Hi there, We’re heading to Gujarat at the end of January for a month, traveling by local transport, and I’m currently trying to figure out how to get from PATAN to BHUJ by train or bus. On the IRTC website, I only found overnight trains, which doesn’t work for us. Do you know if there are any daytime buses leaving from Patan or Palanpur? We’re also wondering if there’s a ferry service between Mandvi and Okha. Thanks for your help! Alod

Hi there,

It's a long journey of at least 8 hours, and just like with trains, there are only private overnight buses between Patan/Palanpur and Bhuj. You might want to look into public buses, but the trip will definitely be much longer and less comfortable—if such a connection even exists...

Otherwise, searching online, I found that there’s indeed a ferry between Mandvi and Okha operated by Kutch Sagar Setu for 500 rupees.

Hi there, Thanks for the info. About the ferry trip, I did find this option online: https://www.gujaratitours.com/index.php I sent them a message for more details, but got this error back: 525: 5.7.13 Disabled recipient address Is this the site you were referring to? Alod

Yes, on this site and others. In any case, this route exists, and you’ll need to buy the tickets on the spot.

1. How to get from PATAN to BHUJ by train or bus? Do you know if there are daytime buses from Patan or Palanpur?

A. By train, it's quite complicated. That said, from Ahmedabad, there's train number 22903 (6:35 AM–12:45 PM), but you need to pay close attention to travel dates, as the train leaves Mumbai at 11:45 PM the night before. B. State buses from Patan and Palanpur to Bhuj do exist and leave in the morning.

* Palanpur - Bhuj leaves at 5:30 AM and arrives at 2:25 PM, passing through Disa, Radhanpur, Bhachau, and Gandhidham. It costs 280 rupees. * Patan - Bhuj: the Unjha-Nakhatrana bus leaves Unjha at 7:00 AM, arrives in Patan at 7:40 AM, and drops you in Bhuj at 4:20 PM before continuing to Nakhatrana. It costs 270 rupees.

2. Is there a ferry service between Mandvi and Okha?

In my opinion, no.

Good evening, Thanks for the info. The bus journeys between Patan and Bhuj are indeed long, so we’ll decide and maybe figure it out when we’re there. Alod

Hi there, I’m reaching out again because I’m now looking for a way to get from Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad.

I saw on IRTC that there are trains, but we’re planning to travel on a Friday, and apparently there’s only one that unfortunately arrives at 11:30 PM at Ahmedabad Junction. I’ve read that there are lots of buses, but I can’t find anything on the GSRTC website—it’s complicated because you have to enter the departure and arrival points, and I don’t know any sites for private companies.

Any leads? Thanks in advance! Alod

The Redbus.in website is probably the best site for private buses in India. I use it on every trip, and it's very reliable for finding the different companies and schedules connecting two cities. For Bhavnagar-Ahmedabad, there are 19 private buses running on Fridays. I'll let you check it out... Just to clarify, you can use the site to check schedules, but it's also perfectly possible to buy your tickets the day before at the private agencies lining the bus stations.
