voici un petit compte rendu de notre croisière de 15 jours à bord du mediterranea.
Nous arrivons à l'aéroport de Guadeloupe vers 18H30, nous montons à bord du bateau vers 19H30. Nous n'avons pas besoin de réccupérer les bagages ils seront livrés directement dans notre chambre et je peux dire que les vacances commencent quand les deux sont devant la porte 😎 !
Nous décidons d'aller à notre chambre réccupérer nos cartes afin de pouvoir aller boire un verre car nous avons soif. Nous appercevons que le all inclusive n'est pas stipuler sur celle ci.... donc nous allons à l'accueil, montrons le mail comme quoi nous l'avons réservé et payé, tout est ok, on nous donne de nouvelles cartes avec l'inscription dessus (ça à pris 5 min pas plus)
Nous décidons d'aller se prendre un petit cocktail, et là nous nous apercevons qu'il n'y a plus de zone fumeur à l'intérieur... pas grave nous avons l'habitude de sortir dehors de la maison pour fumer et en France cela fait quelques années que nous ne fumons plus dans les lieux public. nous montons au pont 9 et dur dur de trouver une zone fumeur ou nous pouvons nous assoir pour boire un verre et fumer notre cigarette. En effet la zone fumeur se résume à 10 tables au pont 9 à la piscine centrale ! et même pas de cendriers de table, obliger de se lever pour atteindre l'un des 4 cendriers sur pied qu'il y a près des transats... nous investirons donc dans un cendrier... Il y a aussi une petite zone fumeur au pont 9 à la piscine à l'arrière du bateau, 4 cendriers sur pied et là impossible de s'asseoir à moins de déplacer des chaises. Je respecte tout à fait les non fumeurs, mais j'aurai aimé qu'au moins le peu de zone fumeur soit aménagé comme tel ! Bref voilà pour mon petit coup de gueule !😠
samedi 25 janvier : journée en mer ce sera repos...
dimanche 26 janvier : Ile Catalina : Nous prenons une excursion costa (ce sera la seule) car nous avons déjà fait l'île l'année dernière et on avait pas trop envie d'y retourner. L'excursion s'intitule : "Hors piste à la découverte des traditions de la République Dominicaine"
RDV à 8H15 au théâtre, nous prenons un bateau (environ 45 min pour rejoindre la Romana), attention beaucoup de personne malade car beaucoup de houle (pour ma part j'avais pris de la nautamine et même pas malade 😎)
Nous montons dans un bus d'une quinzaine de personnes ouvert.
Nous visitons une pépinière, je n'ai pas trop aimé car à vrai dire les plantes et moi ça fait 2 !
Ensuite nous visitons une exploitation de cannes à sucres, c'était très sympa le guide nous explique comment est récolté la cannes à sucre, il nous fait gouter celle ci. Ensuite nous avons le droit à un petit rhum local avec du coca, ou de l'eau.
Ensuite nous partons visiter une usine à cigare, mon mari ce régal car il adore ça. Nous en achetons 2 (Romé et juliette), il me dit que les prix ne sont pas si intéressant que ça. Il est tout de même très content de repartir avec 😉
L'ambiance est bonne, le guide super sympa. Nous remontons à bord vers 14H30.
Lundi 27 janvier : Tortolla : 9h30 --> 20H
Nous accostons au large à 9H30 au lieu de midi car il y a une urgence médicale. Nous décidons de descendre à 13H30 après le repas de midi. La descente se fait en chaloupe, il y a beaucoup de vent et le temps est nuageux (excursion pour Virgin Gorda annulé)
Nous prenons un taxi pour aller à la plage de l'autre coté 16$/ personne aller-retour
Nous ne prenons pas le taxi qui fait visiter l'ile car on l'a déjà fait (20$/pers)
Nous resterons 2H à la plage car après averse et le temps pas vraiment top pour la bronzette !
Mardi 28 janvier : St Marteen (St Martin) : 8H --> 20H
Il y aura 6 bateaux ! c'est la première fois que nous voyons autant de bateaux en même temps (Le méditérranéa, le Riviera, Legend of the seas, disney, Norvegian et princess cruises)
Nous décidons de descendre et d'aller en ville à pied, au pire si c'est trop loin nous rentrerons avec la navette bateau. Le centre ville se fait en 15 min à pied, largement faisable !!! autrement navette 7$ pers aller retour.
Nous nous baladons, faisons les boutiques et quelques achats, puis allons dans un bar, nous nous baignons et bénéficions de la wifi. Effectivement tous les bars offrent la wifi gratuite...
Pour les fumeurs nous achetons 4 cartouches pour 90$, attention ce ne sont pas des françaises, mais bon on s'y fait.
Nous embarquons à bord du Mediterranea le 14 mars aussi je vais suivre ton CR avec intérêt 😉

