Je suis dans la situation que beaucoup ont déjà vécu et que d'autres vont certainement vivre s'ils partent un jour en Inde: Le traitement Anti-paludisme.
Alors évidemment j'ai déjà parcouru en partie ce forum , demandé conseil à mon médecin et à des amis qui sont déjà partis etc...j'ai écouté tout le monde attentivement... mais le bilan c'est que du coup je me sens encore plus paumé 🙂... c'est malin !
Donc pour situer le truc, je pars tout seul dans 15 jours pour une durée de 3 mois. J'atterris à Bombay (ou Mumbay pour faire le local) et ensuite je me laisse guider par la brise (ou par les trains ça sera plus rapide je pense).
Donc en gros y a 2 options (arrêtez moi quand je dis une bêtise, parce que pour tout dire je suis pas hyper calé):
- Ne pas le prendre (le traitement) et faire confiance à dame nature en prenant des précautions sur place à l'encontre de nos am.. heu ennemis les moustiques (les sprays, les moustiquaires, les vêtements longs, les mitraillettes automatiques à turbo laser 😎, etc..)
- Prendre un traitement
Alors de mon coté, on m'a prescrit du MALARONE... ça coute 40 euros la boite de 12.
Donc pour 90 jours + une semaine (au retour) on arrondis à 100 cachets...
Il me faut 9 boites.. (9 fois 40) ...soit 360 euros... gloup (ah bah la je m'en souviens de mes cours de math du CM2 tout d'un coup).
Sachant qu'il y a ptetre des effets secondaires et que ça n'assure pas à 100% la protection contre le paludisme.
Donc voici mes questions:
- Quelqu'un ici a t il deja chopé le paludisme? Avait il prit un traitement au préalable?
- Pour un sejour de 3 mois, y a t il d'autres options que de payer 360 euros de cachets?
- Dans l'absolu, quelqu'un qui part vivre en Inde pour toujours, doit il prendre ces cachets toute sa vie?(genre le mec a interet d etre deja millionaire) sinon à partir de quand est il immunisé?
- Que feriez vous à ma place?

ps: Dans ma préparation de ce voyage, j'en suis à la phase ou j'ai l'impression qu'il n'y a que des contraintes à partir si loin.. entre tous les problemes que j'entends sur les forum (les arnaques, les maladies, les problemes de visas, l'hygiene etc...), je suis à 2 doigts de partir à Carefour m'acheter un écran plat et regarder le dvd collector de la roue de la fortune en mangeant une pizza surgelé car dans la pub la madame qui est mince et jolie a dit que la pizza est bien bonne. (et ses enfants blonds aussi).

Sache qu'il existe un comprimé qui n'est pas très cher (environ 3 euros la boite) remboursé par la SS, c'est un très fort antibiotique (je ne sais plus le nom, j'ai encore une boite à la maison, je regarderai) et qui a la même efficacité que le malarone, car le malarone est le plus cher des traitements anti-palu !
La première fois que je suis parti en Inde, j'ai pris le traitement assidument, la deuxième fois, je l'oubliais très souvent (donc ca ne servait à rien de le prendre), la troisième fois, j'ai emporté le traitement et je ne l'ai pas pris du tout ; je retourne en inde du sud en février 2010 sans traitement bien sur. Le palud existe en inde, mais pas dans les villes.

En fait tu as mis le doigt sur ce qui me pose vraiment soucis: les eventuels effets secondaires de la Malarone.
Si j'avais la certitude de l'efficacité de ce traitement et qu'il n'y ait pas d'effets secondaires indésirables... vraiment je sais que la santé n'a pas de prix et je mettrai 300 euros sans aucun probleme ( bon du coup j'éviterai juste d'aller au ciné et au resto pendant 1 an hihi).
Mais si c'est pour payer 300 euros et se retrouver avec un traitement qui cause plus de tords qu'il n'en réparent.... la j'hésite... si c'était pour 15 jours encore... mais 3 mois....sachant que je ne prends des médicaments que trés rarement..j'hésite encore plus... et si on ajoute que je suis assez influencable et qu'autour de moi j'ai plusieurs différents... bah la je danse le mia dans ma salle de bain et je vais tirer à pile ou face...
3 mois de traitement, je trouve ça long... Il me semblait qu'on ne prescrivait les anti-palu que pour des périodes courtes.
En plus, il n'y a pas que le palu, et traitement ou pas tu devras tout de même te protéger des moustiques pour ne pas attraper les autres maladies qu'ils véhiculent.
Lorsque j'ai passé 1, 5 mois en Inde, je n'avais rien pris, sur les conseils d'un médecin du voyage (mais c'était en saison sèche, et je savais que je ne ferai pas de séjour prolongé dans les zones rurales et resterais la plupart du temps en ville ou a proximité). De façon générale, je ne prends plus de traitement préventif et à moins de me rendre dans certaines régions africaines très impaludées (et où subsiste le neuro-palu) je ne prendrai plus rien.
Tu peux peut être trouver un moyen terme : emporter avec toi une petite quantité de Malarone, en te faisant bien expliquer les conditions de prise en mode curatif par ton médecin (au cas où tu déclenches une crise de palu), mais ne pas la prendre en préventif.
Mais bon, c'est à toi de voir !
En tout cas bon voyage, ne te prends pas trop la tête avec tout ce que tu peux lire d'inquiétant sur l'Inde : ce pays est magique !
Merci pour le conseil Alain, effectivement si le doxycycline a les memes effets préventifs que le Malarone... et à moindre cout...pourquoi s'en priver? Du coup ce qui m'interpelle c'est le fait que ça ne soit pas plus répandu que ça quand on se renseigne sur un traitement anti paludisme...

