Je ne sais pas pour vous mais je peine à trouver la moindre chambre à louer. D'accord je suis encore en France mais est-ce possible de pouvoir obtenir une chambre avant mon arrivée ou c'est mission impossible ?
Je suis sur liste d'attente pour les résidences universitaires alors que j'ai envoyé ma demande dès le premier jour. Je ne peux pas envoyer de courriels sur kijiji puisque mon adresse IP n'est pas "made in Canada" rien n'arrive chez le destinataire et je ne reçois rien.
J'ai envoyé plusieurs courriels à des particuliers, ils me répondent au début puis me font patienter et me répondent une semaine plus tard en me disant que la chambre vient d'être louée désolé et blabla... c'est une coutume au Québec de faire patienter pour ensuite décliner la demande ? C'est plus respectueux de dire "non" tout de suite !
Loin l'idée d'insulter les québécois mais c'est vraiment le parcours du combattant et pourtant je suis seul et sans animaux. On nous propose une multitude de site pour la recherche de logement à Montréal mais moi je cherche le plus sûr, où l'on trouve le moins d'arnaque, donc avec des prix raisonnables. On dépend du bon vouloir des propriétaires.
A mon arrivée je ne peux pas perdre trop de temps à chercher dans tous les coins de rue des pancartes avec écrit "à louer", j"ai besoin de trouver directement un logement où me poser pour l'année (jusqu'au 30 juin si j'ai bien compris comment fonctionne le bail) et me concentrer pour mes études. Mais je sens bien que je vais devoir chercher quoiqu'il arrive.
Depuis le mois d'avril je cherche un logement et je ne trouve rien ou alors c'est déjà pris mais le site ne met pas à jour les annonces.

quand tu vas sur lespac ou d autre annonce payante...quand la personne pait 30$ pour son annonce c est parce que sa voiture es vraiment a vendre!!..et non essayer de trouver un poisson...
oublie jamais une chose...peut importe le pays..les sites GRATUIT ammene leur lot de perte de temps, de faussaires, d escroc, de niaisage etc...

En effet, les sites d'annonces gratuit ne sont pas toujours sérieuses . Pour les logement mieux vaut les annonces du journal local.
Je te suggère de commencer par trouver une location temporaire (ex: auberges de jeunesse, B&B ou autre). Une fois sur place, tu pourras partir à la recherche d'un logement annuel. Je suis d'avis qu'il est important que tu puisses voir les QUARTIERs avant de louer . Le quartier est quand même différent d'un endroit à l'autre et tu dois t'y sentir bien. C'est pourquoi c'est mieux d'être sur place . De plus, tu pourras regarder sur le babillard de l'université les annonces de colocation entre étudiants .Crois moi, sur place tu trouveras rapidement , surtout avec les colocations car y'a tjs des étudiants qui recherchent un coloc.

Montréal n'est pas Paris, trouver un logement ou une colocation n'est pas difficile. Il n'y a pas de pénurie (ce qui n'était pas le cas au début des années 2000). Cela ne te prendra donc pas plus de 2 semaines. Alors prévois un budget pour dormir 2 semaines dans une auberge de jeunesse pour faire une recherche intensive, idéalement avant le début des cours. Mais tu dois vraiment être sur place pour ta recherche...bonne chance!

à Nikky : c'est quand même un budget important pour deux semaines dans un logement temporaire, j'ai l'impression de jeter mon argent par les fenêtres alors qu'il aurait été plus simple que je trouve direct avant de venir. Surtout que je n'ai jamais fait de porte à porte comme ça pour demander s'il y a une chambre à louer. Je vois une annonce avec un numéro de téléphone ou un cell, il faut que je trouve donc une cabine pour téléphoner et savoir si c'est dispo pour la visite dès maintenant. Donc c'est au bon vouloir du proprio ou du coloc sauf que là je serai sur place et à la rue pratiquement.

Non. Absolument pas. Pas au Canada. Tant qu'il n'y a rien de signé sur papier, le proprio est libre de louer à qui il veut, même le jour où tu te rends sur place pour signer le bail. 😉 Et de ton côté, aucune obligation juridique tant que tu n'as rien signé! Attention: le droit français n'a strictement rien à voir avec celui au Canada...
Pourquoi ils font silence radio dès que ça leur convient pas ?
C'est un comportement typiquement nord-américain (je suis Canadienne alors je sais de quoi je parle). Quand ça ne convient pas, il n'y a généralement pas de réponse qui se donne et ce, dans tous les domaines. Un silence équivaut généralement à un refus ou à signifier qu'on n'est plus intéressé. C'est un peu une forme d'hypocrisie qui vise à ne pas déplaire l'autre. Pour les étrangers, ça peut surprendre oui...
Tu vas vite apprendre les codes une fois au pays 😉
Pour les appels, une fois sur place tu peux investir dans un cellulaire avec temps d'antenne pré-payé qui te permettra de faire des appels, c'est toujours utile.

Pour moi c'est pire qu'une forme d'hypocrisie, c'est un manque d'éducation et c'est irrespectueux pour la personne, mais on trouve aussi ce genre là en France, en fait partout dans le monde. Je sais que les familles de droit sont différentes en France (droit romano-germanique avec une certaine "exception française") et au Canada (forme hybride basée sur le droit romano-germanique et le Common law). Mais je pensais que le Québec suivait plus ou moins la jurisprudence française en matière de droit des contrats et qu'il n'était pas totalement absorbé par le Common law. Bref, j'aimerais qu'on me dise "non" même froidement au lieu de me faire attendre et espérer pour rien.
Normalement le silence vaut acceptation mais cette règle générale souffre de nombreuses exceptions et c'est toujours au cas par cas.
Un silence dans tous les domaines ça peut faire des dégâts...
Je ne vais pas prendre de cell tout de suite vu les prix exorbitants pour les forfaits canadiens. J'attendrai d'avoir un travail d'abord (donc attendre longtemps...).
Mais je ne perds pas espoir et je souhaite vivre un jour au Canada.
Pour les forfaits ce n'est pas accessible aux nouveaux arrivants puisqu'il faut avoir un historique de crédit canadien...C'est pourquoi j'ai suggèré le pré-payé.
