pour préparer notre voyage (5 semaines cet été)
Quels sont les lieux branchés du moment bar, boites galeries d'art comtemporain
existe t-il à Bangkok des lieux un peu alternatifs d'etudiants thais aux beaux arts par exemple
des petits bars où les artistes du coin aiment se retrouver, des magasins de jeunes stylistes
thailandais...

Pour les boites de nuit tu as Kao San Road, mais tu as surtout la rue appelée "RCA".
Tu dis "RCA" (prononcé à l'anglaise) à n'importe quel taxi et il t'y emmenera. Toute la jeunesse Thai s'y retrouve, et tu as de tout, techno, rap, hip hop, musique Thai, etc...
Budapest c'est sympa mais pas très dépaysant. Et quand on a connu l'Asie, et bien l'Europe parait un peu fade à côté. En revanche je garde un excellent souvenir de la Roumanie, qui est vraiment un magnifique pays avec des gens très simples.
Mais d'ici 3 mois, direction l'Asie pour 1 à 2 ans minimum...enfin si je trouve un stage...🤪
L'Europe de l'est je trouve ça quand plus dépaysant que l'Espagne ou l'Italie
je rentre de Pologne et déjà rien que la langue aussi incompréhensible que du
chinois!

Hello a toutes et tous ! Hier, je suis rentré d'un mois au LOS ( Koh Pha Ngan /Tao). A Bangkok, dans le quartier de Sukhumvit Road, j'ai testé "la" boite branchée du moment : Bed Supperclub

Attention ! L'entrée est a 700 THB par personne (1000 THB = environ 20 Euros), il faut avoir son passeport et ne pas vous pointer en tongs, maillot de bain et torse nu lol C'est pas une beach-party au "Drop-In" sur la plage d'Haad Rin (Koh Pha Ngan). La PAF vous donne droit a deux tickets de consommations.
Les DJ's qui mixent House Music sont dignes des meilleurs de clubs de Paris ou New York et il y a un live de percu latinos geniales en milieu de soirée en ce moment.
Beaucoup de Farangs en goguette avec la fine fleur des thais friqués branchés.
Déco cool.
On ne regrette pas sa soirée !
Dans le genre original, tu pourrais aussi tester "Cascades" à Nana Plaza

