Nous partons pour l'Argentine dans un mois, nous serons 10 jours sur place.
Nous voulons voir BA, la péninsule de Valdes, El Calafate et Ushuaia (dans cet ordre) C'est court, je sais....
Déjà ce sera l'avion pour circuler dans le pays. Mais nous souhaitons tout de même louer une voiture dans un des sites, histoire de se ballader un peu. En lisant les guides, j'ai bien envie de prendre une voiture pour silloner la péninsule de Valdes et les environs si c'est réalisable. C'est une bonne idée ou pas?
D'autre part, nous allons de voir faire des choix: 3 destinations à deux jours et une à trois jour. Qu'en pensez vous, où faut-il rester trois jours?
Autre question: 600 euros pour BA-Trelew, Trelew-El Calafate, Elcalafate-Ushuaia, Ushuaia-BA. Ca vous semble honnête ou on peut chercher moins cher?

Oui c'est possible.........question ca sert a quoi ? Tu n as que 10 jours de vacances ou c est parce qu'ensuite tu enchaines une visite du Bresil en 10 jours !
Oui, je suis mechant, je le fait "a proposito" pour te montrer que ca ne sert a rien de "Faire" tout ca en 10 jours.
Un conseil : Tu as dix jours ( il te faut 24 heures pour te recaller du decallage horaire plus encore 24 heures pour que ton corps puisse se readapter d un changement de temperature de 0C a Paris a 35 C ici a Buenos Aires ), alors en 10 jours visite Buenos Aires.....c est tres bien Buenos Aires sous un soleil de plomb ( nous sommes a la meme "hauteur" que Casablanca sur l hemisphere nord)....il y a plein de truc a voir, a apprendre, . a visiter, a manger....bref plein de choses nouvelles a sentir et a ressentir...et en une semaine et demi surtout si tu n as qu un seul week end au milieu, ca sera meme trop court ..puisque je peux t'occuper en te fournissant des idees pour occuper au moins 3 week end a Buenos Aires !
Ne le prend pas mal, mais pour un premier saut dans la zone du rio de la Plata ..reste a Buenos Aires, tu n'auras ni le stress de l avion, ni les reveils a 5h00 du mat pour piquer un vol surchargé car nous sommes en epoque hyper saturé des grandes vacancess ici ..et ceci jusqu au 1er mars .
Buenos Aires, c est entre le Nord ( Tigre et ses tours en Bateau ) et le sud ( La Plata avec surement le premier musee au monde pour sa richesse paleonthologique ) deja 100 km ! et nous sommes toujours dans la zone du grand Buenos Aires !
Tu tiens tout de meme a sortir de la ville, ok....tu as la province de Buenos Aires ( 309.000 km2) plus grand que l Italie (303.000 km2) la dessus il y a de quoi faire encore qq jours de plus ! ( et en voiture si tu veux car tous ces sites se situent entre 100 et 800 km de Buenos Aires )
Ca c est deja dans la sierra de la ventana ( a 400 km de Buenos Aires )
Je ne reviens pas sur la réponse de Hergé, dans le fond je suis pas mal d'accord avec lui... Mais bon, si ton rêve à toi c'est de voir Ushuaia et non de t'imprégner un peu de l'Argentine des Porteños, c'est toi qui décides de ton voyage !
Pour répondre à ta question, au moins sur l'un des points : Pour El Calafate, si ce que tu veux c'est voir le glacier Perito Moreno, depuis les passerelles qui sont en face, ou en faisant un tour en bateau + mini-trek sur le glacier, c'est faisable en un jour (surtout en ce moment, les jours sont longs 😛). Dans tous les cas, il te faudra réserver les bus ou le tour organisé (bateau + trek) la veille ... Donc prévois d'arriver à une heure permettant de trouver les agences ouvertes, ou réserve à l'avance.

Pour répondre à ta question, je ne fais pas le Brésil, ni avant, ni après. Je prends juste 10 jours de congés annuels, pour répondre à des contraintes familiales et professionnelles.
Qu'est-ce que je suis neuneu! C'est vrai quoi, il suffit de dire à ses collègues de travail qu'on se barre plus longtemps que prévu et de mettre ses enfant à l'orphelinat pendant 2 mois... Non, mais, on se demande pourquoi j'y ai pas pensé plus tôt?!!
Remarque, je devrais peut-être aller faire une thalasso à Saint-Jean de Mont... Ca devrait suffire à mon cerveau de neuneu...et puis, je ne serais gênée ni par la canicule, ni par le décalage horaire.
Enfin, plus sérieusement, je n'ai pas le choix, c'est ça ou rien. Et ce sera ça, n'en déplaise aux puristes. J'ai bien conscience que c'est archi court pour découvrir un pays et que ça puisse sembler ridicule à certains, mais c'est comme ça. Je veux bien croire que BA et une ville qui mérite 10 jours de visite, qu'il y a un milliard de choses à voir, à faire, mais ce sont les contraintes de la vie. Et si j'ai un coup de foudre pour l'Argentine, j'y retournerai, après tout, il n'y a pas mort d'homme.

