Mon ami et moi partons pour 15 jours de Paris vers Koh Samui (12 jours), puis les 3 derniers jours vers Bangkok.
Nous avons réservé 2 beaux hotels sur le site www.hoteltravel.com; quelqu'un parmu vous connaît-il ce site ?
Nous avons réservé les hotels suivant : Nora Beach Resort sur la plage de Chaweng à Samui Grand Diamond and Executive Residence à Bangkok
Connaîtriez-vous ces hotels ? Histoire d'en avoir un petit aperçu ?
En arrivant sur Bangkok, nous avons réservé un vol interne vers Samui. J'ai fait la réservation sur le site de Bangkok Airways qui m'a remis une sorte de Voucher électronique. Je dois apparemment, une fois à l'aéroport, remettre ces vouchers avec la CB avec laquelle j'ai fait la réservation. Avez-vous déjà utilisé ce systéme ? Ce n'est pas trop compliqué (surtout pour se faire comprendre en cas de pépin ?), on ne sait jamais !!!
Y'a t'il une taxe en arrivant à Bangkok ? De même pour Samui ?
Peut-on retirer du liquide ou changer des euros à l'aéroport ?
A oui, une autre petite question au sujet de l'aéroport : comment se rendre depuis les terminaux internationaux vers celui des vols internes ? Nous avons juste 2 petites heures entre notre atterrissage et le décollage vers Samui.
Une fois à Samui, est-ce que l'on trouve facilement des taxis pour nous emmener vers l'hôtel ? Combien la course coûte-telle ? J'ai l'inscription du nom et de l'adresse de l'hôtel en Thailandais, donc ça, ça devrait aller !
Que faire et que voir à Samui, mis à part la plage et la piscine de l'hôtel. Est-il possible de faire du golf ? De la plongée, ou d'autres sports aquatiques ??? Bien sûr ma question est un peu naîve ! Je me doute que oui, mais j'aimerais bien en connaître les tarifs ! ;o)
Est-il possible de louer à la journée, ou à la semaine, des VTT ou une petite mobylette ? Et quels en sont également les prix ?
Toujours pour Samui, quels sont les lieux à visiter en priorité, les petits restos sympa et pas trop chers, typiquement thailandais ?
Nous n'avons réservé que l'hotel plus le petit déj', alors, si vous avez des adresses sympas, merci de nous en faire part ;o)
Maintenant concernant Bangkok, de retour à l'aéroport, y a t-il des bus qui mènent directement au centre ville ? Quel en est le tarif ?
De même, quel est le tarif de la course en taxi depuis l'aéroport vers le centre ville ?
Comme nous n'y restons que 3 jours, pourriez vous nous dire quels sont les endroits à visiter impérativement ? Temples, musées, etc;, avez-vous de bonnes adresses de masseurs (en tout bien tout honneur !), de restos, etc...
Est-il possible de faire du snorkeling sur Samui et surtout sur les petites îles environnantes à moindre coût ? ( 15-20 euros la journée ). Si oui, comment s'y rendre ?
J'ai consulté les sites de plongée sur Samui, et je trouve ça assez cher, au minimum 65 euros la journée.
Je sais que cette liste est très longue, bien que non exhaustive ( ! ), de toutes les questions que nous nous posons ! Bien sûr nous avons glâné des infos à droite et à gauche sur le web et dans divers guides, mais les témoignages vécus sont toujours les plus intéressants !!!

Je suis sûr de ne pas répondre à tout, mais voici une ou 2 choses à savoir. Sinon tu peux faire une recherche sur les messages déja postés sur le forum.
Il faut pour commencer ne pas trop te poser de questions justement, tout est cool et fonctionne bien en Thaïlande.
Pour changer d'aéroport c'est très simple. Il y a des navettes qui passent devant l'aéroport. Tu vas au terminal "domestic". C'est gratuit et juste un arrêt à côté. Pour ton billet tout ira simplemet au guichet avec la gentille hotesse de terre. Il y a des distributeurs d'argent partout.
