Visiting the Backwaters from Marari Beach

Hi there, I’m spending about ten days in Kerala, and of course, I’d love to see the backwaters (I’m open to all possible tips—I don’t want to sleep on a houseboat). My question is:

Is it doable to spend a good half-day in the backwaters while staying at Marari Beach?

Thanks!

Hi there, For me, there’s nothing special about Marari Beach itself, and there are agents in Alleppey who offer services just to spend a few hours on a boat.

Thanks so much!

What do you mean by "nothing special in Marari"? There’s a beach, right? Or am I mixing up the place?

I’ve heard a lot about this beach. I didn’t find anything special there unless you’re into sunbathing.

When are you planning to go? In December, the city of Cochin is pretty lively, or so I’ve heard. I’m thinking of checking it out. If you’re interested, let me know.

Thanks! I’ll be there in February around the 20th, I think, and yes, I’m definitely planning a little beach getaway—that’s why I’m so interested in the beaches.

A great spot for exploring the backwaters by shikara boat from Alleppey --> Manu, whose WhatsApp number is +91 8907799727. He’s a friend of mine, speaks good English, lives in the backwaters (he knows them like the back of his hand), and runs his own shikara boat. You can tell him you got his details from Alain at Southcanal Holidays (near the Alleppey lighthouse), where I stay every winter. 🙂

Thanks so much, that’s exactly what I’m looking for.

A little peaceful stroll.
