Voilà depuis presque 1 an que j'y pense. Mais j'ai de plus en plus l'envie de tout quitter, de tout lâcher, de prendre mon courage à deux mains et de partir.
Je suis actuellement en terminale littéraire et j'ai 18 ans. Tout le monde me met la pression pour mon orientation, tout ce qui est administratif bla bla, tout ça m'a toujours gavé, et c'est de pire en pire. Et, plus j'y réfléchie, plus je mûris dans ma tête un projet un peu cinglé. D'ailleurs vous allez vite me prendre pour un petit rêveur naïf ou autre gamin flemmard qui ne sais pas quoi faire de sa vie et qui connais les dialogue de into the wild sur le bout des doigts, mais il n'en est rien.
J'aurais du mal à vous raconter dans les détails l'ampleur de mon projet tant c'est une chose personnelle, mais il s'agit plus d'une quête de soi que d'une quête touristique ;) En fait, je suis prêt à ne jamais revenir si il le faut. Je suis répugné à l'idée de m'installer ici, de vivre à l'occidentale, de trouver un boulot, fonder une famille...etc.
Je veux vivre pour moi, vivre ma vie, car je suis arrivé enfin à me rendre compte que l'on en avait qu'une, et je n'ai nulle envie de la sacrifier à la "collectivité", qui d'ailleurs ne conçois même pas mon existence. Voilà en gros les raisons principales qui me poussent à partir.
Celles qui m'attirent, sont le gout du voyage, de la découverte du monde, des autres mais principalement de soi. Je pars pour apprendre, pas pour enseigner.
Pour ce qui est de mon projet concret, je pense passer mon BAC, le permis, me réserver un an (plus ou moins) afin de travailler n'importe ou, mais dans le but de gagner un peu de sous quand même ( car je ne suis pas fou et je compte bien partir avec un peu d'argent), et surtout pour affiner mon projet de son point de vue philosophique, pratique et matériel. Ensuite, enfin, je compte partir. Je ne veux pas de but, ni de destination, car j'ai envie d'improviser, de me heurter à d'autres contraintes que celles sociales, de dessiner mon trajet d'après les rencontres..etc.
Seulement voilà, je requiers votre aide et votre expérience car après réflexions, il y a des zones d'ombre que je n'arrive à éclairer:
- Je pense partir en voiture, ou camionnette, mais je pense que l'usage d'un tel véhicule me bloquera dans certaine circonstances (essence, problème technique, douane et passage frontalier, ...etc), bien que me procurant un abris en cas extrême pour dormir ou m'abriter.
- Tout ce qui est paperasse, administration, ...etc. Est-il possible de partir comme ça, du jour au lendemain, sans visa ni quoi que ce soi?
- La survie dans la nature, oui, ça c'est un réelle problème. J'y serais forcément confronté si je pars un peu à l'improviste. La faim, le froid, bref les conditions naturelles et physiques sont un point qui m'inquiète beaucoup.
- Ce point là est peut être ridicule, mais il est source d’inquiétude. En effet, je n'ai jamais vraiment voyagé, et je suis malgré moi conditionné par le mode de vie à l'occidentale. Il s'agit de la confiance à accorder aux gens que je pourrais rencontrer. On a beau dire, dans nos nations civilisées, il ne fait pas bon de parler à certaine personne, et traîner tard la nuit dans une grande ville peut nous amener à faire de mauvaise rencontre. Alors qu'en est-il du reste du monde? Des pays dans lesquels existent de réels conflits ou problème (de pauvreté par exemple), mais qui pourtant sont si riches en beauté.
Voilà, j'aimerais beaucoup que vous m'éclaireriez sur mon projet. Comprenez bien que si tout cela parait naïf, c'est que peut être ça l'est, car j'ai toujours eu le confort nécessaire, et je n'ai jamais vraiment voyager, mais seulement rêvé de le faire.