Je suis étudiant a Paris mais mes parents résident a Bangkok donc je vien souvent les voir et forcement, je sort plutot pas mal.
En ce qui concerne Kao San, ce n'est plus du tout ce que c'était. Avant, c'était une rue ou tout le monde venait faire la fète et tout les bar était plein mais maintenant, il manque pas mal d'ambiance. Néanmoin, quelque bar reste très sympa a voir comme le Gullivert a l'entré de la rue qui met de la musique jusqu'à 1h du matin avec une variété sympa... Pas mal de monde en bas et une musique très forte ou on a du mal a parler avec ses voisins. Le haut est aussi un endroit sympa pour discuter et jouer sur les nombreuse table de billard. Ensuite, sur Kao San, un bar sympa se trouve dans un petit sort paralle a Kao San a 50 metre du gullivert : le Sawadee Inn. Deux etages: Le bas avec des table sympa donnant sur l'exterieur et le haut avec des billard et une bonne musique masi peu de place pour bouger. Il est plutot conseiller d'y aller apres 1h sinon il n'y a personne.
Enfin sur Kao San, THE CLUB peut etre bien mais je n'est jamais tester, j'ai lu :"3 etage, bonne musique, bonne ambiance"
Voila pour Kao San, mais ce n'est pas forcement les bar branché que l'on retrouve ici.
Ensuite, Paptpong. J'aime beaucoup Silom Soy 4, la rue plutot Gay de bangkok mais ou reigne une ambiance hors norme. Les gens sont vraiment gentils et il ne faut pas forcement etre gay pour aller boir un verrre dans cette rue. Tout les Bar sont plutot sympa mais j'aime tout particulierement le dernier BAR BAR ou les canaper sont tres confortable a l'exterieur. Ensuite, certain bar comme le lucifere ou le Crazy Modgo ferme vers 3-4h donc c'est asser bien pour finir la soiré. Evité les Bar a GOGO ou du moin demander le prix de la bierre avant... et faite attention
Le lieux branché de Bangkok est innevitablement R.C.A. On retrouve ici toute la jeunesse doré de Thailande et tout les expat qui vont dans ces enorme boite. Vraiment sympa mais il faut déja avoir 20 ans et son passport avec sois. Ensuite, l'ambiance est vraiment rres tres bien, les boite sont enorme en Thai. Les meilleur sont la Route 666 et l'Astra avec des grand DJ connu qui vienne faire leur apparition de temps en temps.
Ensuite pour finir par le meilleur, le Bed Superclub et le Q Bar sur sukumvit Soy 11. C'est deux bar tout simplement genial. La musique est tres bonne et on y retrouve toute les jeunesse branché (et plutot friqué).
Voila, j'espere que ces petite adresse vous seront utiles.
Le Bed est une boite très classique, comme on en trouve partout en France. C'est sympa certe, mais les boites Thai sont nettement plus animées.
Quant au patron du Bed Club, j'ai passé une soirée avec lui, et bien, je préfère donner mon argent à quelqu'un d'autre...malgré qu'il nous ait offert le Chivas Regal toute la soirée...comme quoi...🤪
Je suis tout a fait d'accord pour dire que le Bed est une boite qui vaut les club de France mais cela reste une tres belle boite avec beaucoup d'ambiance. Je prefere l'ambiance de la Thailande a celle de nimporte quelle boite parisienne. Apres chacun juge comme il le veux.
Kan au patron, je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de le rencontrer mais je te croi que il peut etre desagréable...
Les endroits les plus sympas (à mon avis), sont les immenses restaurants extérieurs, mais pour les trouver il faut aller un peu en dehors du centre de la ville. Là il n'y a que des Thais, d'excellents repas, et bien souvent il y a un groupe qui joue en Live.
Ambiance garantie, et pas un seul touriste à l'horizon. Par contre il vaut mieux y aller avec des amis Thai, ne serait-ce que pour commander, ou pour l'indiquer au taxi !! 😉
Pour la boite il y a le "Yes Indeed", sur Kaset Nawamin Rd, et les restos sont tout autour. La chanteuse du bar est super, et l'ambiance est délirante. Un super endroit pour manger tout en dansant sur de la musique Live.
Mais c'est sûr, il faut sortir un peu du sentier touristique...
Oui je suis d'accord avec toi et j'ai eu l'occasion d'aller dans ces endroit. Je me fiche un peu qu'il y est des touristes ou pas. Je suis la pour faire la fete avec nimporte qui. Les seul que je n'aime pas ce sont les "touriste sexuel" comme on les apelles mais sinon je suis ok pour faire la fete avec tout le monde. J'avou etre tres classique mais bon, ca a son charme.
Je croyai bien connaitre Bangkok mais je vois que tu a aussi ton experience personnelle labas.
Qu'est ce que tu peux me dire de plus sur les lieu sympa pour sortir.
Je suis plus bar sympa en debut de soirer pour boire et discuter en meme temps et boite ensuite avec de la musique a fond et surout, beaucoup de monde. Et enfin, vers 2h quand tout ferme, re-petit bar sympa ou tu vien discuter avec les gens que tu a rencontrer dnas les autre place.
Il y a un endroit que j'ai vaiment adoré sur Bangkok, c'est une brasserie allemande. Autrement dit, c'est un très grand restaurant en bois avec beaucoup de charme, et ils fabriquent leur propre bière. Elle est très bonne.
Il y a une grande scène qui surplombe le restaurant, et pendant tout le repas (ou pendant qu'on boit quelques bières), il y a des shows sur la scène, avec de la danse mais aussi des chanteurs et chanteuses. Et rien à voir avec les shows vulgaires de beaucoup de boites, ici c'est très pros.
Quand minuit approche, tout le monde se met à danser et discuter, et l'ambiance monte très vite.
Bref, un endroit un peu atypique (ba oui une brasserie allemande à bangkok...) mais que je recommande chaudement, car les prix sont très corrects, l'ambiance est très simple, et on y passe vite la soirée...🙂

Effectivement ca a l'air pas mal, je vais aller y vair un tour des vendredi soir et je te dirai ce que j'en ai pensé. C'est vrai que beaucoup de show ne sont pas tres pro mais j'aime beaucoup les chanteur du Night Bazar de Lumpini avec leur Boys-Band Thai. C'est asser drole et on y passe un bon moment malgres que ce soit tres cher la-bas je trouve.

