Hi there, For my layover in Mauritius on the way to Rodrigues, I need to collect my luggage and go through Corsair checks again since they don’t have a codeshare with Air Mauritius. How much time should I allow? I’d love to hear from a traveler who’s been through this. Have a great day!

Hello, For my layover in Mauritius on the way to Rodrigues, I need to collect my luggage and go through Corsair controls again since they don’t have a codeshare with Air Mauritius.... How much time should I allow? I’d love to hear from a traveler who’s done this before. Have a great day, everyone!

Hi, I’ve done this layover several times (last time in 2019). Back then, no matter which flight you arrived on, you had to collect your luggage. I arrived around 6:30 AM with Air France and was able to catch a flight to Rodrigues at 7:45 AM—it’s doable since you leave the main hall and board from a small hall right next to it. I also know there was a second flight to Rodrigues scheduled an hour later. The longest part is waiting for your luggage—once you’ve got it, you’re at the Rodrigues boarding gate in under 5 minutes. You can easily catch the first flight in 1–1.25 hours. Just a reminder, my last experience was in 2019. I hope you have a great stay in Rodrigues—I love that destination!

Hi,

With two separate tickets, meaning two contracts with two different airlines, you’re taking a small risk if the Corsair flight is delayed (or even canceled).

The risk is much higher for the return flights. Check out this traveler’s unfortunate experience: https://voyageforum.com/forum/litige-air-mauritius-suite-correspondance-ratee-d4772063/

Plan for a buffer day, at least on the way back.

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. It should be okay because on the way back I’m stopping in Mauritius. I’m mainly wary of Air Mauritius (they don’t have a great reputation), which is why I’m doing Rodrigues first with Corsair—I’ve never had any issues with them. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed! 🤞 Have a great day.

Hi again

I’m heading to Mauritius for my 12th trip at the start of December, and I’ve always preferred Air Mauritius for the simple reason that they got the A350 way before anyone else, and it’s way more comfortable than the older Airbus or Boeing planes. It’s just my opinion, of course

Corsair works well for me, especially since they started doing Marseille-Mauritius direct. Just a stop in Réunion without even leaving the plane, plus the staff has always been really friendly.
