nous sommes 2, et nous serons à tupiza autour du 23-24 fevrier. nous souhaitons faire l'excursion de 4 jours au sud lipez et salar d'uyuni, avez vous une ou des agences à nous recommander ? (ou au contraire). notre budget est plutot serré.

J'ai contractualisé, un peu par hasard, avec l'agence Valle Hermoso, qui tient les 2 hôtels du même nom.
J'avais demandé en sus du programme standard d'explorer la possibilité d'escalader un volcan (Uturuncu ou Licancabur) si d'autres candidats se déclaraient.
Seule l'agence Grana de Oro a fait montre de s'intéresser à ma demande particulière. Toutefois, la veille de mon départ, l'option restait aléatoire pour le surlendemain car les 2 autres clients intéressés n'avaient rien confirmé et n'étaient pas encore arrivés à Tupiza. J'ai considéré que c'était trop aléatoire pour décaler d'un jour mon départ et j'ai donc exploré le reste du marché.
Tupiza Tours était cher, car ayant déjà rempli ses véhicules, me faisait payer un tarif très élevé (1800 Bolivianos si je me souviens bien). A posteriori, je ne regrette pas car leurs conducteurs sont assez jeunes, genre chien fou sur les pistes du Lipez. Plusieurs ont eu de la casse, d'où des retards parfois conséquents (génant, car pas de réservation dans les gites : premier arrivé, premier servi). De plus, leurs 4x4 roulent en convoi (avantage pour être dépanné, mais pas très dépaysant de se retrouver avec une bande d'occidentaux). Et le soir, la bande boit son alcool.
Valle Hermoso où j'avais pris une chambre collective (équivalent d'un dortoir à 3) a su se montrer accomodant sur le prix (1000 Bol pour 5, et j'étais le 5ème => inclusion de ma nuitée à 80 Bol et tarif abaissé pour la location d'un sac de couchage), mais sans l'option escalade de volcans (sans même s'y intéresser). Comme il y a eu 2 défections le matin même (j'ai quelques doutes tout de même sur le sujet...), j'ai finalement payé 1200 Bol avec mes 2 autres co-voyageurs.
Ma très grande chance a été d'avoir Javier CHOQUEDONAIRE comme chauffeur/guide et sa femme comme cuisinière. Irréprochables, pas la moindre inquiétude, conduite prudente, maintenance préventive du 4x4... Seul inconvénient, ne parle qu'espagnol. Et n'avait pas d'adresse email permettant de le contacter directement.

1200 Bs. Si 4 passagers, 1000 Bs. Si 5.
Pour 4 jours 3 nuits sans l'option volcan mais un groupe le faisait c'est donc possible avec cette agence.
Notre chauffeur Idel très sympa parlant espagnol et un peu anglais, vraiment un peu ...
On a eu de bon repas, des pauses gouters avec des barres de chocolat etc
super chouchoutes et tout
juste prévoir qu'il faut payer lentree dans le parc 150 bs je crois
mais je ne regrette pas de les avoir choisis même si j'avoue que je n'ai pas fait le tour des agences j'ai écouté les conseils de voyageurs pour faire mon choix

Je suis également passé par Valle hermoso l'été dernier, et en ai été très satisfait. 1200 Bol/pers pour 4pers si mes souvenirs sont bons...
Sinon, pour 3j/2n depuis tupiza ce n'est certainement pas ce qui se vend majoritairement, du coup à moins d'être un groupe déjà constitué (ou d'être prêt à louer un 4x4+chauffeur+cuisinière pour soit tout seul) ça me parait difficile.

Je ne pense pas, car l'approche depuis Tupiza est assez longue. De plus, même en partant très tôt le premier jour, les localisations des hébergements possibles ne se prêtent pas aisément à un découpage sur 3 jours.
Depuis Tupiza, le tour dure en fait 3,5 jours, car l'on est déposé en début d'après-midi à Uyuni, ce qui permet à l'équipage d'être de retour à Tupiza le soir même. Et ainsi d'enchaîner un nouveau circuit.
L'un des avantages du départ depuis Tupiza, c'est de voir des zones non couvertes par les tours depuis Uyuni. D'autant que le 3ème jour de ces tours, retour sur Uyuni, a la réputation d'être d'un intérêt très relatif.

