Il y a aussi le ferry Dolong-Bubulan (a coté de Marissa) les mercredi et samedi a 8h (5h de trajet) et Bubulan-Dolong dimanche et jeudi a 9h

Notre vol retour de Jakarta vers Paris est prévu le Lundi 08 Janvier à 11 h.
Je pense donc qu'il nous faudrait un vol Gorontalo/Jakarta la veille soit le Dimanche 07
avec un coucher à Jakarta - J'ai trouvé un vol Gorontalo/Jakarta le 07 à 15h.30
avec arrivée à Jakarta à 20h.35
C'est le trajet Togian Gorontalo qui m'interpelle - Quand partir des îles pour Gorontalo
afin de ne pas louper ce vol de 15h.30 - J'avoue être un peu dans le brouillard
Pouvons nous quitter Togian le même jour ou devons nous partir un jour plus tôt
avec un coucher à Gorontalo ????

C'est tjs le même pb : pour ne pas rater l'avion du retour, avoir un jour de battement ... mais passer 1 jour a Jakarta c'est pas terrible pour finir ses vacances !
C'est pour cette raison que lors de notre dernier voyage en Indonésie, notre retour s'est fait depuis Manado vers Kuala Lumpur, ville nettement + sympa que Jakarta pour passer une journée.
Pour le trajet Togians-Gorontalo, il y a 2 possibilités (voir horaires joints) :
- soit Wakai-Gorontalo en ferry de nuit les lundi soir et jeudi soir (10-12h de trajet). L'aéroport est a une bonne 1h de route
- soit Dolong-Marissa/Bubulan en ferry de jour (5 a 6h) les mercredi et samedi matin, puis 2h30 de route jusqu'a l'aéroport. Si l'avion est le matin , il faut passer la nuit a Limboto (16km de l'aéroport) ou il y a qqs hotels basiques.
Compter large car les horaires de bateau sont élastiques (pour prendre le ferry de Dolong a 8h du matin, on est parti en pirogue a 5h de Malenge ... et a cause de l'orage et de la mer agitée on a eu peur de ne pas arriver 🤪). Pas de possibilité de dormir a Wakai et Dolong) et les avions sont parfois annulés (ce qui nous est arrivé a notre départ de Manado pour KL !)
Dans votre cas la seule solution pour un vol le dimanche a 15h30 est de prendre le ferry Dolong-Bubulan du samedi matin (arrivée vers 15h) et passez la nuit vers Bubulan (je crois qu'il y a un hotel assez chouette ds le coin au bord de la mer), ou passer une journée a Limboto (??)

Visiblement il a rouvert avec des vols sur Wings Air en particulier
En 2015 il était desservi uniquement par Aviastar avec 1 ou 2 vols par semaine vers Palu, Luwuk et Gorontalo sur de minuscules coucou

j ai des vols vers singapour maintenant je dois trouver vers sulawesi l objet de notre visite nous avons du 10 /08 a singapour et retour le 28 matin , et je voudrais aller au tijians et pays toraja mais je n aive pas a savoir ou aterir au plus pres ( mais pas au plus cher!!) soit gorontalo et la j ai le probleme des bateux qui ne passent que 2 fois par semaines ou a palu et la j ai 12h pour aller a ampana
je voyage avec 4 enfants donc ils vont vite vouloir aller se baigner et ensuite je voudrais repartir de makassar via djakarta car pas trop cher

Vous avez un vol quotidien Palu-Ampana, une heure de vol par la compagnie Wings Air filiale de Lion Air. Je vous recommande le Fadhila cottage aux îles Togians. Vous pourrez avoir des informations en passant par leur site.

il y a des vols Singapur Makassar. Quel prix? aucune idee. Je l'ai fait en 2014. Surement pas le moins cher.
Ensuite pour aller a Toraja, bon marche c'est prendre le bus. La compagnie aerienne qui dessert Toraja a un site internet.
Sinon, je cherche sur www. Kayak.com ou traveloka.com pour voir les prix des billets. Ce dimanche Bali Makassar est a 467 200 roupies. Bon marche!
Je ne peux pas vraiment te conseiller car cela depend de ce que tu veux obtenir.

