Nous souhaitons réaliser un vieux rêve en août 2015 : le Cap Nord à moto.
Ce voyage se fera en famille avec un 1200 GS pour mon mari et un 1200 Inazuma pour moi, notre fille de 13 ans changera de selle un jour sur deux.
Notre projet, sur 4 semaines au départ de Versailles, serait de passer par la Belgique, les Pays-Bas, le Danemark, la Suède, la Finlande et de redescendre par la Norvège.
En ce qui concerne l'hébergement, nous envisageons de dormir en auberge de jeunesse pour visiter les capitales (Amsterdam, Copenhague, Stockholm, Helsinki et Oslo), et alterner camping sauvage, camping ou chalet.
Nous avons lu beaucoup de récits de voyage au Cap Nord passionnants mais peu détaillent les hébergements ou les coins sympas ou non pour le camping sauvage.
Il y a aussi mon RB et toutes mes infos en téléchargement.
Pour les logements, je n'avais quasiment rien réservé. J'avisai en focntion de mon arrivé.
Pour les bivouacs, j'était assez tôt dans la saison. Résultat, tout était détrempé (mais vraiment, de l'ordre de 10cm d'eau partout :-P J'ai eu l'impression d'etre dans un grand marécage.). Et les feuilles des arbres n'était pas présente, donc pas trés discret.

Pour ton RB, j'éviterai la finlande. Je ferai une remonté rapide par la norvége et l'E6 avec quelque passage en suede, et ensuite la redescente par la norvége aussi, mais par la route cotière et les fjords en prenant son temps

Lors de nos voyages, en voiture, nous avons privilégié les logements en hyters (chalet) présents dans la majorité des campings et parfois chez des particuliers. Afin d'avoir toute latitude d'horaire, nous n'avions pas réservé, mais arrêt vers 16h. Attention ce genre de logement est prisé lorsqu'il pleut ....
Nous venons juste de rentrer du Cap Nord ( Bordeaux Cap Nord en Moto Guzzi 1400 California) 9978km en passant par les pays que vous souhaitez traverser sauf la suede nous avons fait la Norvège su sud au Nord et d'est en Ouest a l'aller et au retour.

Nous avons bouclé ce périple en août 2013 MONTPELLIER-CAP NORD en 3 semaines sur une BMW GSA 1200; ce fût génial et nous avons essentiellement dormi sous la tente an camping sauvage en alternant 1 nuit/4 en camping tradi et avons tout de même dû nous poser en hytter et rorbu pour profiter des douches+lavage, séchage du matosse car en août nous avions besoin des combis pluie, la température moyenne était de 12° 😏.
Il est clair que l'hébergement et la restauration restent 2 postes très chers là haut, mais camper est autorisé et les lieux sont tous magnifiques 🙂, seule difficulté sur certains tronçons très escarpés le long des fjords ou il est quasi impossible de trouver un coin plat pour poser la tente...
Par ailleurs, les stations services sont de véritables épiceries de proximité ou les hot-dogs et boissons chaudes sont peu onéreux et servis toute la journée, la CB y est acceptée ce qui facilite le ravitaillement.

Nous avons fait exactement ce périple cet été du 10 juin au 11 juillet, remonter par la Finlande et descendre par la Norvège, mais pas en camping. Heureusement : la remontée de la Finlande s'est faite par un maximum de 6° avec de la pluie et de la neige. Nous avons apprécié la chaleur des cabanes dans les campings.
Nous avions opté pour campings, auberges de jeunesse et hôtels. L'auberge de jeunesse à Helsinki est très bien placée. A Stockholm nous avions une cabine dans un vieux bateau à quai 80 € à 15 min à pied du centre. Bon plan à Oslo : l'hôtel Gaustad, 63 € la nuit petit déjeuner compris.
A mi-chemin entre Bergen et Oslo (route magnifique) si c'est sur votre itinéraire, Langedrag Naturpark est un endroit magique, entre la ferme, le centre équestre, le parc zoologique où l'on peut dormir.
Des copains ont eu le courage d'oser le camping pour ce voyage en août, ils ont eu pas mal de jours de pluie. Respect.
Avec 2 motos pour 3 le camping est envisageable car il faut prévoir des conditions sinon hivernales au moins fraîches et assez sûrement humides.