Antonin, ton projet n'est pas plus fou qu'un autre, mais tu es encore très jeune pour décider du reste de ta vie, et surtout, tu es en phase "ras le bol" ce qui est normal à ton âge. Je te conseillerais de prendre une année sabatique après le bac (cela se fait beaucoup dans les pays anglo-saxon), prends ton sac, parcours le monde, fais de l'humanitaire, ou autre, et à la fin de cette année, tu auras muri et tu verras quel sera ton état d'esprit, et sera plus à même de prendre les bones décisions pour toi. Ne jette pas trop vite l'eau du bain avec le bébé qui est dedans !

devenir nomade .. ceci est tès significatif dans la mesure où cette "sedentarisation civilisationnelle à l'occidentale " , ne répond plus aux aspirations de nombreux qui voudraient aller ailleurs , s'éloigner de tout...
et épouser un autre mode de vie ...
pour celà il faudrait avoir un minimum d'outils permettant une certaine autonomie de revenus : le bac, un permis de conduire, un travail manuel acquis et indépendant..
en fait il s'agit de changer de rythme de vie , loin de cette spatiotemporalité à la vitesse éffrenée...
une consolation il y a encore des pays où la simplicité de vie serait harmonieuse, sans faire partie de cet espace d'hyperconsommation de gens assoiffés de stabilité et de sérénité !!

Mes fils tenaient ce discours au même age, comme une grosse part des ados, 6 ans et 4 ans plus tard , ils sont "tanguis" au chaud et ont terminé la phase Bac, permis, et ne sont pas pressés d'entamer la phase "travailler" ni ""affiner mon (leur) projet de son point de vue philosophique, pratique et matériel"".!

il y a 20 ans, ma fille était au même point que toi.
Nous avons convenus ensemble, bac et permis.
Après le bac, elle a passé 10 mois à bourlinguer. Il y a 20 ans, pas de tel portable, et je suis plusieurs fois resté sans nouvelle trop longtemps pour une maman, mais c'était le prix à payer pour qu'elle réalise ses envies.
Elle a eu la chance d'avoir sa mamie qui lui a donné en avance sur héritage une petite somme, mais elle a bossé, perfectionner l'anglais, mais aussi elle en a bavé, et certains pays d'amérique du sud ou d'asie l'ont beaucoup interpellé. Bref, tout son petit monde a été mis sans dessus dessous. Retour plus tot qu'elle ne l'avait prévue, 2 mois d'été à bosser sur nos plages atlantiques. Beaucoup de mal à racrocher à la vie "chiante". Septembre un projet BTS en alternance, 2 ans OK. Redépart pour 8 mois, galére, retour avec des amibes. soins guérison, 2 ans fac et boulot. Mais 10 ans, travail en interim et 2 à 3 mois de voyage. Aujourd'hui à 38 ans, maman d'une petite fille de 7 ans, elle voyage toujours dés qu'elle peut avec sa pitchoune. Elle a trouvé un équilibre entre boulot (interessant) enfant, et voyages. Elle a grandit de voir ailleurs, mais ce fut long pour moi. ce que je veux te dire, c'est que je crois que chacun trouve sa voie, mais ca peut être long, et laisser des traces.

Ouwaoh 🙂 ! Merci à tous pour vos réponses. Chantal ton témoignage m'a touché crois moi. Mais j'ai sans doute oublié de préciser que je suis déterminé.
Je sais, cela ne parait pas vraiment crédible venant d'un ado de 18ans, et pourtant, je suis prêt je le sais (dans la tête et dans le coeur). Tout ça va avec des valeurs..etc. Il ne s'agit pas seulement de voyager (Mais ça vous l'avez compris).
Aller, petite confidence, je suis aller jusqu'à me tatouer, un petit truc discret, pour moi, plein de symbolisme. Ca parait encore plus niais mais pour moi le fait d'aller me faire tatouer sans en parler à qui que ce soit, même les plus intimes, c'est déjà faire un premier pas dans ce projet, m'y impliquer. (Vous savez, un soir je suis aller tellement loin dans la reflexion que j'en ai conclus que même la mort serait acceptable si elle arrivait après mon départ.🤪 Bon au final j'ai trouvé ça stupide, mais c'est pour dire !)
J'espère ne jamais faire mon Tanguy ou revenir la queue entre les jambe (quoique je serais heureux de ne pas l'avoir perdu en route....excusez cette blague vraiment vaseuse) et marqué plus que jamais, sans jamais retrouver le courage de recommencer quelque chose d'autre.
Mais je prendrais le risque, ça oui c'est sûr. Mais peut être effectivement qu'il est trop tôt pour vous poser les questions de mon premier commentaire lier directement au voyage.
Alors j'espère que vous serez toujours là dans 1ans 😉.
PS:Je crains qu'il ne soit de plus en plus dur de partir ainsi malheureusement, à l'aventure, sans persepective de retour....nottament avec cette mondialisation et toutes ces lois de sédentarisation. c'est une de mes plus grande crainte en réalité...ou bien c'est justement ce qui me pousse je ne sais pas encore.