Je viens de lire le post sur les neuneux, j'avoue que c'est assez drole et surtout bien vu. J'ai également lu celui sur la modération sur ce forum, très instructif...
Je ne vois donc pas l'intérêt d'accueillir les nouveaux venus de cette manière, si ce n'est pour faire rire la galerie et flatter ton égo qui m'a l'air assez développé. Je ne suis pas sure qu'il y ait beaucoup de neuneux sur ce forum, je pense qu'ils se limitent aux brochures fournies par les tour-opérator. Par contre, ils y a certainement beaucoup de personnes comme moi, qui aimeraient voyager plus et mieux mais qui doivent se contenter de vacances courtes. La brièveté de leur séjour ne doit pas les exclure de tout échange dans un forum sur les voyages. C'est un principe assez répandu de liberté, de respect des différences...

et j' ai rencontre la mr herge, il n'est pas mechant dans le fond simplement un peu trop cru et categorique. je suis moi meme un voyageur genre neuneu, simplement je dirais avec des termes beaucoup plus sages et un peu plus de comprehension, que ce que le mechant herge voulait te dire, c' est qu'en effet si tu veus reelement et pleinement profiter de ton voyage, alors il serait plus sage et plus judicieux de voir beaucoup moins de choses, car a trop en faire tu risque gros de t' epuiser crois moi, en un mois sur l' argentine quasi rien vu de ce que je pensais pouvoir faire et visiter. quitte a voyager autant le faire avec plaisir, les deplacements crois moi ca epuise.
bon je te souhaite un superbe voyage, tu vas aime pour sur.
Apres discussion avec Herge et Fremen a BsAS (Salut!!!), je confirme Herge ne mord pas! Mais il faut le dire .... IL A RAISON! Mieux vaut se dire qu on passe 10 jours dans une des 24 regions de l Argentine et profiter des sites plus que des deplacement a repetitions... Pour info nous sommes argentine pour 1 mois et nous avons fait une croix sur le fait de faire le tour du pays apres 2 jours ...c est pas possible...alors en 10 jours...hufff 😕

Dans chacun de nous sommeille un neuneu, le tout c'est de le savoir et de l'empecher de remonter a la surface . Tu poses la question de savoir si en 10 jours il est possible de "faire" la Patagonie, les Andes du sud, les baleines et Buenos Aires ...comme je te l ai dit techniquement c est possible en avion, en helico et en satelite, mais physiquement ce ne sont plus des vacances mais plutot "operation James Bond", et humainement ca ne sert a rien.
Si tu n as que 10 jours de vacances, c est mieux que rien, mais dans ce cas la, il faut se donner un parcours de 10 jours a faire au sol ( pas dans les airs ou dans les aeroports ). Alors je reedite mon conseil ( qui n'engage que moi ) . Pour 10 jours pour un premier voyage dans le coin : je conseille Buenos Aires, traversée en ferry sur l'Uruguay a Colonia et si tu veux un peu de campagne par exemple la Sierra de la Ventana a 400 km de Bsas ( et deja tout ca, c est costaud a faire en 10 jours ).
Pour le cote ego, je suis entierement d accord avec toi, c est la seule maniere de faire reagir les esprits d'une part et d'autre part ca permet de faire rire la galerie, et comme on sait les meilleurs profs que l on a eu pendant ses etudes, ce sont les profs qui arrivaient a faire rire tout en explicant.
Alors te rends tu comptes ? Je viens peut etre de te sauver d une crise de neuneutisme et tu vas pouvoir passer 10 jours a visiter des endroits qui vont te faire rever a Buenos Aires et dans les environs et tout cela grace a moiiiiii ( ahhhhh mon ego vient de prendre encore 5 cm de plus..)......et meme a Buenos Aires tu viendras me remercier de mes conseils geniaux et qui sait tu me trouveras meme beau !

