bientoot sur le depart j'ai d'abord voyagé sur la toile histoire de lire les periples des autres et là je conseille le blog suivant : http://saphalhos.free.fr/ ce sont les plus belles photos "amateur" ke j'ai pu observer sur le net et de plus sa plume est alerte et interessante .....! et je le connais pâs moi ce brave homme donc c pas de la pub copain !
sinon je cherche toujours des temoignages de location de moto (250cm3) sur une duree de 1a 2 semaines de PP ou ailleur mais surtout de voyageurs ki auraient testé ce moyen sans le permis moto : infos sur les prix et les controles policiers possibles .... bref ke peut il m'arriver kom desagrement si je loue une moto sans avoir le permis mooto ! je compte faire le nord est ainsi !

A prévoir le pire on est jamais déçu
sans permis c'est toujours possible mais extrêmement dangereux en cas d'accident et en cas de contrôle
c'est une chose à vraiment éviter cela a été dit plusieurs fois ; déjà en cas d'accident avec un permis ce n'est vraiment pas facile mais sans permis c'est un bon pour un petit long séjour a l'ombre des cocotiers ;
le sud est asiatique n'attend que des voyageurs pris en défaut ; la raison est simple si on est pris en defaut cela coûte très très cher en euros ou en dollars et c'est ce que aime la police ;
comme tout le monde le sait on peut tout faire mais il faut bien connaitre les conséquences ;
a tire d'exemple lire le post sur l'accident a kho samui ; cela peut donner a réfléchir ;

Il faut absolument éviter d'être en dehors de la légalité en Thaïlande, surtout en tant que "farang". En effet, la police contrôle en priorité les occidentaux, et même si on a rien à se reprocher, certains flics (pas tous, mais j'aurais tendance à dire que les types honnêtes sont plutôt l'exception qui confirme la règle ici) cherchent toujours un prétexte pour vous extorquer de l'argent (souvent, on s'en sort avec une centaine de bahts ou un peu plus... quand on a rien fait, je répète !). Alors, si en plus tu n'es pas en règle, ça va être ta fête et le "jackpot" pour les MIB ("men in brown" = hommes en brun, car leur tenue est de couleur marron) !!!
Si tu as déjà un permis auto français, tu dois normalement pouvoir piloter légalement des motos de moins de 125 cm3 (mais pour une 250 cm3, tu as besoin de passer un permis moto). Il est préférable de faire "internationaliser" ton permis avant de venir en Thaïlande. Si tu leur présentes un permis international, il faut qu'il t'autorise à conduire le véhicule que tu utiliseras. Ceci dit, beaucoup de flics ne sauront pas déterminer si ton permis international est valable ou non, mais il ne faut pas prendre de risques inutiles. Si jamais il arrive un pépin, on te cherchera des pous dans la tête, tu peux en être certain !
Il est possible de passer son permis en Thaïlande (en fait, il me semble qu'il s'agit d'une licence annuelle renouvelable). Mon beau-père (il est Thaï) a eu son permis alors qu'il conduit vraiment comme un pied. En fait, j'ai compris qu'il avait simplement payé un peu plus que le prix normal pour obtenir la licence, et voilà ! Pas très rassurant, mais cela explique en partie pourquoi la Thaïlande est classé comme le 6ème pays où le nombre d'accidents par habitants est le plus élevé (je me demande quels sont les 5 premiers !?) d'après une édition du journal "Bangkok Post" l'an dernier... Enfin, tout cela pour dire qu'il n'est pas très difficile - a priori - d'obtenir un permis dans ce pays, alors, si tu as le temps, c'est peut-être une chose à faire sur place !
En tout cas, ne roule pas sans assurance ni permis valable !!! Conseil d'ami !

Au cambodge, ton permis, c'est tes dollars. Tout le monde s'en fiche et en cas de probleme, de toutes facons tu as tort. Tu pleurnicheras un peu et tu lacheras quelques dollars (j'ai bien dit quelques) aux policiers s'ils t'arretent. detoutes facons, s'ils t'arretent, c'est uniquement pour ca. Pas de permis, pas de casque, rien du tout. ce pays n'est pas un pays comme on l'entend habituellement. au mieux, le policier en face gagne 22 dollars par mois, et ce, quand il est payé. Amuse toi bien, fais attention, les cambodgiens conduisent mal et lentement. Si tu vas plus vite qu'eux, tu t'exposes a beaucoup de risques: la route est une extension du jardin des gens. Fais particulierment attention aux vaches qui traversent ou sont au bord de la route, ainsi qu'aux enfants.

