je finalise mon itinéraire en thailande avec la partie sud ouest, et je voulais savoir si mes choix étaient intéressants, et connaîtres vos bons plans ? parc de khao sok : vos conseils de logement et avec qui faire un jungle treck ? iles similan : l'excursion vaut elle le coup vs le snorkeling que je ferais vers ko phangan ? un conseil d'agence avec qui partir ? combien cela va-t-il me coûter ? faut il reserver longtemps à l'avance ? krabi : on me l'a déconseillé, on m'a dit qu'il n'y avait rien à faire. du coup, ou faut-il loger avant d'aller sur ko phi phi, quels sont les sites intéressant à voir ? ko phi phi: d'après tout ce que je lis sur le forum, la plage la plus intéressante coté tranquilité est long beach. Avez vous des hotels/bungalows à me conseiller ?
Pourtant sur le moteur de ""Rechercher"" tu trouves toutes réponses à tes questions en tapant seulement les lieux dîtes et infos très récents en plus, cela t'aideras beaucoup en premier pas .

c'est l'itinéraire qu'on a prévu.
dans les moteurs de recherche il n'y a pas tant d'infos sur khao sok et les iles similan, donc je voudrais avoir votre opinion sur leur intérêt.
Fin mars ca devrait encore joué pour le temps et l'accès aux similans mais tu as mal cherché, il y a pleins d'infos sur les similans dont des très récentes 😉
Pour fin mars pas de soucis c'est encore une très bonne période même très chaud à cette période, sûrement que tu n'es pas habitué avec le moteur de recherche mais regarde CECI là tu as pas mal de posts à ce sujet . Pour les réservations lorsque tu seras sur place pas de problème tu vas dans une agence de voyage ce n'est pas ce qui manque et en plus fin mars encore du monde mais pas de trop comme en haute saison donc bien plus facile pour t'organiser tes trips . 😉

pour phi phi la plage la plus tranquille et la plus belle et longue c'est ao la bakao y a l'hotel phi phi island village qui est juste là au bord. derrière cet hotel il y a des bungalow beaucoup moin cher dans le village hippy. sa dépend se que tu recherche.
depuis cette plage tu peux allé à la plage juste derrière en 10 min à pied c'est ao lo lana.
pour krabi c'est super beau sa vaut la peine d'y allé après sa dépend se que tu recherche comme logement ....depuis là tu peux allé sur les ile envirionante tu peux allé à railay tu peux meme y loger.
pour faire un jungle treck dans khao sok. j'y suis allé mais je ne sais pas le nom de l'agence. on a réservé dans une petite boutique qui se trouve juste avant d'arrivé à l'hotel merlin de khao lak. s'était bien parsqu'on était juste nous pour toute la journée. si tu va à khao lak tu trouvera sans problème l'agence.

Pour ce que je sais, Près du PHI PHI ISLAND VILLAGE il y a le PP LAGOON RESORT propre avec 2 sortes de case, en dur 1700thb en bamboo 1300tbh et effectivement tu peux allè a AO LOH LANA (5mn à pied) et AO NUI (15mn à pied)
Krabi super beau ? Faut pas exagérer si on parle de la ville elle même qui est intèressante, mais un bel exmple d'architecture thai de la fin du XXe siècle (cerca 1980)😄😄 En revanche à 15 kilometres, tu as les plages de Ao Nang, Railay et Tonsai, et toues les petites iles en face.
A Phi Phi, Long Beach est le compromis idéal parce qu'en cinq minutes tu es au village et la plage est aussi belle sinon plus que Loh Bakao. De plus en marchant cinq minutes, on se retrouve à Lohmudee, avec une plage quasiment pour soi tout seul (le touriste est grégaire et n'aime pas marcher)

Pour Khao sok on a été un peu décus. On est pourtant partis avec une agence "connue" et citée plusieurs fois sur ce forum mais les prestations étaient moindres par rapport aux autres excursions qu'on a pu faire avant et après (qui étaient top il faut reconnaitre). Beaucoup de trajet de Phuket (6h aller-retour 🤪) et finalement ce qu'on a vu la bas n'avait rien d'extraordinaire.
Petite ballade en canoe plus ballade en éléphants ensuite, somme toute agréable mais on s'attendait à trouver une jungle plus fournie, avec quelques animaux, une végétation plus dense etc... Peut etre que c'était pas la bonne période ?...
Pourtant le parc est réputé, sans doute que dormir et passer au moins deux jours sur place donne des sensations plus proches de celles qu'on espérait trouver.
Si le temps est compté je déconseille l'excursion one day à moins de se trouver à proximité (et peut etre si on y va juste après la saison des pluies).