mercredi 29 janvier : St Kitts : 8h --> 17h30
Nous descendons à 9h30.
Il y a pleins de taxi bus qui vous propose de faire le tour de l'ile. Possibilité de faire des photos avec des petits singes, c'est payant mais je ne sais pas le prix.
Nous fairons le tour de l'ile pour 15$/pers. La durée est d'environ 3h30, attention tout est en anglais.
Nous irons au jardin botanique où nous resterons environ 20 min, il y a de jolies photos à faire.
Nous arrêterons ensuite en bas du fort pour faire une photo, nous n'irons pas car l'entrée est payante.
Ensuite nous irons à un point de vue (15 min). D'un coté nous avons l'océan atlantique et de l'autre la mer des caraïbes, c'est très joli.
Puis arrêt à la plage de 15 min. Notre guide est très sympa, nous avons passé une bonne journée.
Jeudi 30 janvier : Roseau (Dominique) : 8h --> 23h
Nous descendons à 9H00
Je souhaite aller à la plage Champagne, mais aucun taxi ne veut nous y enmener (sauf si nous payons 90$) nous essayons de trouver des autres personnes 😕 Je suis un peu verte mais il faut que je me fasse une idée ce sera pas pour cette fois ci !
Nous prenons donc un taxi qui fait le tour de l'ile. Nous payerons 25$/pers
Nous attendrons jusque 10H30 avant que le taxi soit plein pour partir.(20 pers environ)
Nous irons à la cascade (attention l'entrée est de 5$/pers pas compris dans les 25), la cascade n'a rien d'exceptionnelle (il faut marcher environ 15 min), par contre c'est en pleine forêt, et la végétation y est dense, on se croit limite dans la jungle !!!
Il y a aussi une petite vue sur l'océan, mais vraiment petite... nous y restons environ 50 min
Ensuite nous fairons un arrêt dans une plantation, nous gouterons pleins de fruits, tous très bons les uns que les autres ! rien à voir avec ceux que nous achetons en France ! La dégustation est gratuite, on peut mettre de l'argent dans un pot si nous voulons mais sans aucune obligation.
Direction la plage, c'est une plage de sable noir... Là le chauffeur nous demande jusque quelle heure nous voulons rester... ET là erreur fatale, car personne n'est d'accord... Un groupe d'italien souhaite rester jusque 16h alors que les autres 14H30... Du coup comme nous trouvons aucun terrain d'entente, le chauffeur ramènera le premier groupe à 14H30 au bateau et le second à 16H. A savoir que la plage est à 30 min du bateau...
Nous décidons de partir à 14H30, car 1H à la plage ça suffit ! Nous monttons dans le bus et là il y a une famille d'italien qui négocie pour aller à la plage Champagne (qui est à l'opposé de la plage où nous nous trouvons). Après 5 min de négociation le chauffeur dit ok pour 10$ en plus par pers. et là je suis au ange... je vais enfin aller nager dans des bulles 😇 Au passage nous déposerons quelques personnes au bateau.
c'est une plage de galets. Nous mettons notre masque et tuba. et plongeons dans l'eau. Nous voyons pleins de petites bulles comme si nous nous baignons dans du champagne (d'où le nom), nous verrons de jolis petits poissons. Après 30 min de snorking nous remontons, il y a un petit bar et ce sera un petit rhum pour se remettre des ses émotions😉.
A 17h30 le chauffeur de taxi viens nous rechercher, on arrivera au bateau vers 18H10. Journée très fatiguante, mais superbe on c'est régalé! surtout à Champagne !
Pour info le Costa Magica est accosté de l'autre coté de la ville, beaucoup employés du méditérranéa sont excités car ils vont retrouvés leurs amis.
J'embarque sur le Méditerranéa vendredi 14 février pour la croisière parfum des tropiques, je suis donc ravie de trouver un compte-rendu avant mon départ.
J'ai une question concernant l'arrivée à l'aéroport de Pointe à Pitre.
Lorsque nous quittons l'avion, devons-nous aller récupérer nos bagages avant de prendre les bus pour les transferts au port ou bien Costa se charge-t-il de récupérer nos valises à l'aéroport pour les déposer ensuite devant nos cabines?