le permis international est plus que conseiller ; devant un tribunal le permis rose n'a aucun effet ; toujours prévoir le pire la boucle cheng mai pai mae hong song est un classique sans problèmes juste faire un peut attention a la sortie cheng mai du aux camions et bus ;

salut, a phon phen, tu pourrais louer des motos bien entretenue, il y a les adresses dans le lonely du cambodge je crois, par contre tu vas aussi bien te faire rackétté par les flics pour n'importe quel pretxte (tu laches quelques dollars et des clops ça passe. J'avais louer une 250cc a kampot, par l'intermediaire des guset house, moi j'ai le permis mais si tu as l'argent on ne te demandera rien....tout ce monnaye, ils s'en foute que tu es le permis ou pas en cas d'accident de toute façon c'est pour ta pomme et tu cours un gros risque
j'ai gardé la becane 8 jours, etait a kep, a shianoukville au parc du bokor, et dans les environs....
moi je te dis cela mais apres tu fais comme tu veux, la conduite la-bas c'est sport.....tu rencontres, toutes sortes de choses sur la route et les cambodgiens sont loin d'etre des super pilote, attention aux animaux, aux gens (j'ose meme pas imaginé si tu renverse quelqu'un).....j'ai une certaine habitude de la moto mais je peux te dire que la-bas je faisais pas le malin, d'autant que les casques sont en cartons!
moi a ta place je me contenterai d'une petite becane sans permis tu vas deja bien t'amuser et te faire quelques frayeurs!

Je suis très surpris d'apprendre qu'il existe un permis moto en Thailande... J'ai acheté et conduit une 200 cc puis une 400 cc pendant des années sans le moindre problème avec la police.
La seule raison qui ait fait que la police m'arrête était quand je ne portais pas de casque sur une mobylette. Là ils ont contrôlé aussi mon permis et comme il n'était pas international, ils ont majoré le PV, bilan 400 baht pour défaut de casque et de permis inter (avant tu glissait 200 baht au flic et il te laissait, mais en ce moment ils semblent jouer les incorruptibles). C'est drôle parce que quand tu regardes les thais en mob, ils n'ont aucun permis et certains n'ont même pas l'âge de conduire (je parle même pas de la plaisanterie qu'est leur permis, il doivent avoir 10 panneaux à leur code de la route et ils viennent faire la fine bouche sur un permis français, bon ils sont chez eux). Bref, si tu évites les accidents et porte ton casque, la police ne t'embêteras pas en ville.
Sur les routes c'est différent, il y a de nombreux points de contrôles sur toutes les routes du pays. Des fois ils t'arrêtent, je n'ai eu aucun problème avec mon permis rose au volant d'une voiture, j'ai jamais testé en moto.
Face à un policier ça dépend du premier contact. Il faut réussir un cocktail pas évident de sourire, de respect mais en se plaçant en supérieur, sûr de soi (sans se la pèter).

pour info en thailande il n'existe pour les thailandaus qu'une assurance au tiers ( qui coute en Thailande moins de 20 euro par an ! ) et un étranger touriste - permis international ou pas - n'a pas d'autre couverture que son assurance Mondial assistance ou autre lorsqu'il conduit
et EN AUCUN CAS d'assurance dommages corporel d'un tiers ou d'assurance responsabilité civile idem pour toutes les locations d'engins de loisir, moto quad, jet ski ...

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert helped sail a boat through the Greek islands looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals worked at a street art festival in Morocco created videos for local associations and projects worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

Hi, I’d like to take a 15-day "break" to get away from the surrounding hustle and bustle.
Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.
Do a loop.
What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike. Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering: Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*? Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?

Hello everyone! Like every year, a winter migration is on the horizon (revised plan): this time, it’ll be Dakar, or even Abidjan, via Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal.
Looking for an experienced motorcyclist or pillion rider—small build preferred—on a GSA 1250 with a comfy seat and luggage setup, available from early November to late December 2025. I’d like to plan the trip together (important to me) to make sure we’re on the same wavelength.

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day. Here’s the idea: Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15) Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34) Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe) Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h) Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45) Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45) Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20) Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22) Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43) End of the trip 😮.

We haven’t booked any hotels—is that a problem? We were thinking of deciding day by day based on our progress.
Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?
