Nous ne sommes pas les premiers à poser la question, mais peut-être aurez-vous une réponse à notre problème en particulier.
Nous voulons un visa touristique de 1 mois pour la Russie (pour le mois d'aout en gros, entrée à Ulan Ude, sortie à Sakhaline). On vient d'essayer de l'obtenir à Baku, mais on nous apprend qu'il est impossible de l'obtenir hors de son pays de résidence (sauf si l'on a un permis de séjour de 90 jours dans un pays quelconque). Les agences de voyage nous disent la même chose. Parait que c'est une nouvelle loi qui date d'il y a 1 ou 2 ans. Et nous, pas moyen qu'on retourne en France maintenant !!
On confirme au passage que dans les pays d'Asie Centrale, il faut l'original de la lettre d'invitation ! Et que pour obtenir un visa russe depuis l'Azerbaïdjan, à priori, c'est mort...
Quelques questions :
- peut-on obtenir le visa russe plus d'un mois à l'avance ? (on nous a dit "pas moins d'un mois avant le jour d'entrée" au consulat azéri, ce qui nous obligerait à le prendre en Mongolie, mais sur le forum, certains contributeurs parlent de 6 mois)
- Y a-t-il des voyageurs qui ont réussi à obtenir leur visa russe depuis Almaty, Tachkent ou Ulan-Bator récemment, sans résider dans ces pays ? Et si oui, était-ce ok pour 1 mois (parait qu'en Mongolie, c'est souvent moins..) ? Y a-t-il une astuce particulière (agence de voyage, autre ?)
- Y a-t-il d'autres villes qu'Almaty et Astana au Kazakhstan qui délivrent le visa russe (notamment pour la partie transit Kazakhstan-Mongolie)
- Enfin, est-ce qu'à votre avis ça pose problème de demander aussi un visa de transit russe (pour passer du kazakhstan à la mongolie) ? C'est exactement la même galère, j'imagine ? Peut-on/vaut-il mieux faire les deux demandes en même temps ? (sachant que c'est dur d'avoir des dates précises pour un visa de transit)

Un visa de transit Russe n'est pas comme le Kazak, qui donne 3 jours au pif sur un mois glissant. Il repose sur une justification du transit: billet d'avion avec longue correspondance, billet de train. Son prix est quasi celui du visa touristique mais il évite l'invitation. Peut-être est-il encore possible d'obtenir des billets de train Russe depuis le territoire Kazak, mais c'est loin d'être sur car si les république d'Asie centrale utilisent encore le système informatique soviétique, ils limitent la vente qu'aux trains qui desservent leur pays (comme en Ouzbékistan ou ...en France )
Bref, si tu as envie de visiter la Russie, prends un bon gros visa d'affaires de 3 mois . Sinon, ne comptes pas sur de petits trajets: trop chiant, trop compliqué!
Crains qu'un jour un train ne t'émeuve plus...

Mais si vous voulez obtenir un visa russe etant francais a partir d'un autre territoire , va falloir faire marcher les relations consulaires du pays ou vous vous trouvez , sinon, respectez les lois russes et retournez dans votre pays , chercher le visa russe ! Dans ce cas , demandez un visa business 90 jours , vous eviterez ce genre de malaise.
Illegal :mais la , il faut avoir des relations ' Petit Ours ' . Faire voyager vos passports , obtenir les nouveaux visas Consulat Russe Paris . Les renvoyer par le meme chemin aerien , connaitre quelqu'un qui se charge de tout ca et une belle jeune femme , blottit dans sa 'guerrite' qui tamponne vos passports avec entre quelques billets et.. sans votre presence . Bref de l'illegalite absolue ..mai ca se fait .

Oui, nous sommes à Baku pour le moment (dans l'attente du ferry pour Aktau, 7 jours déjà, mais y en a qui ont attendu bien plus !)
A ce propos semblerait que les tarifs ont explosé : c'est maintenant 110 dollars la traversée (prix le moins cher) piéton...
J'attends d'éventuels retour d'exérience récents de voyageurs ayant réussi à prendre leur visa russe au Kazakhstan ou autre avant de prendre une décision..Envoyer les passeports en France, ça craint, voyager sans passeport, c'est un peu être à la merci de tous les flics du pays...on verra...
En tout cas le visa business, même si cher (90 dollars rien que la lettre d'invitation, sur waytorussia, et encore, si l'on est pas pressés), vaut peut-être le coup...
On ne cherche pas "dans l'illégalité", je ne sais pas trop ce que tu veux dire par là.
A propos de la loi qui stipule qu'on doit obtenir le visa russe dans son pays de résidence et pas ailleurs, il paraît qu'elle est appliquée avec plus ou moins de souplesse selon les consulats, et qu'il est admis que la décision finale revienne au consulat, qui peut prendre ou non la décision d'émettre un visa dans un pays qui n'est pas le votre.
la souplesse veut dire : cash under table . Tout est possible mais en sortant de la legalite qui est : Visa Russe obtenu en France pour les Francais ...
Pensez vous qu'un russe obtiendrait un visa Schengen en le demandant au consultat francais au Mexique ?