tout dépend si vous avez pris les vols par costa ou pas. Si oui, mettez bien vos étiquettes costa dessus la valise et normalement c'est bon !
nous avions que des vols air france (Nice Paris - Paris Point à Pitre) donc nous n'avons même pas eu besoin de récupérer les valises à Paris !
J'avais réservé une excursions sur mersure. Je suis rentrée en contact avec Gauthier de la sté Eco découverte (http://www.ecodecouverte.com). après un échange de mail, il m'a rappelé pour connaitre nos attentes. De là ils nous a proposé 3 jours types, et nous n'avons eu qu'à faire notre choix.
Le temps convenu pour l'excursion est 8H15 à 18H00.
Nous descendons du bateau et attendons 10 petites minutes avant que Gauthier n'arrive. Nous montons dans sa voiture et tout est calculé pour que nous soyons bien. Il nous donne une bouteille d'eau chacun, nous propose son ipad pour consulter nos mails et même son téléphone si nous souhaitons joindre nos enfants ! (petites attentions qui font plaisir 😉). Il laisse aussi à notre disposition des livres sur la Guadeloupe.
Nous partons direction la cascade des écrevisses environ 30 min de voiture. c'est une petite cascade, c'est jolie. Je n'irai pas me baigner car l'eau n'est pas très chaude. Mon mari verra une mangouste ainsi que Gauthier et comme par hasard là seule qui n'a rien vu c'est moi 🤪 !
Nous partons ensuite direction la réserve cousteau ! Arrivé sur la plage nous goutons un fruit de la passion de son jardin... un vrai régal. Puis nous allons ensuite faire du snorking pendant 1h30, Gauthier nous laissera entre les mains de professionnel de plongé et nous attendras sur la plage. c'est une très belle réserve avec pleins de jolis poissons ainsi que de jolis fonds, si vous aimez le snorking c'est surtout à ne pas louper !!
De retour sur terre, Gauthier nous attends et à pris les quelques menus en photo pour que nous choisissions l'endroit où nous souhaitions manger (le repas n'est pas compris dans la prestation)?
Nous décidons donc de manger dans un petit resto perché sur un rocher et mangeons une langouste chacun... comment dire c'était une tuerie !!!! Gauthier nous laisse et nous attends patiement dans sa voiture.
Après le repas nous enfilons à nouveau palme masque et tuba et partons voir les tortues !! et là qu'elle belle surprise de voir celle ci non loin de la plage... mon mari ira même jusqu'à les toucher. Un vrai moment magique !
Après toutes ses émotions nous allons à la plage de Deshaies pour se reposer car mine de rien tout ça est fatiguant et il faut bien se reposer un peu ! 😛
Nous ne resterons pas longtemps à cette jolie plage car grosse averse et je n'en peux plus. Je demande donc à Gauthier de nous ramener au bateau. Il nous propose tout de même si nous voulons aller au jardin botanique car il n'est que 16h et que l'excursion devait durée jusque 18H. Je lui dis que c'est gentil mais je n'en peux plus !! Nous remontons donc sur le bateau vers 17H00.
Nous avons passé une serperbe journée (même si la pluie a été omniprésente) et je tiens vraiment à remercier Gauthier de nous avoir fait visiter un petit bout de cette ile ! Il a été à notre écoute et a répondu à nos attentes. Je le recommande vivement si vous souhaitez passer un bon moment en Guadeloupe.
Nous ne fairons une ballade en ville, vraiment pas grand chose à voir, c'est sale...
ce sera sans regret car beaucoup de personnes qui ont fait le tour de l'ile et nous ont dit que c'était pas top !
Dimanche 2 février : Jour en mer
repos, ateliers pour moi, repos et repos !
Lundi 3 février : Grenade
Nous descendons du bateau et allons en ville pour acheter des épices (bien moins cher que dans les magasins "duty free")
