je pars en voyage de noce les 15 premiers jour de novembre, afrique du sud parc kruger et apres 1 semaine mozambique (vilanculos).
Je suis allez voir un medecin a lhopital (des plus antipatique qui ne ma rien explique), et nous a dis de prendre la malarone.
je vais voir mon medecin demain soir pour avoir son avis....
Mais j'aimerais avoir des temoignages de personne qui l'on pris... je suis assez stressée... :(

A cette époque, dans ces régions, en particulier si vous êtes stressée et alors qu'il s'agit d'un voyage de noces, il faut vous protéger contre la malaria.
Suivez les conseils de votre médecin!

Mon épouse était stressée également l'an passé à l'idée de prendre de la malarone.
Et bien ni elle ni moi n'avons eu le moindre souci lors du traitement l'an passé ni cette année. Nous prenions le comprimé à heure fixe, au milieu du repas, en l'accompagnant de produits assez gras (de type beurre de cacahuète, ou chips... 😎). (La notice pharmaceutique recommande de prendre le traitement au cours d'un repas et/ou accompagné d'une boisson lacté.)
Aucun effet secondaire a déploré. Ils sont en fait assez rares avec la Malarone. Soyez rassurée et profitez au maximum de ce voyage unique ! Et félicitations pour votre mariage !
La malarone est censée être l'antipaludéen ayant le moins d'effets secondaires. J'ai eu l'occasion d'en prendre de nombreuses fois, y compris au Mozambique, et mis à part son prix assez exorbitant je n'en garde pas de mauvais souvenir particulier.
C'est le seul antipaludéen qui permet de faire de la plongée, une activité peut-être dans votre programme à Vilankulos, et il ne rend pas nous plus photosensible comme la doxycycline (gênant si on veut faire de la plage...).
En tout cas, en novembre au Mozambique, je ne m'en passerais pas....

Je dirais plutôt : même antipathique, un médecin peut rédiger une ordonnance correcte.
Mais si le patient ressort sans avoir rien compris à ce qu'on lui a prescrit, c'est qu'il a mal fait son boulot.
Mais pour répondre à la question de départ, je ne vois pas où est l'angoisse de s'être fait prescrire de la malarone (à part le prix 🤪, et encore, maintenant le générique existe 😎), c'est réputé être quasi sans effets secondaires.
Il existe un générique (Atovaquone/Proguanil) mis en vente depuis mi-2013 (6 laboratoires ont obtenu leur AMM à ce jour), et qui est à un prix beaucoup plus abordable. Nous l'avons trouvé aux alentours de 13 € au lieu de 30 € auparavant.

le prix effectivement est élevé, mais c'est pas ça qui me fait le plus "stresser", c'est vraiment le fait d'avoir des diarrhées, maux de tête ou autre et de ne pas pouvoir profiter des ces beaux pays pleinement.. pendant ce voyage si particulier.
Comme tout le monde au-dessus : aucun effet secondaire à déplorer pour nous quatre. Nous prenons de la Malarone (ou générique) une ou plusieurs fois par an à chaque voyage en Afrique Australe ou presque.
La question du prix du traitement en est moins une avec le générique.
Enfaîte c'est vrai que même sur ce forum j'avais lu des personnes qui parlais de rêves anormaux.. et c'est pour cela que ça m'a fait réfléchir sur la prise de ce traitement ..?

D'accord, vous avez raison de vouloir en rediscuter avec un médecin qui vous connait bien mais ne vous stressez pas trop : la Malarone est vraiment un produit fiable.
oui, mais j'avoue qu'avoir des témoignages positifs, fait du bien. car sur internet les personnes ont tendances à marquer quand cela ne va pas et rarement quand tout se passe bien... donc cela me rassure quand même.
De manière plus scientifique, après lecture de la notice des effets indésirables éventuels, on voit que la pharmacovigilance n'a fait remonter aucun cas officiel de troubles du sommeil, tels que des rêves "anormaux".
Si ce symptôme a déjà été constaté, il ne l'a été que de manière extrêmement isolé.
Nous avons pris la malarone en Août (2 parents et 3 ados).
Prise pendant le dîner.
On a commencé la veille d'arriver à St Lucia et 7 jours après le Kruger.
RAS de notre coté.
A noter qu'on l'a trouvé à 16€ la boite dans une pharmacie qui faisait un prix.
Petite anecdote. A Dubai on retrouvait les passagers en provenance d'Asie du Sud Est qui avaient du mal à caler leur "heure fixe"... On s'est dit que l'Afrique du Sud pour ça, c'était parfait !

C'est un effet secondaire du Lariam, pas de la Malarone.

Je prends du Lariam mais pense honnêtement que les éléphants roses sont une suite du "red" Sudaf et pas du Lariam...
Juste pour info: Lariam parce que:
- C'est moins cher.
- Je ne peux pas prendre de Malarone, j' ai une contre indication allergique hépathique (c' est vrai).
Et juste pour remettre quelques pendules à l' endroit, les effets secondaires des antipaludéens sont bien un problème de riches, les locaux seraient contents de se protéger - réserve faite des temps de traitement, mais le corps médical Sudaf dit trois ans quand l' agence du médoc dit trois mois -, effets secondaires (en l' occurence d' une immense banalité) ou pas..
J' ai été confronté à une co-voyageuse qui a priori ne voulait pas prendre d' antipaludéeens.. J' ai pris le conseil d' un copain de Cape Town (Pierre, tu sais qui c 'est), grand voyageur et chirurgien (réputé) de son état: la réponse est tombée rapidement et sèchement: si elle persiste, tu ne l' emmènes pas...c' est pas plus compliqué que ça..

je suis toujours stupéfait de voir que sur un problème de santé on préfère prendre les avis d'inconnus derrière un ordinateur plutot que ceux d'un professionnel en face a face (désagréable ou pas...).
Quant aux effets secondaires, attendez de voir ceux de la malaria, c'est autrement plus désagréable.

Aujourd'hui je n'ai pas dis que je ne prendrais pas la malorone, je suis juste angoissé à l'idée de la prendre c'est pour cela que je demande a ceux qui l'ont déjà pris. Je sais bien que tout les corps sont différents.. mais l'avis.. est toujours bon a prendre.
Je ne pense pas qu'il n'y est de mal a faire cela.
et de plus, le medecin que j'ai vu, n'a pas repondu a mes questions du tout. quand j'ai posé la question sur les effets du la malarone et il rien répondu... on fait quoi dans ces cas là !?

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

It was recently confirmed that this is due to rabies.
The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.
Preventive vaccination (of the animals) is being considered.

Rabies affects all mammals.
Once symptoms appear—sometimes weeks or even months later—death is inevitable.
It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
In case of a bite, in addition to standard wound care, tetanus prevention… rabies prevention is essential.
