Je vais passer 2 semaines au canada au mois de septembre, j'ai préparé un itinéraire assez chargé car je souhaite découvrir le maximun de choses de ce magnifique pays. Malheuresement je ne pourrai biensûr pas tout voir ni tout visiter, c'est pour cela que j'ai besoin de vos conseils.
Ma question est de savoir quels sont les pricipaux sites et centres d'intêrets à ne pas louper dans chacunes de ces villes : Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal et Quebec. Sachant que mon passage dans ces villes sera plutôt rapide en effet j'ai prévu d'y rester uniquement 2 jours dans chacune d'entre elles donc je veux découvrir vraiment l'essentiel et éviter de faire que des musées.

Moi, je trouve un peu dommage que tu limites ton projet aux grandes villes. Peut être garder Ottawa et Quebec, à voir absoluement, et choisir entre Toronto et Montréal. Parceque tu vas aborder la région à la plus jolie saison, celle des couleurs. Et aller dans la nature vaut vraiment le coup. Septembre c'est encore un peu jeune pour avoir de belles teintes dans le sud de la province, et encore du coté des Cantons de l'Est, j'ai vu l'an passé certains arbres rougir dans le parc du mont orford dès le début du mois, mais ils étaein encore rare... cependant, si tu montes un peu plus au nord de Quebec, sur le Charlevoix ou le Saguenay tu devrais pouvoir apprécier une belle palette de couleurs... et puis ce n'est pas très loin de Québec : si tu as une voiture, tu es à Tadoussac en 2 heures environ... A faire aussi, le sentier de l'Acropole dans le parc des Hautes gorges de la Malbaie (attention la montée est un peu rude et longue mais le paysage unique), et le sentier de la statue au parc du Saguenay (secteur de la rivière éternité)...
Pour les villes, je n'ai rien à ajoutter aux infos de rsaucier ! Sinon, de ne pas négliger une ballade dans Québec by night : c'est sublime !
En tout cas, si tu veux qques photos du coin, j'en ai un stock sur mon ordi que je me ferai un plaisir de t'envoyer !

Mais je te rassure bonhomme la nature et les différents parc nationaux prendront une grande place dans mon itinéraire, cette partie là de mon voyage est déjà bien ficelé, il me manquait juste quelques éléments pour savoir que voir dans les 4 grandes villes qui font partie de mon circuit.
En tout cas je te remercie pour tes idées de balades dans le parc des hautes gorges et du saguenay, étant une randonneuse avertie je ne manquerais pas de découvrir ces 2 sentiers.

Selon moi, vous devriez laisser tomber toronto, puisque la route pour celle-ci est tres longue plus de 530km de montreal, ca vous donnera plus de temps pour visiter ottawa, montreal et québec en plus de faire de belles randonnées dans des petites routes campagnardes...........
Juste une petite précision à propos des musées. A Ottawa, j'ai beaucoup aimé le musée des beaux arts car il présente une très belle collection de toiles impressionnistes de peintres canadiens assez méconnus. De même, à Hull, (jsute en face d'Ottawa), le musée canadien des civilisations est très intéressant... En revanche, à mon avis, la visite du biodome de Mtl ne présente qu'un intérêt assez limité. Il en va de même avec celle de l'aquarium de Québec. En revanche, dans cette dernière ville ne pas manquer la visite (gratuite) d'une maison située dans le quartier Champealin (et dont le nom m'échappre provisoirement), et dans laquelle vous pourrez découvrir l'intérieur québecois du XVII et XIX !
les colines de la Gatineau pres d'Ottawa (environ 10km en passant le pont endirection du Quebec). Surtout en septembre il y aura des jolies couleurs, c'est un parc immense avec plein de petits lacs, on peut y faire des randonnes et pique nique. A Ottawa, il y a le musee de la nature (gratuit le jeudi de 5pm a 8pm), interessant et pas trop grand a visiter. Croisieres sur le canal Rideau ou la riviere des outaouais. Bien sur allez voir le parlement: un petit truc: allez y juste avant la tombee de la nuit, il y a un petit coin sur la droite du parlement ou un monsieur nourri les chats benevolement, vous aurez peut etre la surprise de voir des ratons laveurs sortir de leur cachette pour venir manger la nouriture des chats. Voila pour aujourd'hui.
Je crois pas que Montréal-Toronto, c'est 530 km, sinon ça ferait 6 heures de route... Es-tu sûre de ça? Je suis jamais allé à Toronto en passant par Montréal, mais il me semble que 6 heures ça fait un peu long. Il me semble que quelqu'un m'avait dit que c'était 4 heures de route ou 5 maximum. Mais en tout cas...
Pour donner mon avis, ce que tu ne devrais pas manquer, à Québec, la Haute et la Basse-Ville de Québec, c'est-à-dire le Vieux-Québec. Mais comme tu restes en France, tu dois êyre habitué de voir du "Vieux". Dans ce cas, ce ne sera pas un trop gros dépaysement pour toi.
Il y a aussi le Vieux-Montréal et le Vieux-Port, à Montréal, bien sûr. Bon, le centre-ville, Plateau-Mont-Royal. Il y a une belle vue de la ville de Montréal. Tu vois la ville de haut. C'est vraiment cool! Pis... à part ça, ben t'as le Stade Olympique, le Centre Bell. Je sais pas si tu vas trouver ça cool, mais en tout cas...
Oui, j'avais déjà entendu une reflexion comme la tienne à propos de Québec... mais tu sais on a beau être européens et naviguer dans des villes "historiques" Québec c'est vraiment un gros coup de coeur... Enfin, moi, perso je préferre de loin Québec à Montréal ou Ottawa...

