Je me pose de nombreuses questions à propos du visas J-1, en fait je souhaiterais partir cet été aux EU pour faire des petits boulots saisonniers, et j'ai beau essayer de comprendre comment obtenir ce visas (sur ce forum ou sur le net en général) mais je m'embrouille complètement!
déjà il me semble que pour avoir un visas, on doit d'abord obtenir un formulaire, mais y a-t-il un autre moyen de l'obtenir que par l'intermédiaire d'un employeur ou d'un organisme? (je parle du formulaire pour le visas J-1) mon passeport n'est plus valide depuis juin 2003, je suis obligée d'en faire faire un nouveau, en plus de la carte d'identité et du visas? (ou du moins, pour obtenir le visas) est-il obligatoire d'apporter les billets d'avion (ou recus)? Je n'ai encore aucune idée de quand exactement je partirais, donc ca me parait vraiment compliqué! Je connais quelques personnes aux USA, me demandera-t-on leur coordonnées?
Je commence à flipper un peu du temps que ca mettra, et des sous que ca me coutera!
Aussi, si vous pensez qu'un visa de simple touriste est plus facile et/ou moins cher à obtenir qu'un visa J-1, dites-le moi, car dans ce cas je peux laisser tomber les vrais jobs et ne choisir que des petits boulots bénévoles.

une petite indication, tu n'as pas le droit de travailler avec un visa J1 ou alors c'est tres reglemente, du style un job sur un campus si ton visa est sponsorise par une universite... ils n'aiment pas trop que les etrangers viennent pour des petits boulots.Pour le visa J-1, le mieux dans ton cas, c'est un organisme mais cela reste cher ( ex: interexchange)Ton nouveau passeport electronique est obligeatoire avant toute demarche aupres de l'ambassade americaine. Ton billet d'avion n'est pas obligeatoire dans le cadre d'un visa J-1 car les dates de validite seront indiquees sur ton DS-2019, sponsorise par un organisme. Moins tu connais de personnes aux USA, mieux c'est car ils ne veulent pas que tu sois tente de rester. Donne seulement ton adresse de logement, rien d'autre... Mon conseil serait de partir en visa touriste: - de 3 mois et de travailler au noir si tu connais du monde pour ce genre de magouille ou alors de payer un organisme qui te trouve un job en entreprise pour quelques mois...

Il est indiqué sur les formulaires concernant le visa J1 qu'il concerne les etudiants... et leurs droit a travailler sur le campus.
Mais aussi, qu'il concerne les jobs d'été et les jeunes filles au pair...ce n'est pas précisé du tout pour les etudiants déjà sur place. Sais tu quelque chose la dessus?🙂