Nous avons prévu le tour du sud Lipez en 4 jours, fin octobre 2011, avec arrivée à Uyuni....comment revenir rapidement sur Tupiza si pas proposé par Agence?
Dans mon cas, l'agence Valle Hermoso m'a indiqué que cela ne faisait pas partie de sa prestation, mais que je pouvais voir avec le chauffeur, qui de toute façon rentre sur Tupiza le jour même.
Et effectivement, le chauffeur m'a ramené à Tupiza. Sans qu'il m'ait demandé de rémunération. J'ai augmenté mon pourboire en conséquence pour une prestation générale qui m'avait déjà hautement satisfait.
La route Uyuni -> Tupiza présente peu d'intérêt au début, traversée d'une étendue quasi désertique. Puis cela devient montagneux. La plus belle partie est sans doute peu avant d'arriver à Tupiza, mais c'était malheureusement de nuit, car une réparation préventive a consommé 2 heures.

nous avons choisi alejandro adventure travel sur les conseils d'autres personnes, et nous avons été ravies des prestations. nous étions 4, je crois que nous avons payé 1250 bolivianos par personne, plus 150 pour l'entrée du parc, soit 1400 au total. 4 jours au départ de tupiza, arrivée à uyuni le 4è jour en début d'aprèm, 2 d'entre nous ont fait le retour sur tupiza pour le même prix.
le 4x4 était très bien entretenu, le chauffeur conduisait prudemment, et la cuisinière nous a assurée des repas pantagrueliques et variés, ainsi que des petits casse-croutes pendant la journée. bref rien à dire au niveau nourriture, c'était vraiment bien.
donc je vous la conseille !

nous avons réservé sur place, la veille du départ (ms nous étions déjà 4 pou remplir le 4x4).
nous avons dormi dans des sortes de refuges/gites, le plus souvent en dortoir, correct mais sans chauffage (il faut un bon sac de couchage, vous pouvez en louer un, 50 bolivianos pour les 3 nuits). la dernière nuit, nous avons pu dormir ds un hotel de sel au bord du salar d'uyuni, car c'était une période creuse.
n'hésitez pas si vous avez d'autres questions.
Pourriez-vous me dire si vous avez finalement finalisé votre tour avec Terra Andina pour cet été ? A quoi correspond ce tarif de 130 Euros exactement ? Vous êtes combien dans le 4/4 , ou allez-vous dans les hôtels , pour combien de jours ? Je vous demande tout cela car nous sommes également en contact avec cette agence et ils viennent de nous proposer un tarif exorbitant pour 3 personnes !! Nous voudrions partir début Aout . Petit retour d' experience ... nous venons de terminer notre tour dans le sud lipez et les salars au depart de Tupiza.

Vraiment bien se renseigner, car sans le parc, les 3 premiers jours perdent un peu de leur interet (meme si les paysages sont sympas, heureusement on a quand meme pu voir la laguna colorada).
Evidemment, avant de partir, pratiquement toutes les agences nous ont dit que le parc avait reouvert ... mais on a decouvert qu' on ne pourrait pas y aller en cours de route : grosse deception.
La seule agence qui a ete honnete avec nous a ete El Gran de Oro ... avec qui nous n'avons pas pu partir malheureusement, car nous n'etions pas assez nombreux pour remplir une voiture.
On est parti avec notre Hostal (Cnl Pedro Arraya) par defaut et on ne recommende pas vraiment. Correct mais vraiment sans plus ... Le chauffeur (Antonio) qu'on a eu a ete tres desagreable et ne connaissait pas bien la route. Il a seulement ete sympa avec nous le dernier jour pour qu'on lui donne une bonne evaluation. Notre cuisiniere (Adelaida) etait correcte mais sans plus.