Effectivement la distance est vraiment très longue entre toronto et montréal, 🤪 mais comme je m'arrête aussi à Ottawa, je pense que la route me semblera beaucoup moins longue...

Ottawa et Toronto sont toutes les deux à l'ouest de Montréal, donc c, est la même direction .Tu peux tres bien faire un arrêt à Ottawa et continuer vers l'ouest vers Toronto....et de là les chutes....mais ça devient un autre voyage!!!
Je confirme ce qui a été dit plus haut concernant Ottawa: c'est une belle ville, propre, calme et intéressante.
Toronto-Montréal ça prend 5 1/2 hrs de trajet sur autoroute 401 à vitesse raisonnable 120km/hr, j'y suis allé quelques fois, toutefois fais attention à ton heure d'arrivée à cause du trafic. Tu peux très bien aller à Ottawa quoique un peu plus au Nord et ça vaut le coup et c'est presque sur le même chemin car comme l'on t'as dit c'est le temps des couleurs qui commence à ne pas manquer.
Toronto est bien grosse ville, il faut compter 2 heures pour la traverser, d'ou le 5 a 7 heures pour se rendre de montréal, mais ca se fait tres bien...Des tonnes de béton et on n'y mange pas tres bien partout, rien de particulier a voir, les grandes villes d'amériques sont toutes pareilles, il y a la tour du CN...
Continue jusqu'a Niagara Falls si tu peux, c'est 2 heures de plus, mais ca c'est spectaculaire...
Montréal a un nitelife des plus explosé, on y mange de tout et a tout prix...
Québec est plus touristiquement intéressant dans la basse-ville...
Mais ce qui vaut le dépaysement c'est la région du charlevoix, va voir le casino a pointe-au-pic, a 2 heures de route de québec...Et puis les baleines c'est pas mal plus loin encore, mais les grands espaces du charlevoix sont les plus spectaculaires de tout l'est du canada

Il faut aller à Toronto ! Ca n'a rien à voir avec Montréal (5H de route), Québec et Ottawa, c'est complètement différent. Surtout, si tu n'es jamais allé aux USA, c'est une ville relativement américaine, donc c'est à voir.
Alors, comme tu ne restes que 48H, je te recommande le Toronto City Pass à $46 (citypass.com). Qui te donne un droit d'entrée dans les 6 principaux musées de Toronto, ils sont grandioses. Il y a donc : la CN Tower qui fait 447m de haut, vue imprenable ! Et à 342m, il y a un sol de glace, effrayant ! Casa Loma, un château de 98 pièces Art Gallery of Ontario, 38 000 oeuvres d'art, dont des Money, Matisse, bref ça coupe le souffle (enfin moi ça m'a émue) Ontario Science Centre et ces 800 expérience interactives Toronto Zoo, 5000 bêbettes quand même Et à ne pas manquer : The Royal Ontario Museum, un immense musée d'histoire naturelle.Ensuite, il te restera peu, pas de temps. Mais sinon il reste le Eaton Centre, le Deuxième plus grand centre commercial du monde. Les Toronto Islands, avec une superbe vue sur Toronto (Ferries sur Queens Quay and Bay). Et un hyppo tour (départ sur Front st and York), c'est ue car touristique qui fait le tour de la ville, de ses monuments principaux, et qui se tranforme en bateau pour un petit tour sur le lac Ontario. Marrant et original plutôt qu'un car classique.
Il y a encore plein de choses à faire mais en 48H, c'est le principal. J'espère que ça t'aidera !

Bonjour, je ne sais pas exactement quelle date voudrais-tu y aller mais en Outaouais, dans les premieres semaines de Septembre, le Mont-St-Marie qui est a environ 1h30 de Ottawa organise le Festival des Couleurs, c'est de toute beautee car vous pouvez monter sur les montagne avec des monte-pente et voir toutes les couleurs des arbres d'automne de tout l'outaouais, je crois que c'est une tres belle experience a vivre, si tu viens dans l'outaouais! Ottawa est quand meme une ville assez industrialise alors si tu recherce plus de tranquilite et de nature tu devrais probablement venir faire ton tour vers Gatineau et ses environs, superbe region a decouvrir, tout comme les Laurentides!

rien a voir entre le canyon et le parc...le canyon est commercial et se visite en 15 minutes...l'autre, le parc des hautes gorges est en pleine nature sauvage du plateau laurentien dans ce qu'il a de plus beau a offrir...un endroit remarquable et peu publicisé, et pourtant d'une tres grande accessibilité...

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.
Everything’s booked for September—flights, accommodations, and the car. As I plan, I’ll be asking the experts for help. This is our second trip to California, but most of the stops are new to us.
We’ll start directly from San Francisco to our first overnight stop, Davis, before heading to Lassen Volcanic Park for 4 nights. Our flight lands at 12:50 PM.

Paradise Meadow (maybe not going all the way), Devastated Area, and the loop around Reflection and Manzanita Lakes (Day 3)
Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

Just a little post that might interest some of you:

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.