Dans le cas des "au pair ou jobs d'été" sponsorisé à chaque fois, d'apres ce que je sais, par une organisation reconnue par le gouvernement americain. Cette organisation que tu payes un prix non negligeable te permet d'etre enregistré aupres des autoritées americaines pour ensuite obtenir des papiers pour la demande de VISA. Ils n'autorisent que le travail dans le cadre precis décrit dans les nombreuses démarches a faire pour obtenir ce VISA. Si tu travailles dans un autre cadre, c'est considéré comme du travail au noir.... 🏴☠️
En fait il est assez long et couteux d'obtenir un visa J1. Il faut d'abord trouver un employeur aux états-unis, puis faire appel à une société spécialisée (comme parenthèse-paris) pour t'aider à obtenir un formulaire necessaire à la demande de visa. Le cout est élevé du fait du paiment d'une assurance obligatoire (1500 euros pour 1 an, proportionnel au nombre de mois, voire sur le site de parenthèse-paris).
Il faut compter plusieurs semaines pour avoir le formulaire (en ce moment 4 semaines mais en général c'est plus). Il faut également payer les 85 euros pour la demande de visa auprès du consulat.
A noter : les délais pour avoir un RDV au consulatdes USA à paris pour un visa sont de plus en plus longs. Si tu appelles maintenant, tu as un RDV en Mai par exemple. 😠
Donc que ce soit pour un visa tourisme ou J1, ce sera long! A moins que tu ais un passeport optique fabriqué avant le 26 octobre05.
finallement, je vais laisser tomber le Visa J-1 et donc maintenant j'hésite entre:
un passeport biométrique (ou semi-biométrique, car il me semble qu'ils ne le sont pas encore completement en France) un visa tourisme
donc d'après-vous lequel est le moins coûteux? Aussi il me semble que le passeport est bien moins long à obtenir, je me trompe?
Les visas biométriques ne sont pas prêts d'etre fabriqués en France. Il y a beaucoup de problèmes et d'après ce que je sais les premiers vont peut-être être créés en Mai (pour Paris d'abord). Et avec le visa c'est le seul moyen d'aller aux états-unis.
D'une manière ou d'une autre tu ne pourras pas partir avant mai, même si tu t'y prenais immédiatement.
Mon avis est qu'à moins d'avoir déjà trouvé un emploi là-bas, ce n'est pas le moment rêvé pour entreprendre un projet USA, ça ira mieux dans quelques mois...
Si tu es très motivé(e), cherche un job sur internet si tu souhaites vraiment aller aux états-unis. Essaies de contacter une agence telle que parenthèse-paris pour voir quelles sont les possibilités.
Si tu demande un visa B1/B2 (tourisme), tu l'obtiendras en mai en t'y prenant tout de suite, et tu ne pourras pas du tout travailler aux états-unis. Il est très déconseillé de travailler au noir.
N'hésites pas à me recontacter si besoin. j'en suis moi-même à la dernière étape pour le visa J1. Mon rendez-vous au consulat est dans une semaine et j'ai déjà obtenu un visa B1/B2

en fait je ne compte pas travailler au noir, au début je pensais aller là bas 3-4 mois et avoir des vrais jobs, mais en fait je ne pourrais partir qu'en juillet, donc finallement je passerais surtout l'été à visiter le pays (et rouver des petits trucs bénévol-logée-nourrie) et bref je laisse tomber les jobs.
Si ce que tu dis est vrai (que les passeport fabriquée aujourd'hui ne permettent pas d'aller au USA et que le visas est indispensable), alors je laisse tomber le passeport?
Je pense que c'est une très bonne idée. Pour n'importe quel visa il faut compter :
14, 5 euros pour appeler pour prendre le RDV au consulat (voir les dates sur www.amb-usa.fr). SI tu te trompes et que tu rappelles, tu paies à nouveau.😕 Environ 18 euros pour une enveloppe chronopost 85 euros de demande de visa (non remboursé si tu n'obtiens pas le visa) 5 euros 😛 de photos d'identité format américain
Si tu habites sur paris tu économise l'hotel et le déplacement car les rendez-vous sont à 8h.
J'ai obtenu ce visa très facilement même en ayant peu d'attaches en France, mais ça dépend peut-etre de l'agent sur lequel tu tombes.
Renseigne toi bien si tu fais la demande car il ne faut rien oublier. Je suis encore en France 1 semaine si tu as besoin d'infos, mais sache que les forums de discussion tels que celui-ci sont très efficaces. Le site de l'ambassade est également explicite.
Oui, pour les tarifs c'est exactement ça.
Dans mon cas, j'ai demandé un visa J-1 stagiaire en passant par l'organisme Parenthèse-Paris.
Mon dossier est parti le 25 janvier et j'ai demandé un RDV avec l'ambassade pour le 23 mars(soit 8 mois le délai maximum pour obtenir le DS-2019).
En gros, prévoir 6 à 8 semaines.
Pour 6 mois ça m'aura coûté environ 935€ en comptant l'appel vers l'ambassade.

Tu vas voir avec Parenthèse c'est rapide surtout en ce moment car c'est une période creuse. Moi je viens de recevoir mon DS2019.
Une amie va peut-être faire son stage dans Washington même.
Moi je pars sur la base de 6 mois, mais si tout se passe bien l'entreprise est d'accord pour que je reste 18 mois, je ferai un extension.