Nous achetons 3 demis noix de coco remplis d'épices pour 10$. et comment dire... en fait il n'y rien dedans (ça je l'ai vu qu'en rentrant à la maison) juste quelques gramme... Je suis verte ! car je voulais pleins d'épices pour faire la cuisine !! un vrai attrappe touristes !
Nous trouvons la ville sale et nous sentons pas vraiment à l'aise. Nous décidons donc de prendre un petit bateau à la sortie du bateau. Nous partons donc pour la Grande anse. (8$/pers aller retour). c'est une grande plage avec transat pour ce qui veulent (15$ les 2 transat). Nous nous mettrons un peu plus loin (plus calme et moins de monde) à l'ombre sous un cocotier. Nous resterons environ 2H30.
Le temps de bateau pour aller sur la plage est d'environ 15 min.
Mardi 4 février : Barbade
8h00 --> 19h30
Nous sortons vers 9h30.
Nous prenons un taxi directions Carlisle Plage (5$/pers)
Arrivé sur la plage nous allons au bar Boatyard. Nous prendrons la formule à 15$/ pers qui donne droit à un transat + 1 boisson + wifi + le taxi pour le retour au bateau.
Nous prendrons les transats le plus près du bar car ils sont en bois et sous un cocotier.
Nous verrons beaucoup de personnel du bateau.
Attention les prix affichés sur la carte sont les pris en $ carribean. Il y a des happy hours à 12het 15H (un punch acheté, un punch) tarif punch 4,5$ américain
Dans l'eau il y a un trampoline, il y a une corde qui permet de sauter du planton. Bref nous nous amusons comme des vrais gamins !!
Nous repartirons sur le bateau vers 16h30. Les navettes qui ramènent sont environ toutes les demi heures
Nous avons pris une excursion via Cosol tours (http://cosol-tours.com)
Un monsieur nous attends à la sortie du hall du port pour 8h20. L'excursione est en anglais.
Le temps que tout le monde arrive, nous partons à 8h40. Nous sommes 10 personnes tous allemands, nous seront les seuls français.
Nous faisons plusieurs arrêts pour faire des photos de différents point panoramique. A chaque arrêts il y a des stands de vente de souvenirs.
Nous faisont un un arrêt sur le bord de la route où il y a un champs de bananes, le chauffeur nous en fera gouter une.
Ensuite nous allons dans une maison, où un buffet nous attends. Sur la table pleins de bonnes choses locales un vrai régal !! Il y a du sucré du salé... à base de poissons de bananes.... Nous auront aussi l'immence joie de gouter du ketchup-banane ! c'est fait à base de banane, c'est jaune mais ça ressemble vraiment au ketchup que nous connaissons. Comme boissons tout est à volonté, Punch, Bières, eau, coca... etc...
Nous partons ensuite direction le village de la soufrière pour prendre un bateau qui nous emmènera sur une plage "privé" (trajet=15min) pour faire du snorking. nous resterons environ 1h. Nous fairons à nouveau une pause boisson (coca, eau, punch, bières)
Nous allons ensuite au volcan, l'odeur de souffre se fait sentir. Possibilité de faire un bain de boue mais vu le monde qu'il y a, personne de notre groupe ne veut y aller. Nous fairons donc la visite guidée en anglais (durée 20 min), elle nous explique le volcan. personnelement je n'ai pas tout compris car l'anglais et moi ça fait 2. Mon mari me traduisait, et ça là où je me dis que j'aurai du écouter en classe🤪
Nous partons ensuite voir une chute (rien de spécial)
Sur le chemin du retour nous nous arrêtons et là gouter ! boisson (toujours les mêmes) et un sandwich... j'en ai encore l'eau à la bouche tellement il était bon ! impossible de connaitre la recette ils n'ont rien voulu nous dire 🙁
Nous arrivons au bateau à 15H30... et là repos car après cette longue journée nous le méritons bien !
Par contre les routes sont sinueuses... donc attention si vous êtes malade en voiture !
cela nous aura coûté 65$ et sincèrement ça les mérites ! très bonne journée !

