Quick visit to Johannesburg

Hello, Thanks to the forum, our itinerary is almost finalized for this summer. I’m just wondering about the very end. We’re returning the car at the airport on August 12th at 1 PM, and our flight leaves the next day at 5 PM. Do we have enough time to visit Johannesburg in such a short window? Is it worth it? And if so, what should we prioritize, and where should we stay?

I’ve spotted the city tour on the red bus (not sure how long it takes) or a guided visit to Soweto or Maboneng.

Or is it too short, and should we just relax in a comfortable hotel before heading back?

I’d love to hear your advice! Thanks so much in advance! 😊

Soweto, in the tourist-friendly areas, isn’t dangerous during the day. There are even bike tours that’ll give your legs a workout before your flight. Johannesburg isn’t the most beautiful city in the world, but it has a great energy you’ll feel if you let yourself be guided. If the topic interests you, there’s also the Apartheid Museum.

Hi Of course I agree with Voyajou I love Pretoria It’s not that far The presidential palace for the symbolism and the view The Voortrekker Monument, knowing what it is…

Thanks for your tips! In that case, I’ll look for accommodation in Soweto for the last night and book a bike tour to stretch my legs! Any recommendations for places to stay in that area? Thanks again!
