Sur le mail que l'ambassade nous a envoyé, il est écrit que "Dès votre arrivée au Canada, vous devez obtenir un numéro d'assurance sociale (NAS). Les instructions sont disponibles au www.servicecanada.gc.ca/fr/sc/nas/index.shtml" et donc là, j'aimerai bien savoir un peu plus concrètement en quoi ça consiste... Je suis allée sur le site, mais bon, j'ai pas tout compris...

Dans le cadre du programme vacances travail, un permis de travail d'une durée d'une année maximum non renouvelable vous sera délivré.
Obtenir un numéro NAS est la démarche suivante à entreprendre puisqu'il est obligatoire pour pouvoir occuper un emploi.
Ce numéro NAS sera provisoire, une date d'expiration sera indiquée sur la carte plastifiée qui vous sera fournie par Service Canada. Il est impossible de travailler sans ce numéro.

J'ai aussi un PVT et suis au Canada depuis début mai 2008. Le NAS c'est le numéro de sécurité sociale qui, comme en France, est indispensable pour travailler. Cela te permets simplement de bénéficier de leur loi sur le travail, la protection des travailleurs, etc...
Je me demandais aussi comment l'obtenir, car les indications données dans ton obtention de visa ne sont pas claires. Mais en fait c'est super simple. Le plus simple, et de loin le plus rapide, c'est de te rendre directement dans un des bureaux dont tu trouveras l'adresse sur le lien qu'il y a dans le mail d'obtention de visa. 2 jours après mon arrivée, j'y suis allé. Je précise que je suis en Ontario, et qu'ici ils parlent anglais. Malgré tout, on m'a demandé à mon arrivée dans ce bureau si je voulais etre recu par un francophone, donc pas de panique. La personne m'a demandé mon passeport, mon permis de travail, et mon adresse. Après un entretien rapide, elle m'a fourni mon numéro NAS temporaire, et m'a dit que je recevrais à domicile ma carte NAS (petite carte du meme format que notre carte de sécu). Je l'ai effectivement recu une semaine après, mais comme elle m'avait déjà donné un papier temporaire avec ce numéro j'ai pu commencer ma recherche d'emploi dès le début.
Tout ce qu'il faut savoir sur le NAS c'est que le notre, dans le cadre du PVT, est temporaire et commence par un 9, ce qui ne nous donne pas le droit de travailler partout, ni d'ouvrir un commerce.
