Je fais un tour presque complet Cape Town, le Cap, route des vins, Durban, Zoulouland, Swaziland, Parc Kruger, route des panoramas, Mpumalanga, Jobourg et chutes Victoria.
Quelles sont les zones à rique Palu ?? Quand commencer le traitement ??
nous faisons le meme voyage de la mi octobre a la mi novembre...cad en saison seche....or, les moustiques type anophele ne sont actifs qu'en saison humide (si je suis bien renseigne juillet serait saison seche au Kruger, seule zone a risques ou tu passes) et durant la nuit seulement (chambre avec air co/ou/tente?)!
il faut aussi savoir que la plupart des traitements sont toxiques pour le foie...(la malarone aussi!)
le mieux est l'ennemi du bien, je crois qu'il vaut mieux affronter un risque tres mineur que d'escamoter son foie!
en outre, a force de prendre des antimalariques a chaque fois qu'il existe le moindre danger, risque, a l'avenir, d'entrainer une resistance des anopheles aux traitements existants!
en resume, profite au max de ton voyage et cesse de te tracasser....oublie les antimalariques et utilise seulement des repulsifs anti moustiques...la nuit...si tu n'as pas l'air conditionne!

Le Kwazulu natal est également une zone à risque ..idem pour le zululand (frontière avec le Mozambique) ainsi que le Swaziland. (Donc pas uniquement la Zone du Kruger NP)
Comme le dit : Smouchy, les périodes plus à risques se situent de novembre à mars. Mais il y a, néanmoins, des mosquitos toute l'année dans les zones du Transvaal, Kruger et Natal. Actifs surtout entre le coucher et le lever du soleil.
Maintenant ...Chacun voit "midi à sa porte" et prend la décision qu'il estime la meilleure. En effet, s'ingurgiter des cachetons n'est pas forcément la meilleure chose qui soit ...Mais, personnellement m'étant, déjà chopé le palu, plus d'une fois ...je ne tergiverse plus sur la question et préfère me protéger! (ce n'est que mon opinion perso off course). Non traitée la malaria peut-être fatale (faut tout de même pas l'oublier!)
En classique : à la nuit tombée, porter des vêtements couvrants ...pionser si possible sous moustiquaire.
Bon séjour, l'Afrique du sud est un pays magnifique.
Tout dépend ...celui que tu souhaites prendre (et surtout, celui qui te convient car nombre d'entre eux ont malheureusement des effets secondaires (ex : lariam ))...d'autres ne sont pas suffisament efficaces ... d'autres encore coûtent la peau des fesses (🤪 arg!) comme la malarone.
Pour la malarone : 1 avant l'entrée en zone infestée - 1 / jour en étant en zone à riques - ensuite 1/ par jour (pendant 1 semaine) après être sorti de la zone.
Le mieux : se renseigner directement auprès de l'Institut Pasteur, ou un centre de médecine tropicale, ou auprès de Info service malaria (en AFS) :0 11 403 35 86.
il veut mieux se proteger 100% d'accord mais si vous consultez differents sites, pasteur, institut tropical, ... ils ne signalent pas les mêmes souches de palu pour une region identique.Le risque n'etant pas eleve en cette saison ne vaut-il pas mieux utiliser des ''repellent'' et se couvrir la nuit tombee que de se croire a l'abri apres avoir avale un medicament non adequat.....

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

We, as parents, have been through it in Egypt with pretty bad cases, but we’d really like to avoid that for our daughter. The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.

Once symptoms appear—sometimes weeks or even months later—death is inevitable.
It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
In case of a bite, in addition to standard wound care, tetanus prevention… rabies prevention is essential.
