Je viens d'apprendre que mon père vient de faire une occlusion intestinale au Cameroun. Il est résident en France, à pris son vol avec la compagnie aérienne via un paiement on-line avec CB. Il a une mutuelle... donc doit avoir avec tout cela une assurance assistance rapatriement. Nous sommes en relation avec une personne qui vit là-bas et le connaît (moi non) et il est hospitalisé dans une clinique privée de Yaoundé (Clinique Bastos). Voilà, selon cette personne sur-place, les soins apportés et le suivi dépendent beaucoup de "l'argent dépensé". On nous a aussi dit que pour un rapatriement en France, la personne doit être en état de voyager et que les médecin peuvent donner ou non leur accord en fonction... C'est confu et je voulais juste savoir les points sur la procédure de rapatriement: comment cela fonctionnait (certificat médical, qui donne son accord, assistance, connaissance particulière ou expérience en Afrique/Cameroun...) ce qui pourrait être utile...
A relire votre msg, je pense que la clinique Bastos a déjà dû s'assurer de la prise en charge des frais auprès de la société d'assistance (si vous n'avez pas d'informations sur celle-ci, elle pourra vous les donner)
Concernant ensuite vos questions, les médecins de la société d'assistance vous répondront. Ils ont l'habitude, ne vous inquiétez pas, n'hésitez pas à les contacter. Tout sera organisé.
Bonjour, si c'est vraiment une occlusion intestinale il n'y a pas le temps d'organiser un rapatriement sanitaire, car cela aurait déja du etre fait. Il est préférable qu'il se fasse opérer en urgence localement, et attention aux infections, ne pas chipoter sur le prix de la clinique.
A priori, la clinique dans laquelle il se trouve est de bonne facture. Un médecin de l’ambassade est venu voir le rapport médical de l'opération et une sonde est posée. En réalité, le vol a été payé en liquide et sa mutuelle française n'est que classique: pas de prise en charge des dépassements honoraires ou interventions type anesthésie, opération et hospitalisation à l’étranger. Le coût d'un rapatriement est de l'ordre de 45K€. Il ne pourra repartir que lorsque (au minimum) sa sonde sera ôtée.
Le risque évoqué est que le médecin qui le suit ne fasse "volontairement du zèle" pour le retenir un maximum et rentabiliser le séjour... Est-ce une réalité? Je ne l'espère pas... Y-a-t-il quelque chose à faire... ? Je suis perdu et inquiet.
Le fait d'avoir payé ou non le vol avec la carte bleue n'a pas d'importance: sa possession suffit.

Bonjour, donc tout a l'air de bien se passer, je ne pense pas que le médecin en charge fasse trainer son séjour, d'ailleurs ton père sentira bien le moment ou il aura retrouvé des forces. Quand sa sonde aura été retirée il se peut qu'il puisse reprendre l'avion sans avoir besoin d'un rapatriement sanitaire, peut etre classe affaire quand meme pour etre allongé, mais cela coutera moins que les 45 K euros.Reste la raison de l'occlusion, un check up complet de retour en France.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
