Je n'ai pas remis les pieds depuis 9 ans sur Nusa Lembogan et je me demande si à la suite du développement des champs "d'Algues" on peut aujourd'hui s'y baigner aussi facilement qu'avant ?
Salut, je ne sais pas c'était comment avant, mais en juillet 2006, o pouvait se baigner, mais pas trop loin de la plage, car oui il y a des tas de cordes pour faire pousser de l'algues....mais ça reste très baignable.

Ca peut paraître futile comme question, mais comme j'organise une grande réunion familiale à Bali et que je souhaiterai pendant le séjour leur proposer quelques jours de farniente plage avec possibilité de snorkeling et/ou plongée, je voudrais être certaine de faire le bon choix sur le site. Je pensais aux Iles Gilis où toutes les conditions sont réunies mais j'ai des doutes sur la logistique transport et hébergement ...(nous serons 25 personnes)...

hehehe En effet tu as raison d'avoir des doutes. Mais tu as aussi raisond e vouloir aller aux iles Gili. Mais ça se fait...avec beaucoup de logistique et de réservation...quitte à vous rendre en plusieurs batch! hehehe Pour les belles plages, c'est les Gili, mais Legian est pas mal non plus, mais plus de monde et plus touristique.

j etais a Gili Air il y a qqs jours. la plage est est agreable et bien sympa et facile pour le snorkeling, surtout debutants. mais il y a des boats tours des 3 iles avec differents spots pour moins de 10 euros la journee ( 9h/ 15h)
cote logistique, c est facile avec Perrama qui vous depose directement de Padangbai a l ile que vous choisissez. et preacheminement en minibus aussi.
nous etios une dizaine sur le bateau, mais pour un groupe, je vous conseillerai de contacter des maintenant la Compagnie.vous trouverez le site avec Google.
je vous conseille aussi de reserver votre hotel . j etais au Sunrise bungalow pile en face de la zone de snorkeling, ils ont un site , vu le nombre, negociez bien.
s ils n ont pas assez de places il y a de nombreux bungalows autour.

Oui, je connais déjà les Gilis et je voulais justement éviter de faire perdre une journée de transport à mon "groupe"(via Pérama) puisque j'en ai déjà fait l'expérience il y a 9 ans et que j'ai vu que ni la durée ni les moyens de transports depuis Ubud n'avaient changés.....
Bus depuis Ubud puis Ferry à Padanbai où les touristes sont placés sur le pont (histoire de griller un peu..) pendant 4h00 minimum (selon l'état de la mer) ensuite bus + bateau jusqu'à l'ïle de votre choix. Soit minimum 8 h00 de trajet si ma mémoire est bonne...
Par contre c'est vrai que j'ai pas trop d'info sur l'hébergement sur place : à l'époque je l'ai fait plutôt routarde genre 25, 00 Frs le bungalow ( et oui, je faisais encore la conversion en francs à l'époque 😉 ) . Donc c'est cool, je vais allez voir sur le net pour le Sunrise... merci pour le tuyau

Oui, mais bon... c'est plutôt un bon spot pour les surfeurs... Même si la plage est sympa, j'aime mieux un endroit du style petit lagon de mer turquoise plus propice au snorkeling.
Oui, alors là c'est aux Gili qu'il faut aller, mais plus complexe pour 25 personnes......surtout pour le transport et encore plus pour le logement....Bon voyage!
en ce qui concerne la Cie Perama:
bon, depuis Ubud, le bus c est 1h1/2
le bateau pour mon cas a mis 4h, mais n allait sur le pont arriere( couvert) que ceux qui voulaient, pour ma part, je suis descendue pres du coin cuisine , ou l air rentre largement , les portes sont ouvertes.
compte tenu de l etat de la mer, je trouve scabreux d aller sur la partie avant , qui pour moi n est pas un pont, mais il y avait 3 ou 4 personnes.
le bateau, qui n est pas un ferry, arrive en premier a Trawangan puis Meno puis Air. donc il n y a pas de bus a prendre. dans l autre sens , oui, car la Cie n est pas autorisee a faire autrement et doit partir de Sengigi.
l avion est une autre possibilite . mais a d autres inconvenients.
Ah... ça a donc changé... tu me dis : direct Trawagan depuis Padangbaï...