Pour obtenir un visa russe, dans n'importe lequel des consulats de Russie, il faut en plus du passeport, l'original de la lettre d'invitation (fax accepté, si visa tourisme), l'original de l'assurance rapatriement, la demande de visa.
Notre expérience: Visa de Transit demandé à Tashkent pour aller en Ukraine = accordé 9 jours, sans problème (pas besoin d'invitation ni visa du pays de sortie)
A priori à Almaty il doit être encore possible d'obtenir un visa de transit russe pour aller en Mongolie, mais en 2008 ils ne donnaient que 5 jours, donc il faut faire vite!!! peut être à Tashkent sont-ils plus compréhensifs!!!

J'ai eu legend tour en Mongolie par mail de nombreuses fois dans la semaine et à priori ils peuvent faire un visa russe de trente jours max.
Ma question est : de quoi avez vous eu besoin comme justificatif pour ce visa russe obtenu à pekin : invitation ou voucher, billet de sortie du territoire, hotel ? Ou rien ?
J'attends avec impatience votre réponse et vous en remercie d'avance.
Il suffit d'une photo d' identité, une photocopie de passeport, une attestation d' assurance rapatriement, et un voucher (très facile a obtenir sur Internet par des agences spécialises, l impression du voucher envoyé par mail suffit)
et l équivalent de 70€ en liquide pour l avoir le jour même, sinon c est moins cher si on peut attendre une semaine...
voilà, rien d'autre (hotel, justificatif de domicile...) et on peut l'obtenir dans la journée...

En ce qui concerne les routes au kazakhstan, entre Aqtobe et Aral, la route principale reliant le nord au sud est plutot correcte et bitumee. En revanche, elle fait un long detour et si tu suis la route qui longe la voie ferree, c est plus rapide. Il s agit d une piste qui a l air tout a fait correcte (enfin, vu du train, car nous n avons pas de voiture)
Si tu as d autres questions, n hesite pas, nous sommes encore au Kazakhtan pour une petite semaine, avant d y retourner au mois de juin.

Merci pour les infos sur l'état de la route entre Aqtobe et Aral. Cela nous rassure car les vues du satellite avec Google montrent qu'au moment de la prise des photos environ une centaine de km étaient en piste, semble -t-il, en mauvais état.
Notre itinéraire est Saratov (RUS) - Aqtobe - Aral - Chimkent (KAZ) - Tashkent (OUZ). Nous serons en camping-car. Si tu as des infos sur ce parcours cela m'intéresse.

Yes, il faut te faire enregistrer, obligatoirement. Va a la premiere grande ville que tu passeras, et demande la police d immigration (imigratsion politsia ou qq chose comme ca). Peut etre meme que tu peux le faire des la frontiere, meme.
Comme l'a deja repondu un intervenant, c'est la folie au Kz, des qu'un flic voit des touristes ou presque, paf, controle ! Et le tour des photos prises, une fouille sommaire, etc...Interet a avoir ses papiers en regle !!
Attention, pour l'etat exact des routes, je ne sais pas, vu qu'on etait en train !! On a vu que la route etait goudronnee auqnd on la voyait, mais y a peut etre un troncon pourri, possible...

Nous avons fait nos demandes de lettre d'invitation business (russie) aupres de waytorussia.
J'ai envoye la demande le 2 mai, ete debite le 3 mai en me disant que tout serait fait dans le delai imparti (14 jours : 90 euros ; si vous voulez 7 jours, c'est 180 euros !!), et que j'etais debite et ne pouvais plus revenir en arriere sans frais.
Le 5 mai, je recois un courrier (que je n'avais lu qu'en diagonale), ds lequel il etait marque que le debut du lancement de nos lettres serait le 18 mai, because 45 jours avant la date d'entree demandee pour la Russie !!
Cela sans prevenir nulle part. Ce qui fait que, alors que nous nous etions cales, en prevoyant (large) 3 semaines a partir du 2 mai, afin de pouvoir faire nos visas a Tashkent vers le 25..et que du coup c'est foutu pour Tashkent...
Donc faites gaffe a way to russia, c'est pas tres honnete (mes multiples demandes pour accelerer le processus recoivent des reponses administratives negatives)...
Pour clore la question de depart : le visa russe est super simple a obtenir a Tashkent, donc pas de soucis d'histoire de pays d'origine...
Il faut :
- l original de la lettre d'invitation (le plus chiant, nous l'avons attendu 10 jours a Tashkent !), et donc bien savoir qu ils ne lancent les lettres d'invitation business que 45 jours avant la date d'entree indiquee
- le passeport
- l'attestation d'assurance voyage (nous, on ne l'avait qu'en francais, et ca n'a pas pose de probleme)
- 86 dollars en beaux billets, posterieurs a 2001 et pas abimes (si vous etes anglo-saxons, ca sera beaucoup plus cher, pas de bol !!)
- une photo d'identite
Et le visa est pret en quelques heures (venez le matin, il sera pret l'apres midi). SI vous demandez un temps plus long (5 jours, par ex), ca sera un peu moins cher)
2 contre-exemples: Consulat Russe a Manille, aucun probleme ni Backshish, juste le demander 1 mois ou moins a l'avance; embassade de Russie en Mongolie, via Legend tour, sans backshish (a priori de nombreuses personnes le font a Almaty via Stantour sans soucis).

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