We’re back from this cruise.
Boarding in Dunkirk: The doors opened around 12 PM. Since we were a bit early, I asked if my husband, who uses a walker, could wait inside instead of outside. I left him with the two suitcases and our two backpacks in the small hall while I parked the car in the reserved CFC parking lot for 10 € per day.
The shuttle that was supposed to take people from the parking lot to the model pavilion was supposed to arrive in 5 minutes, but after 15 minutes, nothing. After waiting 15 minutes, I saw a man walking and asked if I could follow him. In 15 minutes, we arrived, and still no sign of the shuttle—it must have passed us. Arrived at the model pavilion.
My husband had already checked in the suitcases with the help of a CFC staff member. The remaining formalities were completed quickly. We were on board by 12:15 PM. Headed to the buffet on deck 11 and waited in a lounge to access our cabin.
At 2 PM, we discovered our balcony cabin on deck 9 at the rear: spacious with a large balcony compared to MSC/COSTA.
Since we were at the rear, cabin 9202, there was always an issue with elevator number 4: "priority."
Elevator number 2 stops at deck 10... and elevator number 3 was often out of order, leaving only number 1 for those with mobility issues to reach the buffet, especially for people who struggle with stairs. Note: only one child on board and lots of "gray hair."
DAY 2: At sea. Lots of activities offered.
Day 3: GOTHENBURG (Sweden). Sunny, 19°C at 11 AM.
Excursion booked with CFC: Gothenburg and Haga for all.
Interesting visit with a great guide. The HAGA district, in our opinion, is full of cobblestones and nothing special, not suitable for people using a cane or wheelchair. Elevator number 3 was out of order again.
Day 4: Copenhagen. 15°C in the morning, showers in the afternoon.
We didn’t book an excursion since we’d already stopped here with CFC in 2025, and based on advice from this forum, we took the hop-on/hop-off bus right in front of the ship. I still went to see the Little Mermaid again.
No TV, but the elevator was fixed.
DAY 5: At sea. Still no TV.
DAY 6: GDANSK (Poland). 15°C, rain all day.
There’s a shuttle to get to the city center.
We took the excursion: Panorama of Gdansk.
The guide left us at the entrance of the city center for 45 minutes, telling us what to visit. Meet-up for the rest of the tour at 3 PM. The bus left at 3:15 PM to cover 10 km to see St. Mary’s Cathedral. We arrived at 4:16 PM... The guide said there are often traffic jams in that direction. We had 10 minutes on site before heading to see the lighthouse and the Westerplatte monument, where we also had 10 minutes.
Many of us wondered why we didn’t do the tour in the opposite direction since they knew there would be traffic...
I went to reception to complain about the organization. The staff member read me the program: we were supposed to start with the lighthouse, then go to the cathedral and stay for 30 minutes before heading to the center of Gdansk for a short guided walk with some free time to buy souvenirs, etc.
The guide did the complete opposite of what was planned and didn’t even give us a guided tour—just dropped us off in the city...
DAY 7: Bornholm Island (Denmark). 14°C, a few sunny spells.
We saw in the excursions that there was a walking tour of RØNNE. So, like many others, we explored on our own. There was a small orchestra welcoming us at the port and two people with city maps. We took the shuttle to leave the port—it ran every 15 minutes. The tourist office was next to the "shuttle bus." A pleasant visit at our own pace.
DAY 8: KIEL (Germany). 18–23°C, nice weather.
We took the "Kiel for all" excursion. Great guide and interesting visits.
The port is in the city, and in 10 minutes, we were in the city center by following a blue line on the ground from the port. Elevator 3 was stuck again... and the TV was back.
DAY 9: At sea. Elevator 3 works.
DAY 10: At sea. Elevator 3 is out of order again...
DAY 11: Disembarkation in Dunkirk.
Cabins had to be vacated by 7:30 AM. Buffet open until 9 AM.
Elevator number 1 was "reserved," leaving only number 2, which doesn’t go up to deck 11... a problem for people with mobility issues who had to cross the entire deck 11 and try to use one of the four working elevators at the front, which were crowded.
My opinion: Interesting stops.
The onboard staff were always welcoming, smiling, and mostly French-speaking.
Evening shows were better than in March/April 2025—better singers, dancers, and presenters, and the costumes were improved.
I liked the "magician" shows less.
There were three onboard lectures by a very cultured person, but they went off-topic and were too historical for my taste. I didn’t attend the other two; my husband went to the second but not the third.
For this cruise, there was a bridge theme, but we’re not players or interested.
We didn’t take a drink package on board—water, coffee, tea, and herbal teas were available.
We had a water leak in our cabin the night before disembarkation. We reported it, and after the technical staff came (with a translator who didn’t speak English), we were asked to leave the cabin for a while for repairs. We went to a lounge, and after 1.5 hours, I checked in at reception. The repair took longer than expected... we had to change cabins... not ideal the night before disembarkation. No balcony cabins were available, so we got an ocean-view cabin, 6075, with a bathtub (impossible for both of us to use). We packed our suitcases, took a shower in our cabin, and moved to the new one. Noise from chairs until 12:30 AM because the cabin was under a lounge, and constant ventilation noise in the hallway... sleep was hard to come by.
Disembarkation: Well organized. We were helped with transporting the two suitcases and bags to the waiting room while I took the shuttle to get the car.