je viens de questionner a ce sujet et l agence me dit que les speed boat repartent des Gili sans passer par Sengigi et qu il y en a tous les jours. mais ces Cies ont un site web, donc vont surement te repondre.
quand j ai traverse avec Perama, il y avait aussi les speed boats en service
J'étais à Lembongan il y a 2 semaines. J'ai surtout fais de la plongée. Les sites sont sympas, possibilités de voir des raies mantas. Les coraux sont en bon état général, plongées dérivantes agréables, beaucoup de petites choses à voir... De juillet à septembre tu as de bonnes chances de voir des molas molas (poisson lune). Pour le PMT tu peux en faire en face de la plage principale. Sinon tous les pêcheurs ont un bateau, tu n'auras aucun mal à te faire déposer sur un spot de snorkeling...
Parmis les plus de l'ile à mon avis : c'était plutôt calme (basse saison), des ghest et restau mais l'ile n'est pas envahie, la plupart des gens vaquent à leurs occupations (donc les algues).
Parmis les moins : 2 énormes barges en face de la plage principale pour les touristes "à la journée" venant de Bali. Pas très joli... De plus, la plage principale n'est pas forcément très "jolie" au 1er abord, mais on s'y fait et au final l'ambiance d"contractée de l'ile prend le dessus. A noter qu'il y a d'autres plages ...

Effectivement, il faut louer un bateau pour aller sur les sites de snorkelling (très bon souvenir, patates de corail bleu...) et donc dépasser les champs d'algues. Ma crainte était surtout de savoir si les champs d'algues n'avaient pas tout bouffés... Me voici rassurée.

Nous planifions un séjour en Thailande pour l'été prochain. C'est un la saison des pluies, mais cela nous permettra de découvrir des parcs forestiers (Khao yai et Khao sok à priori) en pleine floraison et avec plein de bestioles dedans. Nous aimerions pouvoir faire un petit séjour sur des plages avec des récifs coralliens pas loin sur ce séjour. C'est là que le bât blesse car j'ai du mal à trouver une ile ou une région avec une météo propice. J'ai parcouru pas mal de fils sur ce forum, mais assez anciens pour la plupart et donnant quelques noms (Tao, Phaluai, Ma ou Phangnam), mais avec des doutes sur la visibilité ou l’intérêt global. l'affluence semblait aussi un peu forte. je précise que notre famille est mixte sur les activités autour des poissons avec des plongeurs niveaux 1 et des snorkeleurs exclusifs.
Existe t-il donc des possibilités en juillet-aout pour faire de belles choses dans le secteur ?

I’d describe myself as a "former diver." I’ve done around 450 dives in natural environments across different settings. I put diving on hold about 5 years ago due to work/schedule constraints and, let’s say, family reasons. Since then, I’ve still tried to stay in shape with hiking trips, running, swimming, and freediving in protected environments, etc...
I’m planning to get back into the bubbles somewhere this year.

I’d like to go jet skiing, either in Phuket or Koh Samui, but I’d need at least two jet skis since there are three of us. Can my 16-year-old ride alone? Our Bali-Lombok trip is taking shape, but we’d love to wrap up the stay with at least a solid week of snorkeling somewhere the coral is still in great condition. In your opinion, are the Gili Secrets in southern Lombok better than Flores Island, where there are supposedly amazing underwater landscapes?
We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! But I’m not targeting trips for diving; I need to go to Alexandria, so this is a chance to get back into diving and snorkeling).
I’m looking for a spot to do some snorkeling, 1 or 2 baptisms, and explore the surroundings. I’ll arrive in early March on the evening of Day 0. I’ll have 3.5 days after that (I’m planning to leave on Day 4 around 4 PM by bus/train).
Is Hurghada completely to be avoided in favor of another area in the Red Sea, or can I still have a nice 3.5 days there? I know places like Dahab are more pleasant, but the convenience and timing of Hurghada appeal to me...
I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving.
Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

With my advanced certification in hand for a few years now, I’m on the lookout for the best dive spots in Malaysia.
I’ve obviously heard about the Perhentians and Sipadan.
Someone mentioned Tioman too, but not necessarily for diving.
Do you have any feedback on these places for diving? (visibility, marine life diversity, etc.)
Any idea about the rates for fun dives?
Dive centers you’d recommend?