Je ne reviendrai pas sur nos projets car ils te feraient bondir, je crois qu'il vaut mieux éviter de s'embourber dans une discussion sans fin. D'autant plus que je comprends tout à fait ton point de vue, auquel je dois bien l'avouer, j'adhère malgré tout. Je vais même te faire un compliment : tu as réussi à déstabiliser mes convictions le temps d'une soirée .
J'ai bien compris ton message, mais je vais délibérément faire la neuneu, en toute (mauvaise?) conscience car je veux absolument voir Ushuaia, Perito Moreno et la péninsule de Valdes.
Je vais "faire" tout ça au pas de course et passer à coté de beaucoup de choses, en attendant, je poursuis mes recherches.
Mais quand meme Peninsule de valdes sans les baleines, ca ne sert a rien, c est comme Iguazu sans les chutes ou Pigalle sans le moulin rouge ! La seule diference c'est que valdes c est a 1800 km de Buenos Aires ( et aussi a 1800 km d Ushuaia), et aller la bas, meme en avion pour ne rien voir, c est dommage . ( Il n y a que des pingouins pour le moment et tu les verras aussi en Terre de feu si tu a toujours l intention d aller a Ushuaia ).
Si tu veux vraiment partir en Patagonie du sud, alors restes y tes 10 jours... serieux ... Ushuaia, Calafate, fait un tour dans les Andes..... et ( j espere ) passe a Buenos Aires 10 jours pour tes prochaines vacances !

j'ai fait en autre ton parcours :
1 journee a Buenos Aires puis vol pour Trelew
3 jours a Valdez, les derniers baleines etaient encore la : Si elles ne sont plus la 2 jours suffisent . On a loue une voiture en arrivant a l'aeroport de trelew, attention cela fait 800km de piste. On est alle a Punta Tombo. Meme sans les baleins c'est super.
Puis vol pour ushaia
4 jours a Ushaia : dont 3 jours de trek, 1 jour de beau temps, 1 jour de temps moyen et 1 jours de pluie intense. Trpo mauvais temps pour la navigation sur le canal de beagle.
Puis bus pour Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales et El Calafate.
2 jours a El Calafate : nous avons fait la ballage au pied du perito Moreno. C'est superbe. On avait pris un tour organie par le camping los dos pinos, qui inclut une promenade au pied du glacier.
pour test vols: Si c'est des vols sur aerolinas Argentina (site argentin), tu peux les prendre directement sur leur site en prenant le tarif 2ieme classe sans restriction, donc pas le moins cher. Tu payes le prix en pesos avec ta carte de credit. Il s'agit de billet electronique, tu te pointes a l'aeroport et on te donne ton billet. J'ai teste ca marche.
C'est eux qui m'ont explique comment faire.
Pour le decalage, actuellement il n'y a que 4 heures . Pas de probleme.
Si ton vol est un vol de nuit et si tu dors en avion (pas comme moi), il n'y a que peu de fatigue.
Bref en 10 jours, c'est chaud mais cela peut passer, surtout si tu as des vols en fin de journee. Les journees sont actuellement tres longues et les magasins sont ouverts jusqu'a 21h00. Cela laisse de la marge.

Je l'ai rencontré moi même (Hergé), il n'a pas la langue dans sa poche mais c'est une personne disponible, attentionnée et généreuse. Delphlille, si tu passes par Buenos, rencontre Hergé, tu seras certainement charmée par cette personne qui en plus t'expliquera pas mal de choses sur le pays (faut juste de temps à autre taper du poing sur la table pour prendre la parole ... 😉).

Bon, j'ai une grande nouvelle: on shunt Valdes, parceque je suis allergique aux sardines... Non, je plaisante. Hergé: c'est ton heure de gloire! Après maintes hésitations, nous avons décidé de suivre vos conseils (pauvres moutons que nous sommes) et annuler la péninsule de Valdes au profit de El Calafate et Ushuaia.

La péninsule de Valdes sans les baleines ça a autant d'intétets que la grande motte au mois d'aout.
Mieux vaut écouter Hergé concernant les distances, déja Ushuaia et Calafate et Bsas en 10 jours c'est beaucoup. Reserve vite tes billets d'avions argentins.

We’d leave Cusco on Day 1 to arrive at the site in the morning, then stay in Aguas Calientes or Ollantaytambo, and on Day 2 return to Cusco while visiting the Sacred Valley.
Is this doable?

We’re thinking of one or two "escapes" from Rio—3-day trips to get away from the city (so not too far, max 3–4 hours by car or bus). We’re all ears for suggestions! We love beautiful nature and authentic experiences, not so much the touristy spots... even though those spots are often in beautiful places, we’d rather avoid them.

I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April.
Here’s what I had in mind:
8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights.
7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!
Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address!
The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).
A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro.
Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.
Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

10/12: Flight to Santa Marta. Drive to a hotel near Tayrona Park.

Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Other agencies or guides either offer shared rooms, no border transfer, or prices that are way too high. But I’d love to hear some reviews about this agency. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