After a lot of hesitation between different cruise lines (Explora, Oceania, YC, HAL, NCL) and several destinations like Norway, Ireland, and Iceland,
I finally chose NCL’s Star for Iceland.
I had already looked at this itinerary when I went to Scotland in April with CFC, but it was really expensive.
You should know that CFC often offers last-minute deals 45 days before departure (the point when you can no longer cancel or modify).
So, I got a great opportunity and grabbed it.

We’re taking an MSC cruise in May, and after the Cinque Terre, we’ll be stopping in Naples. We’d like to know if it’s possible to walk out of the port quickly and reach a nice area of Naples on foot (we’re two older people). While we’re at it, I’ll ask the same question for Palermo, since we’ll be there the next day. Thanks for your replies.

I’m staying in a suite on the Pacifica in October and I can’t find any details about the suite benefits beyond the elite restaurant, the butler, and the espresso machine.
What about breakfast and meals served free in the cabin, and the spa?
Costa’s been cutting back on perks for Gold members, and it seems like suites are next.

The boat arrives in Reykjavik on Tuesday, August 4th at 8 AM, and I’d like to book a day trip like the Golden Circle or Secret Lagoon… The sites like GetYourGuide and others list departures at 8 AM. If you’ve used these sites with the MSC Preziosa, could you let me know how to go about it?