I’m looking for a destination in Vietnam for January to spend a week and go snorkeling.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I know Thailand well, and with my Thai friend, we’d like to try a different country.
This is the excursion we shouldn’t have done in Mauritius.
We did it with The Friendly Dodo, but from what I saw, it’s the same with most agencies.
Departure at 6 a.m. (even though the sun rises at 7 a.m. in August). Why? Because there’s only one well-known spot where the dolphins are, and all the agencies race to get there first.
For 45 to 60 minutes, it’s just straight-line navigation to the spot. No one’s looking for dolphins—we’re just speeding there in silence, full throttle.
Once we arrive, there are already 5-6 boats. The dolphins are there, sure. The boats fight for the best position, cutting off the dolphins’ path, and then—go, go, go—everyone jumps in. Not a single instruction is given on how to approach the dolphins respectfully. Result: everyone jumps in at the same time from 3 boats, creating a huge splash, and rushes toward the dolphins. Outcome: faced with this chaos, the dolphins dive, and you can’t see them from the boat anymore. The swimmers who are right in their path might see them pass below for a few seconds at best.
Everyone climbs back onto the boats, and as soon as the dolphins resurface, the same cycle starts all over again.
After 5 or 6 jumps like this (3 of which I didn’t even see the dolphins), it’s back to the port the same way we came.
Not a single explanation is given during the entire excursion about the dolphins themselves or how to approach them.
Safety-wise, I didn’t feel comfortable either with all the boats fighting for position. I bumped into another boat (no pain) while swimming, and I wasn’t reassured about the propellers.
With all this circus, my daughters didn’t even want to get in the water. The problem is, when you stay on the boat, you don’t get much out of it either—because as soon as the dolphins resurface, everyone jumps in haphazardly and scares them off again.
Having done the same kind of outing in Réunion, I can confirm it’s nothing like this (much better organized and ultimately much more rewarding in Réunion).
Under these conditions, this is an activity we never should’ve done! !

I’ve been in Malaysia for a month now and still have two more to go. I started traveling with friends, but I’ll be solo for the next month and a half.
We did a pretty classic route: Perhentians, Cameron Highlands (which I found pointless), Tioman, and Kinabatangan in Borneo. Now I’m thinking of heading to Redang Island—Langkawi is also an option, but it doesn’t appeal to me as much. Any feedback on these two spots?

Any thoughts on the diving there?
So far, I haven’t had much luck with diving—at the Perhentians, it was pretty disastrous with water at 31°C 😵😫
I’d love to find a nice island where I can meet people (locals and travelers) because going from a group of six to solo at the end is going to feel weird.

notre voyage en Indonésie étant annulé, et notre agence nous déconseillant l'Egypte, nous sommes à la recherche d'un lieu où nous pourrons faire du snorkeling depuis la plage (et en excursion bateau). Je connais un peu Zanzibar pour y être allé il y a plus de 10 ans, ainsi que Pemba (mais les prix ont explosé), et je me tourne aussi vers Mafia.
Est ce propice au snorkeling , des resorts ont ils des house reef où l'on peut voir des choses intéressantes (je ne m'attends pas non plus au niveau de la Sulawesi ou des Raja).

Donc, je planifie de passer l'hiver au sud de l'Europe, et ou vers les Balkans et j'aimerais savoir si c'est partout de la plongée en eau froide donc avec le drysuit et tout ou s'il y a des endroits qui sont superbes et ou je peux plonger avec un suit plus épais seulement même exemple en février et mars. Ce que j'aime en plongée c'est l'eau claire, les fonds marins attrayants, la vie aquatique particulière, etc. Je ne suis pas une fan d'épaves, mais je considérerai tout les sites / pays proposés :)
