Si ton but est d'apprendre l'anglais en quelques mois, oublie Montréal!
Pour une personne qui vient à plus long terme (2-3 ans) oui on peut apprendre, mais pour une courte période vaut mieux aller directement dans une province ou pays anglophone, pour une parfaite immersion.
L'erreur fréquente des Français, c'est de vouloir apprendre l'anglais mais en fréquentant d'autres Français ou francophones...échec garanti du projet. Tu auras gaspillé ton temps.

Tout va dépendre de quelle manière tu abordes tes études. J'envisage d'aller étudier au Canada moi aussi, l'an prochain et du coup je me suis pas mal renseignée (je suis presque une bible à propos des permis d'étude... 😕)
Est ce que tu pars avec un programme d'échange? C'est à dire que tu es affilié à une Université française et que tu souhaites passer six mois ou un an seulement au Quebec? Ou est ce que tu comptes démarrer quelque chose au Quebec directement?
A ce moment là tes études dureront environ trois ans (si tu traines à l'Ouest de Montréal tu réussiras surement à rencontrer des anglophones qui t'aideront à améliorer ton anglais). Tu devras faire une démarche auprès d'une Université, si tu es pris faire la demande d'un permis détude. Si tu as ce permis tu ne pourras travailler que 20 heures par semaine.
Sinon, je te conseille le permis vacance-travail, ou juste travail pour toi. Ya une rubrique là dessus sur le site de l'ambassade du Canada en France. C'est un visa non renouvelable qui dure un an et avec lequel tu peux travailler au Canada. C'est spécialement pour les jeunes de 18 à 30 ans je pense, quelque chose comme ça. Le PVT (Programme Vacances-Travail) est accessible aux 18-35 ans.
Si tu souhaites partir au mois de novembre... c'est mort. Les quotas pour 2008 ont été atteints depuis quelques mois déjà. Et pour 2009 il faut déposer un dossier dès le mois d'octobre 2008 pour espérer pouvoir partir en début d'année prochaine.
De plus, ce programme ne donne pas accès aux cours dispensés par les universités ou les différentes commissions scolaires, pour cela il faut avoir un permis d'étude ou être résident permanent (ou citoyen canadien). Les seuls cours de langue auxquels tu pourrais prétendre sont ceux qui sont donnés par différentes associations (ne débouchant, de ce fait, pas sur une quelconque certification ou diplôme). Correct, mais il y a mieux si l'on souhaite devenir vraiment bilingue.
Quoiqu'il en soit, effectivement, il me semble assez peu probable d'atteindre cet objectif en venant passer 6 mois dans une province francophone.
Rien de tel que l'immersion totale pour ce faire.
Pour ce qui est d'un job, il est assez facile d'en trouver un, mais il ne faut pas être regardant sur le poste ou le salaire.
En effet, quelle que soit l'expérience que l'on puisse avoir en France, il faut se faire une "expérience canadienne".
Logique: on n'est pas en terrain conquis! Et le Québec n'est pas un "département" français.
Dans bons nombres d'annonces, à Montréal, tu verras qu'il est demandé d'être bilingue. Que te dire d'autre que: tente le coup.
Si tu te débrouilles déjà pas mal, ça peut être suffisant, ou non... à la discretion de l'employeur et de ses besoins.
Yep j'espere bien obtenir l'un de ces PVT si demandés, les quotas sont épuisés à une rapidité incroyable. je voudrais partir pour janvier.

Sinon, moi j ai appris l anglais en quelques mois à Montréal grace à une colocation avec des anglophones (très facile à trouver, il y a plus d'anglohones que de francophones à Montréal!). Et je n ai jamais pris de cours, et j avais un niveau de lycée mi-na-ble!
Franchement, je pense tout à fait que c est possible, donc fonce.
Le PVT est très facile à obtenir à condition de remplir les papiers dans les temps (les places partent en quelques semaines) et d'avoir une belle somme d'argent sur ton compte (preuve que tu ne seras pas dans le besoin si tu as un problème).
Des amis se sont inscrits pour le PVT dès les premiers jours de la mise en ligne (octobre je crois) et sont partis courant janvier je crois...
Conseils, pour résumer:
trouve une colocation avec des anglophones (sur les sites de craigslist et mcgill classified) et puis trouve un petit boulot ou tu pourras exercer ton anglais. Pas très dur, tout ça... tout roule!

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