En effet, j'adore le night bazar pour ce show, qui est très "kitsch", et bien que les chanteurs soient assez "maladroits", on passe un bon moment.
Le night bazar est un peu cher, mais en cherchant bien, il y a une échoppe le long où la grande bouteille de Chang est à 50 Bahts, ce qui est correct il me semble. Enfin c'est à cette échope que j'allais tout le temps.
Sinon il suffit de ramener sa bouteille et de s'installer, ni vu ni connu !! Mais technique éprouvée !! 😛

Il y en a plusieurs disséminés dans la périphérie de Bangkok, j'en ai essayé 2.

Excellent pour passer un bon début de soirée avant d'aller "move your body" dans les boites branchées.
De ce côté là, je ne fréquente que les boites très fréquentés par les thais : RCA (slim de préférence), Hollywood, Dance Fever, Ice bar, Sang Selim (2 cents), Zantika, Escudo, Alex Club etc ...
Peut tu m'en dire plus sur tout les boite que tu a cité et en particulier le Ice Bar. Je connais bien sur RCA mais pas les autre. Peut tu me dire qu'elle sont les moyenne d'age aussi car je n'ai que 19 ans, que je ne me retrouve pas dans un truc ou il n'y a que des gens de 30 ans.
J'ai découvert le Ice Bar au mois d'avril et j'aimes beaucoup.
Par contre, il ne faut pas avoir peur des décibels car ils ont tendance à pousser le volume un peu trop fort.
Lieu : Pas très grand (capacité 200 personnes environ) avec des tables & tabourets de bar.
Musique : Hip Hop US, Pop thai et groupe de rock LIVE
Clientèle : 95% thai et moyenne d'age entre 18 et 25.

Non mais je suis serieux. J'était avec des amis et c'est un copain qui nous a enmener et qui a donné les direction au chauffeur de taxi. A cette heure de la soirer, je n'était plus trop en état de repérer le lieux et j'ai donc suivie le groupe. Donc, impossible de retrouver cette adresse. De plus, il fesait nuit donc encors plus dur de savoir ou je suis allé.
Le tunnel est fermé jusqu'à nouvel ordre.
Et oui, les boites ne durent pas très longtemps au pays du sourire. Qui a dit corruption et dessous de table ? 😉
On peut voir ici un connaisseur quand meme !! Je suis tres impressionné. Tu connai toute les boite et n'importe qu'elle adresse que je demande. Bravo, on voit la l'ame d'un fétard si je ne m'abuse.

Super, figure toi que j'allai justement faire apel a ta culture "club Bangkok" au sujet de se bar. Un ami qui est venu en fevrier y a passé toute ses fin de soiré et j'allai te demander ou c'etait et ce que tu pouvait m'en dire.
Selon lui, c'est le meilleur endroit pour passé les fin de soiré après etre aller en boite et effectivement il ma dit que tout le monde se retrouvait la-bas.
Mais il n'est pas tres objectif car il a plutot tendance a aimer tout ce qui se trouve a Bangkok donc j'aimerai ton avis si tu y est déja allé.
J'y suis allé qu'une seule fois cette année.
Il m' a dit : "on va aller au Spice vers 1h30" car après, c'est le débarquement.
Nous nous sommes garés dans une rue perpendiculaire à l'hotel Ambassador et l'entrée est assez insolite.
C'est par la bouche d'entrée/sortie du parking souterrain de l'hotel que nous sommes rentrés.
A l'intérieur de ce parking, nous avons pris un ascenseur pour aller au niveau du rez de chaussée, je crois.
A l'ouverture des portes, nous tombons sur l'accueil de la boite : 3 ou 4 personnes dont 2 hotesses charmantes. 😊 😛
On paye un droit d'entrée, un ptit tampon sur la main et nous y sommes.
C'est une grande salle de forme carrée avec le DJ au fond et des écrans plats un peu partout.
Des canapés, poufs, tables basses nous encadrent.
La musique y est plutot sympa (RnB, Hip Hop, Rap, etc ...) et la clientèle assez chic. (100% thai cette fois-ci).
La boite était remplie vers 3h !! 😉

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m over in East Borneo in mid-July.
I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

I’ll be in Malaysia with my wife, mainly in Langkawi and Penang for Christmas and New Year’s at the end of 2026.
If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. What do the experts here think? And which website can we use to book the tickets? Thanks in advance for your tips!

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

For our Bangkok-Sukhothai trips, I use a company I’ve already tried, but they don’t have a fleet available from Sukhothai and have to go through third-party companies—which, understandably, take their commission. This nearly doubles the prices...
There are four of us, and we’re not traveling light, so a minibus isn’t an option. ;-)

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