Le pb des Togians, c'est le temps de transport pour y aller ..... c'est aussi la chance des Togians car le jour ou il faudra qqs heures depuis KL, Jkarata ou Bali ça sera comme Phuket, Kuta ou Koh Samui 🤪
Donc en 17j il ne faudra pas trainer .... ou alors zapper les Togians 😊
je pense que tous les vols de Singapour vers Palu, Makassar ou Manado passent par Jakarta et coutent au minimum 100-120€
c'est pour cette raison que je suis passé par KL d'ou les vols sont très nettement - chers et souvent directs

Pas de Air Asia a Singapour (prix souvent interessants)
Avec les ferry qui passent 2 fois par semaine je te conseillerais plutot de commencer par les Togians pour racourcir le stop au pays Toraja en cas de retard d'un ferry (des Togians a Ampana il y a le speed-boat tous les jours depuis 2016)
Un exemple de timing a la grosse louche en gardant 1 peu de temps après chaque transfert pour les retards :
J1 Singapour-Jakarta-Gorontalo ou Singapour-Palu par JJKT ou Balikpapan (Borneo)
comptez 1j de battement si ferry pas le bon jour (il y a qqs logements en bord de mer)
J2 Gorontalo-Wakai ou Bubulan-Dolong
J3-9 ou 10 Togians suivant le jour de battement du début
J11-12 Togians-Ampana-Rantepao 2j (ou 3j si bus)
J13-16 Pays Toraj
J16 au soir : bus de nuit VIP confortable Rantepao-Makassar
J17 Makassar SIngapour
Avec de la chance tu fais Singapour Gorontalo et ferry le soir meme tu gagnes 2 j par rapport a ce planning, ou le lendemain et tu gagnes 1j

Les choses ont pu changer depuis. J'étais aux Togians vers le 10 Juin pour 5 jours . Il a fallu faire
vol Manado - Luwuk puis route vers Ampana pour prendre le speed boat de 9H00 . Idem au retour car le Ferry était en carénage pour maintenance . Peut être est ce terminé !!!
Du 31 Mai arrivée à Manado au 10 Juin je me suis baladé à Sulawesi Nord et par 2 fois des établissements étaient ennuyés car des touristes en provenance des Togians avaient réservé mais n'avaient pu repartir à temps de ces îles. . A vérifier bien sûr.
Merci pour vos nombreux posts dont je me suis inspiré pour monter mon voyage de 3 semaines que dans le Nord et qques jours dans ces îles.
Des agences contactées ne me proposaient que des bateaux privés au départ de Gorontalo ou Marisa. Ceci explique peut être cela.

Après un long séjour aux Togians, je suis allée à Tomohon à une heure de bus de Manado, histoire de me dégourdir les jambes. Je me suis posée à la guesthouse Volcano (petits bungalows en bois dans un superbe jardin) les volcans sont proches dont un à trois kilomètres de la guesthouse, une belle promenade autour d'un lac qui se trouve également à proximité. Je vous conseille d'aller sur le site "one day one travel" vous trouverez tous les renseignements sur ce qu'il y à voir à partir de Tomohon. La guesthouse qu'ils citent se trouve juste en face du Volcano.
J'ai beaucoup aimé ce séjour paisible, au mois de mai j'étais la seule hôte du lieu.
Le pays Toraja quoique très beau aussi sera certainement plus peuplé.

Merci pour ce témoignage , j'ai vadrouillé au mois de Juin aux environs de Tomohon, des volcans et des lacs et effectivement on se retrouve seul dans bien des lieux : un régal et ce même aux Togians même tranquillité.

je connais un peu sans plus , donc difficile de te conseiller ou pas : les rizières n'ont rien d'extraordinaire, il y en a de + belles un peu partout; par contre je crois savoir qu'il y a de belles randos ... probablement avec guide vu la densité de la forêt

et qd tu parles d'authenticité, je te rassure : les cérémonies ne sont pas pour les touristes et c'est vraiment un moment fort du voyage a Sulawesi

Je prendrai le ferry de nuit pour Gorontalo et je voudrais savoir si en arrivant tot le matin il est facile de prendre un taxi pour l'aéroport et acheté sur place un vol pour Manado sans réserver a l'avance étant donné que je ne suis pas certaine a 100% du temps que je passerai aux togians. Sur expedia les vols avec Garuda sont tous le soir mais il y en a avec wings air le matin vers 8h. Aurais je le temps et je lis que wings air est un avion a helice et sur le liste noire...vous en pensez quoi?
Si vous pensez que l'aventure est dangereuse, essayer la routine...elle est mortelle!
En Indonésie, on trouve des taxis partout a tout heure, aucun pb surtout a la sortie du ferry même tot le matin

De + tu peux poser une réservation gratuitement valable 5 jours, ce qui te permet de réserver qqs jours avant 2 billets sur 2 jours différents ... et tu confirmes celui qui te convient ... le pb est que tu ne pourra pas réserver depuis les Togians .. pas d'internet
En arrivant avec le ferry du matin , prendre l'avion de 8h05 me parait impossible, l'aéroport est assez loin de Gorontalo (+ d'1 heure) , le ferry peut arriver en retard (habituel) ou en avance (parfois).
Quand a l'avion a hélice, pas de crainte c'est un ATR avion franco-italien, petit turbo-propulseur (2 modèles 42 ou 72 places) très fiable et non un vieux coucou de bande dessinée 😉
Il me semble que Wings AIr n'est plus sur liste noire (à vérifier). De toute façon en Indonésie on oublie les listes noires sinon on reste chez soi 😊

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