En réponse a votre message nous avons fait le voyage du 31 mai au 29 juin en traversant la Belgique, les Pays Bas, l'Allemagne et le Danemark puis nous avons traversée la Norvège par la côte ouest les iles lofoten, la route de l'Atlantique et redescendu par l'est Roros ville minière , lillehamer ect....
Nous avons uniquement utilisé les auberges de jeunesse et les hyttes et rorbuer car en moto a cette période le température n'a jamais excédé les 6 degré ( neige, vent, pluie et souvent 0° centigrades).
Le plus cher la nourriture sauf dans les stations ( style snack), les hébergements et le carburant ( 2.00€ le litre).
Les routes a peages sont gratuites pour les motos et les ferry pas trop chers sauf les grosses traversées ( iles lofotens, danemark- Norvège) contactéz moi si vous souhaitez des détails sur les routes et autres.

Bonjour Joelle, il n'y a pas de problème si vous passé dans le coin de Liège sur le retour vous serez les bienvenus, pour la Corse on débarque à Bastia le 07/05 et on reprend le bateau pour Savona le 24/05 donc on ne pourra pas se rencontrer là, mais il n'est pas exclu que vous passiez par la maison sur votre voyage du retour ou que nous ayons à Versaille , car ma femme aimerais visité Paris et Versaille, en plus nous avons des amis en Vendée donc...N'hésité pas à nous contacté si vous aviez un soucis lors de votre passage en Belgique, à bientôt Anne-marie et Damien.

Sachez que nous sommes allez au Cap Nord en juin 2014 avec mon épouse
en 1400 california moto Guzzi, nous avons parcourus 9978km A/R et nous
avons rencontrés des températures très basse et surtout beaucoup d'humidité,
de la neige , et souvent 0°C.
Il faut absolument un double tenue moto Gants, bottes, et des vêtements de pluie,
sinon vous allez rouler humide, et avec le froid pas génial.

Tout à fait d'accord avec Norge 33 Nous y sommes allés en juin juillet 2014. Temps humide, froid, prévoir équipement d'hiver, sous-couches, softshells, gants hiver ou mi saison avec sous-gants soie. En août, il risque de faire un peu plus frais. Mais rien n'est écrit d'avance, l'été dernier était plutôt moins bon que d'autres mais pas exceptionnel.

Je pourrai te donner plus d'informations dans une dizaine de jours quand je serai rentré. De mémoire nous avons traversé la Finlande en 4 étapes (Helsinki, Vitasaari, Rovaniemi, Saariselka, Karigasniemi), dans des cabanes de campings, et pris le ferry entre Stockholm et Helsinki.
La route se fait bien, un peu monotone.

nous avons traversé la Belgique puis les pays bas et l'Allemagne et nous sommes monté a Hirtshals a la pointe du Danemark ou nous avons pris le ferry pour Larvik en Norvège.
Compagnie ferry line pour le prix de 59.00€ par pers moto comprise ( réservation sur site A FERRY)
Larvik est un peu a l'ouest de oslo ensuite nous avons remonté la Norvège par la E6 DE TOUT SON LONG, Oslo, lillehemer, dombas, Trondheim, Levanger, Mosjoen, Moi i rana, Fauske, Narvik, Moen, Oteren, Djupvik, Alta, Skaidi et le Cap Nord , on suit toujours la E6 qui est une bonne route mais il y a souvent des travaux. On suit tout le long la frontière Est de la Norvège. pOUR LES PEYIT PASSAGE EN FERRY PAS DE PROBLÈME IL Y EN A TOUTE LES DEMIS HEURES IL SUFFIT DE CE METTRE DANS LA FILE D'ATTENTE et le coût est minime quelques euros. I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?
I understand we need to book online rather than on-site.

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)

We haven’t booked any hotels—is that a problem? We were thinking of deciding day by day based on our progress.
Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?
