Maintenant, j'ai un peu de peur car je viens de lire à http://www.cecrg.org/html/stmichel.html que: " Il est l’un des territoire de Montréal le plus densément peuplé et le plus défavorisé économiquement et socialement."
Est-ce que je devrais m'inquiéter par la securité de habiter là-bas?. Vous me conseillez de choisir un autre quartier pour vivre?
Le quartier Saint-Michel n'est pas des plus tranquilles à Montréal! Ça fait plus de trois ans que je n'y ai pas mis les pieds mais à l'époque j'y suis allée plusieurs fois pour intervenir auprès de certaines familles. Je suis intervenante sociale. Cependant, je ne dis pas ça pour insinuer que les familles soient plus problématiques.
Pour ma part, je suis une femme, et j'avoue que lorsque je quittais les familles tardivement, je n'étais pas forcémment à l'aise... Je pense qu'effectivement, c'est un quartier où il y a plus de violence... En même temps, c'est un quartier qui peut être intéressant parce que c'est très multiethnique... Le revers, c'est que l'immigration n'est jamais facile et beaucoup de familles immigrantes vivent la pauvreté. C'est quelque chose qui se ressent dans ce quartier.

La chambre à louer est situé sur la Av. Leonard da vinci, ca c'est une bonne zone?
C'est bel et bien dans le quartier Saint-Michel. Cependant, je ne connais pas assez ce quartier pour te donner une opinion si oui ou non c'est attrayant comme secteur. C'est certain que le quartier Saint-Michel est réputé pour être un secteur plutôt pauvre, où l'on retrouve une forte concentration d'immigrants, mais de là à dire que c'est un secteur à éviter il y a une très grande marge que je ne franchirai pas ici...

Des policiers ont abattu un jeune de 18 ans dans un parc de Montréal, le but était d'arrêter son frère, mais ça tourné au vinaigre. Le lendemain ou pas longtemps après il y a eu une manifestation pour dénoncer le geste du policier et la mort du jeune homme et ça a dégénéré en soirée. Il faut comprendre qu'il y a la problématique des gangs de rue, qui ont sû profiter de l'occasion pour faire du grabuge, voire même jusqu'à tirer des coups de feu vers les policiers...
Bonjour, comme je l'ai dit hier je suis allé faire un petit tour de vélo dans ce secteur cet après-midi.
Il faut dire d'entrée de jeu qu'il y a un certain contraste entre le quartier St-Michel et les quartiers voisins de Villeray et Rosemont. Ce que je veux dire, c'est que du point de vue de la qualité du milieu c'est un peu moins intéressant. La rue Villeray est plutôt moche, alors que la rue Jean-Talon est mieux en ce qui à trait aux commerces et à l'apparence générale. C'est aussi un peu moins bien du côté de l'urbanisme (la qualité des aménagements, le nombre d'arbres, on voit souvent des usages difficilement compatibles exemple : un garage de réparation automobile sur des rues résidentielles), bref c'est un peu du n'importe quoi à ce niveau là. On constate donc la différence lorsqu'on se balade dans Rosemont (au Nord) et Villeray (à l'Ouest). Pour la rue De Vinci et bien, la partie au nord de Villeray (7600 et +) est située pas mal près de l'autoroute, alors que la partie dans le secteur de Jean-Talon, surtout au sud de celle-ci est plus intéressante que celle un peu plus au nord. Ceci étant dit ce n'est pas la fin du monde non plus. Voici les photos prises cet après-midi en pièces jointes.

Les gangs de rues se battent entre gangs, les citoyens du style monsieur-et-madame-tout-le-monde ne sont pas forcément embêtés par eux, mais le climat des quartiers ou se trouvent les gangs de rue peuvent être insécurisant.

Problématique dans le sens que c'est un cercle vicieux. Plus il y a de pauvreté et d'exclusion sociale, plus il y a tendance à avoir de la violence et les jeunes sont plus tentés d'entrer dans des gangs de rue et de participer à des activités illicites. Les gangs de rue et leurs membres proviennent principalement des milieux pauvres et souvent immigrants, l'exemple des États-Unis est probants à cet égard.
De plus, il y a eu des rafles assez spectaculaire de la part de la police dans le milieu des motards et de la mafia depuis 5 à 10 ans, ce qui fait que les gangs de rue ont pris de plus en plus de place et deviennent par le fait même plus puissantes (vente de drogues, racket, extorsion, etc.). Cependant, comme l'a dit Nicky, ça se passe plus souvent qu'autrement entre eux. Néanmoins, les méthodes utilisées par les gangs de rue peuvent parfois laissés pantois dans la mesure où ils ne sont pas toujours des plus discrets et font parfois des actes "déplacés" comme par exemple défier la police...Toutefois, bien que l'on parle davantage des gangs de rue et de leur présence, ce n'est pas un problème si important que ça pour le simple citoyen, enfin je le pense.