Pour aller en ville, je prends toujours le taximeter. Compter 300 baths environ, avec les taxes de l'express way (si tu le prends). Les bus je sais pas trop, mais après 14h de vol. Je ne me pose pas la question.
Tes hotels je ne les connais pas, mais la plage de Chaweng est la plus peuplée, populaire de l'île, c'est selon les goûts. Des coins sympas. Je n'aime pas la rue principale, enfin ce qu'elle est devenue, entre les Macdo, KFC et autres. Pour être au calme c'est pas exactement l'endroit.
Par contre un restaurant que j'ai adoré, pour se faire plaisir, c'est le budsaba. Un peu plus cher que les autres mais ça en vaut la peine. C'est un ancien cuisinier du roi.
Je suis allé 4 fois à Samuï, en 92, 93, 94 et 2004... Je dois dire, que ça a bien changé biensur. Je suis bcp moins fan maintenant. Toujours est-il que pour 12 jours vous allez être bien.
Une autre chose, je sais qu'il est trop tard, mais j'aime bien réserver mes hotels au feeling sur place. Je n'achète qu'un billet d'avion à l'avance. On évite de mauvaises surprises. Même si ici on te donnera de bonnes adresses.
Les autres vont complèter ce que j'ai oublié...mais il faut faire ses expériences sur place, selon l'humeur. Au goût du jour

Pour les billets : il suffit de se présenter avec votre numéro, pas de problème, présentez vous 30 min minimum avant le départ sinon vos places pourrons être remisent en service.
Pour la navette (international - domestique) sortez par les protes vitrées de l'aéroport allez a gauche au bout. il y a un panneau d'indication.
Pour changer il y a des bureaux de change a l'aéroport ou des distributeurs de billets (billets thai bien sur) la priorité étant de ne pas traîner si jamais votre vol avais du retard. Sinon prenez le temps de changer un peux d'argent 50 E par exemple pour le taxi ou autre.
A samui :
Aéroport -> hotel 2 min en taxi 200 a 400 b (souriez dite que vous connaissez et que ce n'est pas loin).
Votre hôtel, est un très bel hôtel en bord de plage avec une très grande piscine.
Il y a un magnifique Golf a Samui et vue mer s'il vous plais.
Il y a bien sur de la plonge et du snorkeling, balade en bateau, pêche... pour repas compris 1500 bath (plus ou moins) après tout dépend si vous voulez un tour touristique ou prive et aller ou vous voulez.
Pour les massages, vous pouvez aller dans chaweng, sinon il y a un salon pas loin de votre hôtel qui est très bien.
Sinon le top c'est le SPA qu'il y a en face de votre hôtel c'est très très très bien. Je connais très bien le patron.
Vous pouvez louer une motobike 150 a 200 b par jour suivant les modèles. (bien choisir le loueur), il y a un francais a lamai, mais le mieux pour vous serais quand meme pas loin de l'hotel en revenant sur chaweng il y a le moon light hotel en face il y a une thai qui est tres bien, sinon le plus gand loueur c'est SP tres serieux et gentil en face du Samui International Hospital. Bon emplacement c'est pour recuperer les motos plus vite, je plaisante mais je vous metes en garde faitent tres attention en moto ou sur la route.
Il y a beaucoup de petit resto sympa, en sortant de votre hôtel allez a droite, faire 2-3 km et arrêtez vous a choeng moon beach retos pas cher et très bon sur la plage. Je me rappel avoir manger la a 4 pour 1000 b mais franchement on aurais pu manger a 6 ou 8.
3500 bath pour la plonge c'est pas cher il y a le matos, les cours et la plonge en elle même, c'est très sécurisé je trouve pas ca cher.
Si vous êtes perdu ou que vous voulez un conseil ou une adresse n'hésitez pas si vous voulez mes coordonnées il n'y a qu'a demander (avec le sourire 😏), beaucoup de gens VF me contact une fois sur place, je ne les rencontres pas tous ou juste une fois et avec quelques indications ils se débrouillent très bien rien n'est complique ici.
Quand venez vous a Samui, mes parents serons la en août dans l'hôtel en face du votre peu être nous verrons nous.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
