L'État d'Urgence a été déclaré, pour le moment, UNIQUEMENT EN CE QUI CONCERNE LA RÉGION MÉTROPOLITAINE, càd Santiago et les environs immédiats.

Mais. des manifestations ont actuellement lieu dans d'autres villes du Chili et la situation pourrait empirer encore.

La situation s'est fort dégradée ces dernières heures.

Bonjour, Il n'est jamais trop tard pour rendre compte de son voyage. Le confinement me laisse enfin du temps pour le faire. Je suis parti le 17 août 2017 et je suis rentré le 7 février 2018. Entre temps, je suis allé en Argentine par cargo puis une fois sur ce continent, j'ai visité l'Uruguay, l'Argentine et le Chili. Durant tout ce voyage, j'ai tenu un carnet journalier. je commence à préparer un voyage à 2 , pour traverser le fjord chilli argentine pour rejoindre Ushuaïa et rejoindre le cap Horn monument .le temps du voyage sur 3 semaines, est-ce suffisant?

j'ai vue des compagnies ferry (Navimag) . pour les vols depuis paris après je sais pas où on arrive ? La perfide la moins froide aussi qu'il vaut mieux pour y aller. enfin un peu dans le vague pour l'instant.

Nous venons de revenir du chili un peu fatigués par le rythme mais c'était un voyage exceptionnel!!! Arrivée à Santiago puis départ pour Puerto Natales pour aller aux glaciers (bateau) et au Parc Torres del Paine. A Puerto Natales, le temps ne nous permettait pas de faire la balade en bateau aux glaciers prévue le premier jour mais notre guide nous a emmené à la grotte du Milaudon ce qui nous a permis de faire le lendemain très tôt le parc national et de revenir pour prendre le bateau à15h30 . Donc, on a tout fait avec le beau temps et c'était magnifique! Retour à Santiago puis Valparaiso. Enfin San Pedro de Atacama et ses merveilles.Terminer par 3 jours à l'île de Pâques est parfait car cela permet de se reposer tout en visitant les sites magnifiques et même de se baigner dans une eau chaude😎

I’m about to fulfill a dream that includes a trip to Patagonia between October and December 2026. I’ll be traveling solo.

My plan: - Take a boat from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales (4-5 days) - Torres del Paine National Park (2-3 days) - Bus from Puerto Natales to Ushuaïa (1-2 days) - Exploring around Ushuaïa (3-4 days) - Cruise from Ushuaïa to Punta Arenas (Oct 31 - Nov 4) - Rent a vehicle and head back up to Puerto Montt by around December 10, which is about 35 days total, via Los Glaciares, El Chaltén, Patagonia NP, Caleta Tortel, Villa O’Higgins, Puerto Río Tranquilo, Bahía Exploradores, Cerro Castillo NP, Coyhaique, Queulat NP, Chaitén, Pumalín NP, and Hornopirén NP.

My goal is to enjoy nature and do some hiking.

I’ll be in Torres del Paine around October 20—is the weather manageable for day hikes at that time?

30-35 days from Punta Arenas to Puerto Montt? That’s about 3,600 km. Is this timeframe doable to enjoy the scenery without rushing? If I arrive in the north earlier, it’s no big deal—I’ll just explore more spots above Puerto Montt.

Now, about the vehicle... I’m torn between a car + tent (regular car with a tent on top) and a small van. Is this enough for the Carretera Austral or unpaved roads? Or would a 4x4 be better? I’m not an experienced 4x4 driver—I’ve only driven occasionally to give the main driver a break on easy sections. A van is tempting for the comfort. Are there any rental options for slightly modified cars or ones where you can sleep, like a Kangoo?

For our trip in September 2025 from mid-September to early October (3 weeks), we’ve planned 8 days in San Pedro, then a transit night in Santiago, 8 days in Chilean Patagonia, and 3 days for Santiago/Valparaíso before heading back. Is it possible to easily explore with a rental car from a lodge based in Puerto Natales, including visiting Torres del Paine National Park? Or does that mean too much driving in a day, or would it be better to plan an overnight stay in the park or nearby?

We applied for our international driver’s permit in January 2025 for September, hoping to get it in time—I checked the forum about this. Regarding the car rental, do we really need a credit card (not debit) in the main driver’s name for the deposit?

How far in advance should we book entry tickets to the national parks for this period?

Hi everyone, We’re heading to Chile and Argentina for 4 weeks (Atacama Desert, Easter Island, and Chilean and Argentine Patagonia). For Patagonia, our itinerary (rental car) is as follows: 1 night in Puerto Natales 2 nights in Torres del Paine.

Then we’ll drive back up to El Chaltén, where we’ll spend 3 nights (fingers crossed the weather lets us do the two hikes we’ve planned). After that, we’re off to El Calafate for 2 nights (Perito Moreno Glacier). Our last day and night in Argentina will be spent at an estancia (Nibepo Aike). This is where I’m wondering: We have to drive in one day from the estancia (1.5 hours of dirt road from El Calafate) all the way to Punta Arenas. On paper, it seems doable. Hi, I’m really surprised by the wide range of prices charged by car rental companies in Chile, so I’d like to know which type of vehicle is best suited for the roads in the Lake District: Puerto Montt and Ensenada, between Ensenada and Pucón, and between Pucón and Currarrehue, for example. Réserve Nationale Río Clarillo. Parc National Siete Tazas. Parc National Conguillío.