It’s with immense sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of our friend Nathalie (nadu). Many of us knew her through this forum, which she loved so much. She enjoyed reading your travel stories, joining discussions, sharing her cruise reviews, and offering valuable advice—always with kindness, gentleness, and discretion.
For me, Nathalie was so much more than just a cruise enthusiast. She was a friend, a deeply kind person who was always there to listen, despite the many health challenges she faced with tremendous courage. We corresponded regularly, and sometimes we had the chance to visit each other’s homes or attend the cruise show together with our respective husbands.
We shared a common dream: when we both retired, we had planned to finally go on a cruise together. Life had other plans, and that trip will forever remain a journey we never had the chance to take. That thought weighs heavily on my heart today.
I’ll remember her as a gentle, generous woman who was always ready to help others. Her presence on this forum will leave a huge void, just as her friendship has in my life.
I send my sincerest thoughts to her husband, her family, and all those who had the chance to know her.
Fair winds, Nathalie. I like to think you’re now sailing on an infinitely calm sea, under an eternally blue sky. You’ll remain in our thoughts and hearts every time we talk about cruises or set off on a new journey.

We’d like to visit the Stonehenge site.
Is it possible to get there on our own (my husband is a wheelchair user), since the MSC excursion to Salisbury is priced at 127 € per person?
There’s also a stop in Rotterdam, and it seems there’s a "miniature village to visit" nearby. Has anyone here been there, and if so, how did you get there?

hi there, a group of friends and I are going on a cruise at the end of June with CFC in Norway. I’d love to get some info on the different stops we’ll be making. Most of them are one-day stops (from around 10 AM to 8 PM on average). Here are the stops: Andalsnes, Trondheim, Honningsvåg, Alta, Hellesylt, Sandane, Austefjorden.

We’ll be sailing on the Renaissance with CFC to southern Norway from July 4 to 11, 2026, departing from Dunkirk (the cruise was booked through "Planète Croisière").
When entering some personal details or pre-selecting options on the CFC website, I’m wondering about the "optional" categories for drinks and WiFi.
I’m actually a bit surprised by these extra charges, as we weren’t used to them on other cruises (Australis in Patagonia; Hurtigruten’s Coastal Express in Norway and Alaska; Rivages du Monde in the Arctic or on the Douro River; a Nile river cruise in Egypt), where we sometimes had access to basic drinks at meals and free WiFi when near land.
Anyway, for those who’ve already taken a CFC cruise on the Renaissance, could you share some advice? Specifically about the most basic drink package, called "Fraîcheur" (238 € for two), which doesn’t seem to be described anywhere. The "Premium" package seems excessive (490 € for two for the week) for light drinkers.
As for WiFi, it’s 10 € per day per person. While I find that price acceptable for parking our car in Dunkirk, it feels overpriced here (especially since it was free on the Nordlys "Coastal Express" just 3 or 4 years ago).
So, I’d love to hear from experienced cruisers who’ve been on this ship!

We’re already familiar with the Yacht Clubs on the Splendida, Fantasia, Preziosa, and Divina series.
We weren’t as keen on the one on the Seashore—we found it too big.

The uniqueness of the promenade cabins appeals to us, but could anyone give us some insights on the following points:
- Is the glass door sufficiently tinted to prevent outsiders from seeing into the cabin?
- Is the soundproofing good enough to block out conversations on the promenade deck?

