This is a nightmare! Auchan Telecom’s internet extension isn’t working… so no Google Maps! Big problem in the middle of nowhere yesterday, and we drove in circles for ages trying to find the hotel in Bakersfield. And today we’re heading to L.A. What’s a quick and cheap solution?

If you have Wi-Fi access, download Maps.me—it works offline.

Jmaps works... but only for finding routes. Running around to McDonald's, Walmart... just to get connected. My 1 € device doesn’t seem to pick up the networks...

Hi,

Have you tried turning everything off and on again, reinstalling the SIM card, etc.? Is your provider’s partner network available? Are there multiple networks in range? Otherwise, yeah, Maps.me.

Maps.me is a really great app, and all the places (hotels, restaurants, shops, etc.) are listed on it.

It’s way better than Google Maps for hikes and other trails, too.

Plus, you can save all the places that interest you beforehand! !

Hi Ducono.

When you're at the hotel with Wi-Fi, you load the SYGIC Premium app (20 € per year) and download all the offline maps for the USA. It takes up a bit of space (on an SD card if needed). Hope this helps. Have a great trip. Jacques.

As I mentioned before, maps.me, or else Ubigi.

In the end, we followed the blue dot on Maps, except I mixed up the H10 and 5 and we ended up in Disneyland California! But we can't be the only ones because they're making us leave directly... arrived at the VL hotel 1 hour late.

You really stack them up every trip! 😉

I’m a bit late to the party, but if this helps others... One option, if your phone allows it, might be to get the Free plan at 19.90 € with 35GB of data outside the EU and choose the e-SIM card option so you can use it right away. The plan can be canceled without notice.