Restez donc attentifs à l'évolution de la situation.

Puis je pique au sud, direction Ushuaïa. C'est là que j'ai une interrogation comment remonter au Nord du Chili pour aller au sud de la Bolivie? Deux itinéraires possibles qui parfois se croisent la Ruta 40 en Argentine ou la Carretera Austral au chili? Peut-être certains ont fait les deux et leur avis serait sûrement intéressant. Bonjour J'envisage de descendre la route australe depuis Puerto Montt jusqu'à Tortel, et retour. Je viendrai de Santiago et louerai une voiture à Puerto Montt.

J'ai une hésitation sur le nombre de jours à consacrer à cette ballade, je me demande notamment si la partie nord, de Puerto Montt à Puerto Aisen vaut vraiment le coup ou si je ne ferais pas mieux d'atterrir à Balmaceda et de partir d elà vers le sud.

Nous souhaitons faire le parc Lauca et le Salar de Surire, vaut-il mieux le faire avec une excursion ? But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general. Today, we started looking into traveling in April 2026, either to Chile or Argentina. It’s our first trip to South America. I’ve only been to French Guiana once, about ten years ago, for the space center. In recent years, we’ve usually gone to Asia during the spring holidays.

Based on the flight tickets I’ve found, two arrival and departure options are available: - Arriving in Buenos Aires and departing from Salvador de Bahia. - Arriving in Santiago, Chile, and still departing from Salvador de Bahia.

We’re considering flying business class on the outbound flight so we arrive a bit more rested. The travel class might influence our choice between itinerary A or B.

We’d like to spend two days at Iguazu Falls (both the Argentine and Brazilian sides), which explains the departure from Brazil.

Initially, we thought about arriving in Buenos Aires and staying in Argentina before heading to Iguazu. However, the itinerary forces us to go back through Buenos Aires.

We love nature. The El Calafate region seems to offer beautiful, easily accessible landscapes. Maybe there’s another area we should prioritize.

Here are two itineraries—what do you think? I know it’s short, but we can’t add any more days. We’ll have to make it work.

The National Tourism Service SERNATUR published a small graphic summary of the current situation in the tourism sector for each region of the country on August 14th.

It shows the percentage of operational tourist attractions, accommodations, airports, and bus stations across Chile’s sixteen regions.

As you can see, in several regions, no tourist attractions are currently available. In two regions, only half are open.

(A quick but important note: the small village of San Pedro de Atacama is in the Antofagasta administrative region, not the Atacama region.)

The situation for accommodations, regional airports, and bus stations is relatively better.

Some good news, though—Torres del Paine National Park is expected to gradually reopen starting September 1st.

J'envisage un voyage entre Chili et Bolivie d'une dizaine de jours, en août prochain. (nous serons 2) L'idée serait d'atterrir à Santiago, de rejoindre Calama en avion puis San Pedro de Atacama. De là, j'envisage ceci : -quelques excursions à la journée ou demi-journée pour découvrir l'Atacama (vallée de la Lune, lagunes, geysers...) - 3 à 4 jours -un tour vers Uyuni et le salar bolivien avec retour sur San Pedro - 3 à 4 jours Fin de voyage par Calama et Santiago.

Ma question est la suivante : je ne comprends pas la différence de prix que je peux observer entre les agences : si je regarde Tripadvisor et ses propositions, je trouve des excursions autour de San Pedro entre 25 et 80€ et un tour vers Uyuni autour de 180 à 250€ environ. Par contre, si je contacte certaines agences (dont les guides sont francophones et qui sont déjà mentionnées dans diverses discussions de ce forum), j'atteins des prix radicalement plus élevés, se chiffrant en milliers de dollars. Bien sûr, avoir un guide pour soi et non se retrouver avec 4-5 autres "inconnusé" à un prix, qu'il soit francophone aussi, mais malgré tout je m'interroge : en dehors de ces critères et du logement plus ou moins de qualité, le parcours proposé semble souvent tourné autour des mêmes spots... Pouvez-vous m'en dire plus ? Certains ont-ils déjà réalisé une réservation en ligne avec des agences proposant les prix plus "raisonnables" que l'on peut trouver via des sites de type Tripadvisor ??? Bonjour à tous, Je ne vais pas être le seul à poser cette question, mais nous devons partir 1 petit mois dans la région des lacs et bien entendu, mon inquiétude est grande compte tenu des évènements actuels. Nous partons le 3 Novembre. Arrivée à Santiago le soir vers 22 heures . Nuit à l'hôtel Ibis et départ en bus le lendemain matin pour Témuco ou nous resterons dans cette région pendant 2 semaines, puis 1 semaine de plus dans la région de La Séréna. Est il prudent de se rendre dans ce pays ? Nous ne faisons que transiter par Santiago. Pour nôtre 6 ème trip en Amérique du Sud, c'est pas de chance. Nous avons bien entendu les billets d'avion, les réservation de voiture et d'hôtels. Enfin bref...la totale. J'espère avoir de bons conseils pour prendre une décision. Merci à tous d'avance.