Je suis actuellement à La Paz et les agences affichent toujours "conditions climatiques difficiles" mais je ne sais pas à quoi cela correspond exactement. En esperant que ça s'arrangera pour vous d'ici la.
Nous sommes 5 et allons visiter le sud Lipez et le Salar fin août (de préférence à départ de Tupiza, éventuellement avec tupiza tour, départ de l'excursion probablement le 24 août). J'ai une question très pratique concernant le transport de la Paz à tupiza : On me conseille de prendre le bus vers oruro puis le train jusqu'à Tupiza. Seulement, le train qui arrive à Tupiza le 24 aout au matin (Expreso del Sur) arrive à 4h du matin, et le tour commence à 9h.
Est-il possible de trouver un petit logement à 4h du matin pour déjà repartir à 9h? Ou vaut-il mieux reculer notre programme d'un jour et prendre le train qui arrive à Tupiza le 25 août à 8h30 du matin (wara wara)?

oui, le Sud Lipez était ouvert à partir du 09 août environ, sauf le désert de Siloli, et les paysages étaient somptueux...époustoubouriffants...
Oui, le mois d'août est une très bonne période, beau temps, un peu frisquet la nuit, 0 ° ou moins... Prévoir des bons sacs de couchages dans les refuges mais 10 -15 ° la journée, très bien.

Nous sommes passés par Terra Andina pour le Sud Lipez: http://www.terra-andina.com/ . Il y a même des Français au bureau de La Paz, très sérieux et compétents, demande Humberto comme guide, il est super.

Terra Andina pour le Sud Lipez, L'île du Soleil et également pour les trajet de La Paz au Salar d'Uyuni et de Uyuni à Sucre. pour les grands déplacement c'était beaucoup plus simple pour l'organisation (on ne parle pas Espagnol...) quant à louer une voiture, c'est chaud à cause de la circulation type Amérique du Sud.....

Tu peux les louer, demande leur, prévois juste "un sac à viande".

Tout ça dépend du prix que tu es prêt à mettre, mais il faut mieux payer un peu plus cher et avoir des hébergements corrects. Je pense que Terra Andina ne propose que des lieux propres et salubres.
Pour ceux que ça intéresse le prix du circuit sur la base de 2 personnes est d'environ 3000 euros par personnes avec des hébergements sommaires le plus souvent!!!!
Je crois que je vais plutôt louer un véhicule 4x4 et partir à l'aventure.

Nous envisageons un nord Argentine/Chili et petit tour en Bolivie dans la période 20 juillet /31 août...
nous revenons de Bolivie et avons fait le tour du sud Bolivien depuis la ville de TUPIZA: Tupiza => Uyuni => SPA.
Possibilité de varier les circuits TUPIZA puis les lagunes puis uyuni ou Uyuni vers SPA. Tout dépend des contraintes de votre voyage. Le salar était encore un peu innondé et c'est par cela qu'ils entendent conditions difficiles j'imagine. (c'est encore la saison des pluis jusqu'à fin février)

(Apache tours/voyage, agence tenue par Nelson Blas Quisbert Salvatierra lipez90@hotmail.com) Ce qui compte en dehors du prix (les tarifs se tiennent entre agences) c'est le soin et l'entretien apportés au véhicule et le sérieux du chauffeur car oui ce n'est pas sans danger. Nelson est hyper méticuleux, il n'hésite pas à s'arrêter pour prise de photos, serieux aussi car ne boit pas et sa cuisinière était au petit soin avec des plats variés et savoureux...

Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.

Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.

We especially love nature: hiking, wildlife watching, birds, etc.
We’re planning to wrap up with a week around Paraty and Ilha Grande.
We’re not really into visiting big cities like São Paulo or Rio unless you think we’d be missing out big time.

Three years ago during a trip to Java (no, I didn’t post in the wrong forum!), I came across the address of former miners who had switched to “tourism” and organized nighttime ascents of the Kawah Ijen volcano and descents into the crater.
So I was thinking—maybe there are miners on the salt flats too, either former or still active, who do the same thing. If you’ve had an experience like this, I’d love any tips you can share.

Hi there, since there isn’t much recent info on how to get to MP, I’d love to know if there have been any improvements to the "route" to Hydroelectrica. Is it feasible to drive there in February? And is it still possible to walk all the way to Aguas Calientes? I think I read somewhere that it’s no longer allowed??
