils sur le budget aussi...)

si votre budget est un peu serre phuket c est vraimment cher sinon glaner des infos sur le forum il vous donnera des idees il y a des iles extras a faire vous verrez apres 15 jours vous n aurez qu une envie c est d y retourner !!!!!
A cette période orientez-vous plutôt sur les îles du Golfe (Samui, Phangan, Tao) car il y a un risque de pluies début mai du coté des îles Andamanes (Phuket, Phi Phi, Lanta...). Faites une semaine dans le nord coté Chiang Mai et une dans le sud, comme cela vous aurez un aperçu de la Thailande. Pour les massages et la bonne cuisine, ne vous faites de souci vous trouverez cela a chaque coins de rue (ou presque) 😉 Au fait quel budget pour 15 jours?
Oui en effet je commence a fouiner sur le forum et il y a tellement d'infos.....qu'il faut prendre le temps pour assimiler (rien que les noms deja ...lol), mais je m'y attelle!!!

Apres avoir pas mal lu de sujets et propositions d'itinéraire on pense en effet resté 4-5 jours dans le nord, chiang mai, kanchanaburi et.....??? puis descendre faire les îles je pense qu'en 15 jours on aura pas le temps de faire a la fois phuket et Samui donc il faut que je me décide ....😕
On etait a Ko Lanta fin avril 2011. Et c'est vrai qu'on sent que l'on se dirige vers la mousson.
Quleques grosses pluies. Mais par contre c'est vraiment calme. certains commerces commencent a fermer.

La beauté de Phi Phi est bien fanée et je vous la déconseille (lire ce POST) mais je vous déconseille de vouloir visiter les 2 cotés (sauf si le temps vous y oblige) car vous allez perdre trop de temps en transfert sur 15 jours 😕 Début mai je vous conseille plutôt le coté Golfe de Thailande (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao) ou il y a autant de choses a voir et a faire que du coté Andaman 😉 Bon voyage 🙂
Je dirais aussi que 15 jours pour faire Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai et les iles ca va faire un peu juste en temps.
Pourquoi ne pas zapper Kanchanaburi et plutot faire Ayuthaya 3 nuits ( avec une journee a Lopburi pour voir les singes).
Ensuite prendre un bus de nuit pour Chiang Mai; y rester 4/5 nuits. Et apres un vol Chiang-Mai Phuket pour finir sur les Iles.
Oui en effet question budget c'est ce que je me suis dit....🤪 On va faire au mieux pour etre plutot dans les 1000, 1200 car se serait dommage d'aller si loin et d'avoir des regrets en rentrant....
Concernant Kanchanaburi, c'est justement ma question...est ce vraiment a voir? ou preferer chiang mai, qu'y a t il a voir côté Ayuthaya (je n'est pas encore regardé....😕 je vais faire une recherche sur le forum...
Pour info Ayyuthaya (une des anciennes capitales du Siam) n'est qu'a 45 mn de Bangkok et facilement visitable en une journée A/R depuis la cité des anges et Lopburi ne mérite pas le détour quand on a peu de temps. J'aime beaucoup la région de Kanchanaburi mais en 15 jours je ne pense pas qu'il faille trop se disperser en différents endroits et ne rien vaiment voir au final. Limitez vous a la région de Chiang Mai 4-5 jours, le sud 5-6 jour et Bangkok-Ayyuthaya au final pour 3-4 jours auquel il faut inclure les journées de transport interne et d'installation dans l'hotel ou la GH car on ne visite pas grand chose ces jours la 😉
Avez vous de bonnes adresse de GH sur Chiang Mai? Si possible avec piscine car il va semble t il faire tres chaud et se serait sympa apres un trek ou ballade une petite piscine ...

Oui, il y a la Chiang Mai Thai House qui est très bien avec piscine par exemple.

Oubliez les avis ne sont pas contradictoires mais plutôt unanimes sur VF, regardez sur Tripadvisor par exemple, c'est éloquent 🤪 Les treks peuvent être pris dans votre hôtel ou GH sinon il y a pleins de petites agences dans Chiang Mai. Comparez les prix et les prestations 😉

Il est plus conseillé de visiter Bangkok a la fin de son séjour si vous comptez faire quelques achats car vous devrez vous les trimballez tout le reste de votre séjour que ce soit en bus, en avion ou en bateau 🙁 pour les visites de Bangkok (voir ICI) sinon je vous recommande aussi la visite des Klongs avec Julien (voir ICI pour le contacter).

En 15 jours mieux vaut prendre l'avion surtout que vous un budget correct, c'est entre 1400 et 2000 bahts le billet one way pour une personne (vous pouvez aussi comparez avec Air Asia mais c'est pas moins cher). Par contre je n'irai pas a Chiang Rai vous n'avez pas assez de temps pour ca et il y a pas mal de choses a voir et a faire a et autour de Chiang Mai surtout si vous faites un trek.

Si vous arrivez a Phuket, restez-y 2-3 jours pour visiter l'île (baie de Phang Nga, Koh Raya, Wat Chalong, Big Bouddha, Prompthep cap, View Point, etc...) puis allez a Koh Lanta en vous arrêtant une ou 2 nuits a Koh Phi Phi pour repartir depuis l'aéroport de Krabi. Je n'irai pas aux Similans car c'est assez loin de Phuket (ca fait une journée vraiment très chargée) a moins d'être mordu de plongée en plus ca doit être la fin de la saison et la mer peut commencer a être un peu mouvementée pour les longues sorties en speedboats 🤪

Non ce n'est pas absolument nécessaire mais seulement conseillé en cas de trek dans une zone a risque.
Pour mon début de séjour je suis a la recherche d'un hotel sur Bangkok, j'ai parcouru le forum et j'ai vu celui-ci qui est trés bien noté :

J'hésite avec l'IBIS riverside qui est en promo en ce moment (accord hotel) a 31 eur la nuit avec chambre avec vue sur le Chao praya...
Je recherche une chambre pour une nuit a notre arrivée, pas trop loin du grand palais afin de faire les visites incontournables de BKK, et dans les 35 eur max avec piscine
Ces 2 hotels ne sont pas vraiment proches du Grand Palais et autres temples comme le Wat Pho et le Wat Arun, etc... mais avec l'IBIS riverside vous êtes au bord du Chao Praya et pouvez prendre une navette fluviale pour vous y rendre facilement et rapidement 😉
Plus besoin de renseignements sur le train car finalement j'ai réservé des billet d'avion via Air Asia (super promo a 2400 bath pour 2, pour chiang mai avec 20 kg de bagage...)

Le Rambutri Inn Plaza est pas moins loin du Grand Palais. Vous pouvez y aller en bateau sur le Chao Praya, ou même à pied en passant près du Musée National si vous aimez marcher.
Le prix est bien moins cher et avec 2 piscines sur le toit. Accueil un peu speed mais je retourne maintenant chaque année à cet hotel. Prévoir la caution de 1OOO Baths à l'arrivée (25 Euros) pour la clef magnétique mais pas de problème pour les récupérer.
Merci beaucoup pour ce conseil, mais au vues des commentaires assez négatif sur l'accueil je préfererais un hotel avec un meilleur accueil quitte a payer un peu plus cher.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.

For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
