Mon assurance voiture actuelle ne couvre pas la Russie (ni même jusqu'à l'Oural), afin de me simplifier les formalités j'aimerai m'assurer qu'il n'y ait pas trop de difficultés à acheter une assurance véhicule à la frontière.

Il faudrait que tu donnes l'endroit où tu souhaites passer la frontière.
Où je passe, il n'y en a pas.
Tu peux demander à ton assurance de te donner une assurance (carte verte) avec la Russie non barrée pour la durée de ton séjour par exemple ou le temps d'obtenir une assurance russe.

Ils ne regardent pas la carte d'assurance, quand j'ai une carte verte valable je la donne sinon je donne mon assurance russe pour la voiture.
Ils n'en ont pas besoin, voilà la réponse, pas besoin non plus de la carte de migration. Seulement le passeport et le certificat d'immatriculation.
En gros, tu passes d'abord pour voir si tu peux entrer en Russie (contrôle passeport, visa, certificat d'immatriculation) et tu reçois ta carte migration et cachet sur le passeport, ensuite tu vas à l'autre guichet où tu remplis le document d'importation du véhicule (en 2 exemplaires) et tu leur donnes encore ton passeport et ton certificat d'immatriculation.
Tu recevras un exemplaire sur lequel une vignette reprenant les données de ton véh. sont inscrites en russe.

En septembre 2018, douane Estonie-Russie de Lahamaa. Un camarade a contracté une assurance russe dans un bureau attenant à la première station service.
Il a signé un contrat d'une dizaines de pages digne d'un acte notarial d'autant plus long à renseigner que le préposé maîtrisait aussi mal l'anglais que le passage du clavier cyrillique au clavier romain. 😏
Ma copine et moi comptons également rentrer en Russie avec notre propre véhicule au poste frontière de Zilupe dans 1 semaine. Pouvez-vous me dire quelles étaient les formalités, documents, etc que vous avez du suivre/remplir pour passer la frontière? Nous avons tout nos papiers en règle mis à part l'assurance du véhicule. Qu'en est-il de cette assurance voiture? Est-il possible de contracter cette assurance à la frontière? Doit-on la prendre au préalable?

Vous pouvez demander à votre assurance d'émettre une carte verte pour la Russie pour la durée de votre voyage (c'est le plus simple) , j'espère que vous avez un courtier qui a des documents d'assurances avec "Russie non barrée". Le délai est trop court si vous n'avez pas de courtier et que vous êtes assurer chez une compagnie qui travaille uniquement par téléphone.
Je ne suis jamais passé en Russie par la Lettonie, donc j'ignore s'il existe des compagnies d'assurance en Russie à cet endroit
J'espère que vous parlez un peu russe, dans ce cas vous pouvez vous rendre, dans n'importe quelle ville, dans une compagnie d'assurance russe avec vos documents et vous serez assurer pour un mois ou plus
L'assurance et le permis de conduire ne me sont jamais demandés à la douane (avec moi)

Alors nous sommes passés la frontière russe hier dans l'après-midi. Donc à la frontière les douaniers nous ont demandé nos passeports, nos visas, notre carte de véhicule, notre permis suisse et notre permis international. Ils nous ont également demandé notre carte verte et là grand moment de panique à savoir si oui ou non nous pourrions passer la frontière. Par chance ils n'ont pas remarqué que la barre russ était barrée (ou ils ont remarqué mais rien dit?). Après 8 contrôles nous sommes enfin entré en Russie. Nous avons roulé jusqu'à une station et le monsieur qui soit dit en passant était très gentil nous a dit que nous pouvions en faire une à la frontière... comme nous ne voulions pas retourner en arrière il nous a indiqué la ville suivante celle de Pustoshka et à l entrée de la ville il y a une barraque (vous verrez une affiche deçu avec un scooter si je ne me trompe pas) et là vous pouvez faire une assurance voiture pour 2 semaines, 1 mois, 2 mois ou plus. Il faut payer en espèce, les euros sont acceptés (pas les pièces). Compter 40€ pour 2 mois. La dame qui tient la barraque est très gentille et vous aidera volontiers (be parle pas anglais, mais avec google translate on arrive a tout!). Pour notre part nous n'avons vu qu'une seule barraque de ce genre sur notre trajet pour Moscou. Et nous n'avons pas été controle une seule fois jusqu'à Moscou. Bonne chance et ne vous fier pas aux agents de frontière, le reste des russes sont très gentils et se feront un plaisir de vous aider! Bonne route :)

Ils vous ont demandé votre permis national? International d'accord , je sais, il n'est valable qu'avec le permis national.
Les premières années je remettais le permis international et l'assurance qu'il me rendait sans regarder. Maintenant je ne donne que les documents russes d'importation du véhicule et la carte d'immatriculation avec mon passeport. Les douaniers m'ont dit qu'il n'en avait pas besoin.
C'est suffisant.
Le pays est le même, mais les douanes sont différentes suivant les endroits...