My husband, our two teens, and I are going on a cruise on the COSTA Esmeralda at the beginning of July. We’re thinking of exploring the ports on our own. Do any of you have recent experiences or tips to share? Are there shuttles between the port and the city center? Are they free? Looking forward to hearing from you.
As promised, here’s my review of the cruise I took from the 5th to the 19th on the MSC Virtuosa.
As you know, I had initially booked a cruise with Mein Schiff departing from Dubai (from Dubai to Cape Town). It was a 22-day cruise. Due to the issues in the Persian Gulf, my cruise was canceled by Mein Schiff.
So, we started looking for a Plan B because we really wanted to go. Especially my wife, who had just had a minor procedure and needed some rest. Since she had already taken time off, she was determined to travel. However, we were looking for an affordable Plan B since we weren’t sure when Mein Schiff or the airline would reimburse us.
While browsing online, I found a 15-day cruise departing from Pointe-à-Pitre (including flights, transfers, the cruise, and drinks) for a price of 1,200 € in a Fantastica balcony cabin. We thought, *Why not?*
I should mention that I’m not usually a big fan of MSC. My last experience with them was post-Covid (I took two cruises, one in 2021 and another in 2022), and it was honestly a disaster. We didn’t want to repeat that, but after talking to Catherine, who told me she was very happy with a short Christmas cruise, we decided to give it a try.
I have to say, I was left speechless. Honestly, the cruise was absolutely perfect. There’s nothing to complain about (or just a few minor details). In terms of service and food, I felt like I was on a premium cruise line. I’d even say MSC has nothing to envy from some of those companies. While premium lines like Holland, Celebrity, and Royal are cutting back on services, I think MSC has made huge improvements. Seriously, I wasn’t expecting this at all. You’ll see what I mean as we chat more.
I won’t do a full review like I usually do because there weren’t many stops:
1. We boarded in Pointe-à-Pitre
2. We stopped in Saint-Martin
3. Then it was a direct crossing to the Azores...
This cruise was really about relaxing, even if it’s not the kind of trip we usually take.
First off, I’m not a big fan of "flight and cruise" packages. I asked if we could leave two days early, but they said it wasn’t possible. We had to take the flight, then the bus, and board the ship directly.
It’s not really my thing, but given the price we paid and since we really wanted to relax, we thought, *Why not?*
Here’s the itinerary:
Boarding in Pointe-à-Pitre
Saint-Martin
Five days at sea
The Azores
Four days at sea
Hamburg
One day at sea
Le Havre
But as I mentioned, it wasn’t about the itinerary. It was really about taking a break and unwinding. Honestly, I came back thrilled.
We’re stopping over in Rovinj this coming May, and since we’ve already visited the main sights (port, church, etc.), is there a walk we can do on our own—no boat needed—that would fill a morning?

A few months ago, CFC put the EN VOGUE experience on sale, departing from Dunkirk.
I booked this package to test the boat and onboard services for myself.
I’d read a lot of reviews mentioning numerous issues on board, so I wanted to see for myself what it was really like…
Okay, I’ll stop rambling…
The package included boarding at 6 PM on Friday, dinner, a show, an overnight stay, and breakfast.
We chose an interior cabin for this experience—since the boat wasn’t leaving the dock, we didn’t see the point in paying more… All in all, it cost 130 € per person.
My mom joined us; she got the same cabin for 130 € with no single occupancy supplement.
We’d checked in online to board faster.
We took the train to DUNKIRK, then a taxi to the shuttle pavilion—7 € for the ride.
When we arrived at the pavilion, we were told to wait because there was a connection issue with check-in. Great start…
After about ten minutes, we were finally allowed to proceed.
At the counter, they said they didn’t have our cabin cards and no record of our check-in… Very odd.
With no solution, they put us on the bus and said we’d sort it out at reception. Perfect.
We went through security, and they confiscated our water bottles—never seen that before! Then they said my mom had a corkscrew in her bag, so they searched it… but there was no corkscrew. Total amateur hour… They eventually dropped it.
We got on the bus for a ten-minute ride…
We boarded the ship with a crew member and headed to reception.
Turns out, we weren’t the only ones in this situation.
The nightmare began… Only two staff members were handling all the issues, and everything seemed complicated.
They told my mom her cabin had been given to someone else 😲.
That was the last straw…
It took forever—they had to redo the entire check-in.
Finally, they told my mom her cabin was good to go; they’d mixed her up with someone else… After a solid half-hour, we could finally head to our cabin.
I’m determined to test everything: the pool, jacuzzi, show, restaurant, spa, etc…