Mais Khao Sok, c'est le plus bel endroit du monde! C'est la dernière foret tropicale humide! la plus grande de Thailande...
Je n'avais pas même imagine qu'il y ait des agences qui y proposent des excursions a la journée au départ de Phuket. C'est complètement absurde, effectivement. Il faut y venir pour une semaine a Khao Sok si la nature, la jungle, vous attire.
Vous y verrez une jungle dense, impressionnante, exubérante, immense. La canope de Khao Sok est a une hauteur vertigineuse. Partout les secoyas, les lianes, de multiples épiphytes s'accrochent aux arbres formant des silhouettes parfois élégantes, parfois imposantes, souvent extravagantes.
La faune de Khao sok est aussi très riche, variée, rare. Mais sauvage. Vous pourrez observer des insectes plus saugrenus les uns que les autres, de multiples batraciens et autres lézards, vous croiserez quelques serpents, vous ne pourrez rater les sangs-sues... Et au détour d'un chemins, un groupe de singes. Il y a plus d'une dizaines d'espèces. Dont les fameux Gibbons qu'on entend beaucoup (un chant parfois très mélodieux) mais qui se méfient terriblement de nous. je ne vous souhaite pas de rencontrer un éléphant sauvage, mais ça n'est pas impossible (justement, en se moment, les excursion sont limitées car ils se rapprochent de plus en plus du village), mais vous apprécierez peut être la particulière odeur de leur urine et mettrez votre pied dans une de leurs empruntes. Ou un sanglier? Un varan? Un coq sauvage?
Enfin, c'est le paradis des amoureux des oiseaux.
Bref, a ne pas rater.
Enfin, voila, j'ai pas pu m'empecher! Je suis completement tombee amoureuse de Khao Sok moi (et d'un de ses habitants aussi au passage! 😉)... D'ailleurs, je compte m'y installer bientôt.
Ceci dit, Pour les bungalows, difficile de te conseiller, beaucoup se valent. se sont pour la plus part de petites structures familiales. Du très simple avec des charmes divers. Tu n'auras aucun mal a trouver sur place, je te conseille de choisir au feeling. sachant qu'a priori, ceux qui ont des bungalows de libre attendent les clients potentiel a l'arrêt du bus. Laisse toi faire par celui qui te parait le plus sympa et si le lounge ou il t'emmène ne te plais pas plus que ça, n'hésite pas a aller voir ailleurs, fait un petit tour autour, ils sont tous dans le même coin!
Quant au guide, va voir Nopporn, a la mini station service qui est a l'entrée du village. C'est le meilleur sur Khao Sok. En ce moment, il ne bosse plus comme guide, mais d'ici la fin du mois, il pourra peut-être a nouveau. Sinon, de toutes façons, il est toujours ravi de renseigner un touriste et te donnera les meilleurs tuyaux...
Dis lui que tu viens de la part de Mathilde, ca sera l'occasion pour moi de lui faire un clin d'oeil.
pour les similan tu vas a khao lak et là, tu fais l'excursion d'un jour ou plusieurs jours, il y a des bungalows sur place que tu peux louer pour pas chers, c'est très intéressant. mais a khao lak, tu trouveras toutes les infos quetu veux
Je suis également sur le moteur de recherche, et je ne sais plus si je serai dans la bonne saison pour aller à Puket et Ko Phi Phi.

Bonjour Evelyne, non tu ne te trompes pas, a cette période mieux vaut s'orienter sur la mer Andaman que le golfe de Thailande même si la météo est assez aléatoire ces dernière années, c'est quand même une période ou il pleut souvent a samui, des trombes je sais pas mais beaucoup oui, enfin moi je n'ai pas pu y aller a cette période depuis 2 ans pour cette raison 😕

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

Thanks for all your contributions on the forum—they’ve really helped me plan my trip. There are four of us friends heading to Sulawesi for 20 days. Based on all your advice, I’ve put together the following itinerary:
July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