J'aviserai par la suite.. mais par rapport à ma situation, je n'ai encore entendu personne être part aussi longtemps (3 mois) et avoir pris un traitement anti paludisme à la malarone... à 45 euros les 12 cachets.. par contre des exemples de personnes qui n'ont pas supportées le traitement j'en ai entendu....
En effet Cyrille.... tu as raison et c'est comme beaucoup de médoc qu'il ne faut pas se mettre en plein soleil, et c'est comme de partout il faut utiliser une crême solaire quand il y a du soleil.
Et comme pleins de médocs aussi, il peut y avoir des effets secondaires. Avec Doxy 100, je peux te dire que je n'ai eu aucun effet secondaire du tout.
Et si je dois reprendre un anti-palud, je le reprendrais sans aucune contrainte.
Je repars en Inde en février et je le repète : je ne prendrais aucun traitement !

Par ailleurs, la doxycyline est un médicament qui est sur la liste des médicaments à se munir pour les voyages en Inde (comme la malarone bien sur) par le Centre des Maladies Tropicales de Marseille et lorsque je l'ai demandé à mon mèdecin il me l'a prescrit sans aucun problème après avoir consulté internet (lui aussi).
Mais tu sais, pour un séjour aussi long, je te conseillerais de ne rien prendre ! à toi de voir bien sur.

Prendre journellement de la vitamine B, il semble que les moustiques déteste l'odeur que la peau dégage .....
Je peux te dire que quand j'en ai pris (ne pas dépaser la dose max) je n'ai pas été opportunée par le moindre moustique.................
Cette info vaut ce qu'elle vaut mais.............................

Personnellement nous n'avons rien pris. Nous sommes partis 2 mois en Inde du sud. En plus du palu, il y a aussi l'encéphalite japonaise, le chicungunia, la dengue et d'autres maladies pas très sympa. La malarone ne fera rien pour ces maladies autre que le palu. Nous avons lutté contre les moustiques. Pour la nuit nous avons utilisé les prises électriques (parfois même deux) comme on en trouve en France. C'est très efficace. Pour la journée, les manches longues et pantalons et à partir de 16h badigeonnage d'Odomos. La crème miracle vendue 60 RS et très très efficace elle aussi. Il en existe même à base "naturelle". Il faut être vigilant et s'appliquer tous les jours à se protéger contre les moustiques. Ne jamais oublier car eux (les moustiques) ne nous oublient pas.
Je sais que la décision est difficile à prendre nous avons eu le même problème avant de partir...

Il y a d'autres choses qui nous ont fait fuir par moments : les chiens. Ils sont agressifs et là pas de vaccins......
Même un chemin de mille lieues commence par un pas....
Normalement la doxycyline est réservé pour les régions en zone 3, c'est pour cela que les médecins ne la prescrivent pas pour l'inde du nord (zone 2).
il y un risque a long terme que les insectes résistent a la doxycycline ( il parait)
Finalement aprés réflexion j'ai fais quasiment tous les vaccins conseillés pour l'Inde (hépatite a et typhoide), les autres j'étais à jour .
Je n'ai pas fais celui contre la rage... je vais simplement tacher d'etre poli avec les chiens errants ou autres animaux.
Concernant le traitement anti paludisme, je n'ai trouvé aucun exemple d'une personne l'ayant pris pour une longue durée, du coup ça a conforté mon choix de ne pas le prendre (car pas sur à 100%, effets secondaires indesirables et prix exorbitant) mais de faire hyper attention aux moustiques, je vais prendre le plus de précautions possible sans etre non plus paranoia.
Voila je pars dans 3 jours et je suis dans un trés bon état d'esprit

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.

It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
