Bus from Cebu to Hagnaya

HI
Hi there. Is there a bus from Cebu to Hagnaya port? (to get to Bantayan). I’ve read about it on blogs, but 12Go only shows me taxis.... I’d heard that buses leave from the North Terminal in Cebu, so I’m looking for accommodation in that area... Any up-to-date info would be great....

Hi there,

12Go (and similar sites) usually only lists transportation options that earn them a commission if you book through their site. If the bus mentioned in blogs is a slow local one that can't be booked online, it’s unlikely to appear there—they’d rather push you toward booking a taxi that earns them some money. Bottom line: don’t rely on 12Go (or similar sites) as the go-to source for all transport options between Point A and Point B. As for the blogs you’re reading, first check when the info was written (or last updated). If the post is both dated and recent, it’s more reliable than an old or undated one.

It's true that everyone swears by 13Go... but the options offered are limited... to the most expensive ones! I think I'm gonna ditch this app

Hi Martine, From Cebu to Hagnaya or Santa Fe, you need to take the bus at the North Terminal (North terminal), next to SM City Mandaue. If you want a hotel right nearby, the Bayfront Hotel is just across the road. For the buses, you buy your ticket on the spot, and here’s a little tip: there are buses that go directly to Bantayan Island, which saves you from having to transfer your luggage from the bus to the boat in Hagnaya. If you need any more info, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’ve been living in Santa Fe for a long time. Best regards, Denis.

Thanks so much for this valuable info. Being able to go straight to Bantayan is perfect! Are there buses regularly, or is it better to check the schedules the day before?

In the morning, there are regular buses to Bantayan (every hour), with the last departure at 12:30 PM. Otherwise, buses to Hagnaya run all day.

Hi there, you seem to know your way around transportation in Cebu. Same issue here: 12go only offers taxis from Cebu City to Moalboal. Do you know if buses are still running from the Cebu South Bus Terminal? Same question for heading back south to Liloan and the ferry: are there any buses from Moalboal to Liloan? It's really tough to find this info—Rome2Rio has outdated details too. Example: Ceres Bus apparently closed. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi there! As you kindly offered, I’m coming back to you with another question... After my stay in Bantayan, I need to meet up with friends in Panglao. I was planning to wing it once I got there, but I just read that during peak season (it’ll be February 10th), you really need to book the ferry from Cebu to Tagbilaran in advance. Do you have any tips for me? Thanks so much in advance! In Bantayan, we booked at Tiki Bantayan Cebu Touristes Inn in Pooc. Thanks for your reply! Martine

Buses from Cebu to Bantayan now leave from the SM bus terminal, opposite the Bayfront Hotel in North Reclamation. Either go to Hagnaya and take the ferry, or go directly to Bantayan and leave your luggage on the bus during the ferry crossing. Allow about 6 hours to Santa Fe under normal conditions, but much longer since the earthquake.

There’s now a Cebu–Bantayan air route twice a week on Fridays and Mondays.

I’m actually going there by plane in early November. Safe travels!

Thanks. That’s actually interesting. For now, the schedule only goes up to January. Maybe there’ll be more trips during peak season...?

no more schedules, not sure. For February flights, we’ll have to wait until next month.
