je prépare un voyage en moto dont le départ est prévu en avril 2014. Mon parcours est comme suit :
France => Mongolie => Russie de l'Est (Magadan) ===> Alaska (Anchorage) => Canada = > USA (New-York)
Mon problème aujourd'hui est de trouver une liaison entre Magadan et Anchorage...Après de nombreuses recherches qui n'ont aboutis à rien, je me permets de vous demander de l'aide!
Je prévois d'être à Magadan courant Juillet (saison la plus « chaude »)
J’avais entendu parler de Magadan Airlines mais je crois que l’entreprise a fermé… (?)
Y-aurait-il des cargos qui reliant ces 2 villes ?
Il me semble qu’il y a des liaisons entre la Corée et Vancouver mais elles détourneraient vachement mon itinéraire tout en me privant de l’Alaska et quasiment tout le Canada.
N’hésitez pas à me faire part de la moindre piste.

comme je le répondais à Zepline sur son post "tour du monde à moto", il n'y a pas à ce jour de connection directe entre Russie et alaska, rien à partir de Magadan, juste un ferry pour la Corée à partir de Vladivostok (de l'ordre de 1000$) puis avion entre Corée et Vancouver, vous trouverez sur HU les coordonnées d'un russe qui peut vous aider à Vlad
passé Juillet vous allez vous cailler les miquettes en Alaska ou vers Inuvik
je vous conseille d'y consulter les post de Colebatch
je pense que vous gagnerez à "trainer" en Colombie britannique et Yellostone, voire à descendre plus au sud plutôt qu'à vous tapper une trans-canadienne
bon courage pour la route des os (et soyez y très prudent car plusieurs agressions de motards occidentaux ou japonais y ont été recensées ces 2 dernières années)

Yvestt39 a tout a fait raison. Il n'a a pas de passage au detroit de Bering, ni dans un sens ni d'en l'autre.
Il faut passer en bateau par plus au sud. Aussi il a raison quand il dit que l'Alaska passe Juillet/mi-Aout il commence a faire froid.
J'avais deja etudie le passage pour un tour du monde, c'est a ce jour sur le plan administratif impossible et la traversee de la Siberie solo, quasi impossible.

En tout cas merci pour la piste Corée-Canada! Mais rejoindre la Corée en prennant le bateau depuis Vladivostok puis l'avion jusqu'à Vancouver présente plusieurs inconvénients pour moi :
1 : le coût (je pense que les 4000 euros ne sont pas loin) ;
2 : la mythique "route des os" est pour moi le passage le plus éxitant de ce voyage et je ne voudrait la contourner pour rien au monde ;
3 : l'Alaska me tient beaucoup à coeur et il m'embete de ne pas y passer...
Je ne reste toutefois pas fermé à cette possibilité...
Yvestt39, pour ce qui est de la route de os, vous l'avez déja emprunté? Est-ce un route que vous déconseillez? Par quoi se sont soldés ces agressions?
Olivieredh, apparement ce genre de tour s'est déjà fait vers 2005 il me semble par Ewan Mac Gregor et Charley Boorman (à l'époque ou Magadan Airlines fonctionnait encore...) et ils en ont fait un film-documentaire intitulé "Long Way Round", c'est excellent, on vit pas à pas leur aventure, je vous recommande vivement de le regarder (si ce n'est pas déjà fait). Personnelement je pensais partir en solo mais finalement je vais partir avec mon cousin, nous serons donc 2 motos. Sinon administrativement, à quel point avez-vous bloqué?
Etrefal, la piste Chukotka-Alaska m'interesse, cependant j'imagine qu'aucun chemin pratiquable en moto ne mene là-bas?