Olala oui, je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais ils ont regardé (et on a compté!) 7x nos passeports et visa, ainsi que notre carte d immatriculation (carte grise). Ils ont également fouillé le véhicule 2x, mais de manière très supperficielle. Je ne sais pas si c est en lien avec notre type de visa... humanitaire? Ils ont un peu tiqué, car nous avons expliqué au 2ème douanier que nous allions en Mongolie, puis plus tard à un autre douanier quand ils nous ont demandé notre adresse de destination, nous avons donné l'adresse de l agence nous ayant délivré le visa, à St-Petersburg (absolument pas sur notre route!). Ils ont du se communiquer la vrai info, car ils ont insisté encore pour connaitre notre destination exacte... enfin bon nous sommes en Russie c'est ce qui compte!

Je n'ai jamais vu de choses pareilles aux passages des frontières Russes ...ce ne serait pas plutôt le stress d'un premier voyage en Russie qui vous a traumatisé ....😉

Nous avons du traverser 8 "postes" différents. Et à chacun d'eux exepté la dernière barrière, un douanier différent nous a demandé nos passeports et la carte grise du véhicule. Je ne peux pas vous dire s'ils les ont regardé attentivement à chaque fois, ou si c'était simplement pour vérifier que chaque "étape" était bien faite... mais dans tous les cas ils nous ont bien demandé nos passeports et carte 7 fois...

Je ne vois pas l'intérêt de dire que l'on se rend en Mongolie quand on rentre Russie.
Je rentre au USA et je leur dis que je vais au Mexique. Même chose.
Il y a des douaniers et des policiers, ils n'ont pas le même uniforme, et dans la police leur chapeau et encore différent suivant le grade. Qui vous a contrôlé?
Le contrôle du véhicule se fait souvent 2x. avec des miroirs parfois.
A la rigueur j'admets 3 contrôles evt 4 suivant les saisons, périodes.
J'explique, le premier pour contrôler si tu as un passeport
Le deuxième pour enregistrer ton visa et remettre ta carte migration
Le troisième (qui n'est pour moi pas un contrôle) pour déclarer ton véhicule et recevoir ton document d'importation provisoire valable 1 an.
Le quatrième, pour vérifier si tu as tous tes documents (tu n'as rien oublier)
Parfois, ils te remettent un document au premier ctrl que tu doit remettre au 4eme ctrl pour calculer le temps mis entre l'entrée et la sortie.
Il arrive aussi que le premier et le 4eme contrôle n'existe pas.
Le plus rapide pour moi a été de 30 minutes pour faire le tout. Je met plus de temps à sortir de schengen qu'à entrer en Russie.

Faut-il imprimer et remplir ces 4 pages avant (au risque de commettre des erreurs), ou bien peut-on faire toutes ces formalités sur-place avec les imprimés de la douane ?
L agence qui nous a fait nos invitations m'avait envoyer le formulaire déjà rempli pour que je n'ai plus qu'à copier. Mais sur place ils nous l'on donner en anglais alors je pense que ce n'est pas nécessaire...
Pour répondre, je ne pourrais pas dire qui nous a contrôlé Schengen, russe aucune idée... mais bon plus très importanr de toute façon on est passé :)

Si tu fais des erreurs avant, tu risques de faire des erreurs également le jour de ton passage.
Donc, il vaut mieux les préparer à l'avance, dater et signer le jour du passage.
S'il y a une erreur, ils te feront recommencer. J'ai eu un allemand devant moi, il a recommencé 5 ou 6 fois et les autres attendent derrière lui.
Prend ton temps à la maison, en anglais ou en russe, cela n'a pas d'importance, tu remplis le plus facile. (c'est facile)

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
I read on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that it’s possible to apply for a temporary driving permit in China, valid for 1 month.