je n'ai pas été plus loin qu'a mi chemin entre Ulan-Ude et Chita, il y a bien 10 ans
le pote qui m'accompagnait a craqué...et je dois avouer que j'en était pas loin, des pins de la pluie des bouleaux du froid des pins pourris des mecs saouls des bouleaux pourris des pins etc...bref on étaient transis crevés et ont venaient d'avoir bcp de chance quand un poids lourds nous a raté en traversant la route pour littéralement exploser sur le talus à notre droite
la route des os semble surtout...chiante, mais chacun ses goûts
elle est désormais asphaltée, déjà à l'époque on croisait de dizaines (centaines) de voitures japonaises d'occase (volant à droite), les NTV et cb500 passaient sans problème majeur...tant que la route était "sèche"
concernant les agressions, un japonais abattu d'une balle dans la nuque et un ? lardé d'une dizaine de coups de couteaux, donc ne pas trainer près des feux de camps de russes qui s'alcoolisent...et l'alcool sera le pire fléau que vous croiserez...ainsi que les moustiques ;-)))
si vous roulez seuls, trainez à Irkutsk, vous croiserez d'autres motards pour rouler en (petit) groupe discret
tant qu'à vouloir visiter la Russie sauvage, je vous conseille plutôt l'Altaï, magnifique, de l'asphalte correcte et des pistes pour se perdre
concernant le coût de la traversée je me trompe peut être mais sur les sites de ceux qui l'ont fait c'est plutôt de l'ordre de 2000€ (quand même) par bateau
pour le ptijédaï...reste plus qu'à vous trouver 2 4X4 d'escorte, toutefois plusieurs leçons à en tirer
- le nord de la Mongolie occidentale est plus difficile que le sud
- il faut savoir modifier un iti quand "ça ne veut plus"
- le train et ses ponts traverse mieux les rivières sibériennes au printemps qu'un pilote fatigué sur une moto surchargée. à ce propos une moto doit faire moins de 160/180 kg pour avoir le droit demonter dans le train...ou alors c'est plus cher !!!

je croyais que la route des os commençait à Lakoutsk pour finir à Magadan? Je me trompe peut-être mais Ulan-Ude et Chita sont sur la M55 "Amur" non? Enfin dans tous les cas nous passerons par ces deux villes :-)
Effectivement je pense rejoindre le Kazakhstan et la Mongolie en passant par l'Altaï.
Si le traversée se solde à 2000 euros elle reste donc envisageable...
En tous cas c'est vraiment sympa à vous de m'aider pour tout ça!! ;-)

c'est tout à fait cela pour la route des os
et je dois bien avouer que j'étais soulagé que mon compagnon de route jette l'éponge avant de devoir s'engager plus avant car nous voulions aller soit à Magadan soit à Vladivostok et comme nous avions un timing de 7 semaines...des journées de 10/12 heures de routes se succédant nous étions en train de nous dégouter
si vous passer par le nord Kazakstan sachez qu'il n'y a rien à voir et que cela va vous coûter votre seconde entrée russe pour rien en revenant en Altaï, la durée d'une extension demandé en Mongolie étant aléatoire je vous conseille de rester en Russie jusqu'à l'entrée en Mongolie
pour les tout fous de Russie, vous trouverez bcp d'infos pratiques dans les post de Colebatch sur HU, une mine, avec les stations services ateliers hébergement etc...

Je m'excuse pour mon absence ces derniers temps, mais en cette fin d'année scolaire je passe des examens donc je devais me concentrer là dessus...!
Finalement étant donné qu'il n'y a aucune liaison pour les USA depuis Magadan, nous pensons aller jusqu'à Vladivostok pour prendre un bateau ou un avion. J'ai vu qu'il y avait des vols à 1700 euros pour Vladivostok/Anchorage mais ce prix concerne uniquement le transport d'une personne avec ses 20/25 kg de bagages....hors dans notre cas nos bagages feront environ 300 kg chacun et ressembleront à des motos...alors arrivent plusieurs questions :
- est-ce que l'avions dans lequel nous seront pourra transporter les motos
- si oui à quel prix?
- faut-il envoyer la moto par un autre avion/un autre moyens? et toujours à quel prix?

Mais une fois en Alaska, faut tout de même trouver une route! Entre Bethel et Anchorage il y a 700km à vol d'oiseau, pas de route bien entendu, que des moustiques, des marais et des ours friands de motocyclistes....
Explorez les cargos qui se rendent au port de Prince Rupert, on sait jamais. 😉

Hypothèse à verifier serait: un bateau touristique 1 en juillet 1 en août venant de d'Alaska fait des escale en chutchotka lawrantina voir anadyr , rien n'est sûr qu'il accepte de charger une moto.de plus être muni de son visa américain(pré demande )car vous rentrer par voie maritime- pas de consulat americain à anadyr.pour rejoindre anadyr par la piste ce n'est pas la même game que thé road of Bones(facile)

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