En effet, si tu ressent ce besoin, prend un ou deux ans sabbatique pour voir le monde. Cela dit, je pense qu'il est aussi important de penser à l'après. Et de réfléchir à une formation qui te permettra de voyager...
Etant donné que j'avais le même besoin de liberté, la même soif de découvrte d'autres cultures et d'autres rencontres et que j'avais aucune envie de rentrer dans le moule du bon travailleur/con-sommateur je suis parti à ton âge pour des lointains voyages.
Maintenant je vis dans un pays que j'aime beaucoup (Madagascar), j'ai 54 ans et j'ai toujours fait ce que j'avais envie sans faire trop de concessions, je vis de ma Passion de toujours=les voyages.
Aucun regret!!!

J'ai pour ma part 21 ans et je fais, comme toi parti de ces jeunes qui ont soif d'aventure et ral le bol de cette société de consomation, et ce depuis que j'ai 18 ans, et depuis rien a avancé... snif !
Enfin ca dépend... ma pensé et ma vision des choses ont évolué. Je vais te raconter ma petite histoire...
Comme je te l'ai dit tout a commencé lorsque j'avais 18 ans. Je venais d'entrer en fac de bio (j'y suis toujours d'ailleurs) dans le but de faire chercheur dans une réserve africaine ou encore dans une foret tropicale, enfait meme si je n'avais pas encore ciblé mes envies, j'avais inconsciement une folle envie de découvrir le monde. Jusqu'au jour ou je suis tombé sur un reportage qui parlait de mike horn le celebre aventurier qui se lancait des défits fous: faire le tour du monde en suivant la ligne de l'équateur, traverser le pole nord à contre vent! bref c'est à ce moment que mon objectif est né: voyager comme bon me semble!!!
Aussitot j'ai fait part de mon rêve à mes proches et mes amis! Bien entendu il y avait des voix pour et d'autres contre, c'est la vie! Puis je me suis lancé à l'aveuglette dans des projets de tour du monde, j'ai commencé à faire des dossiers de sponsoring, des itinéraires et tout ca sans aucune logique et finalement sans aucun but!!! Ducoup je me suis mis à chercher des buts qui enfait n'était pas les miens: humanitaire, écologie... Attention, j'admire énormément le travail des écologistes et des humanitaires mais ce n'était pas la raison pour laquelle j'avais envie de voyager. Un jour je discutais avec mon frangin du but et je lui ai dit le fond de ma pensée, que la vie "boulot, métro, dodo" me répugnait et il m'a tout simplement répondu: "mais il y a des gens qui donnerais n'importe quoi pour avoir cette vie". Là "The choc" parce qu'il avait raison. C'est a ce moment là que je me suis mis à réfléchir et je continue toujours... Je pense que l'homme a de nature une répulsion vis à vis de la monotonie et c'est un élément de réponse il me semble. Vois tu je suis originaire de l'algérie et je connais pas mal de personnes qui voulais vivre en france et une fois qu'ils y sont parvenus et bien ils souhaitent repartir en algérie... pour retrouver leurs familles. Peut etre que je me trompe mais je pense que l'uniformité est une des causes du mal etre de notre société et c'est pourquoi c'est souvent des jeunes comme nous qui ressentons ce besoin de partir et tout lacher, parce qu'on voit nos ainés vivre dans un monde ou ils ne sont pas forcement heureux... Mais sans ses gens qui "font tourner le systeme" comment serais le monde? Et nous, nous allons à leurs yeux nous promener pendant qu'eux travail? Tu vois ce sont de bonnes questions qui finalement n'ont pas de réponse type, il faut que tu trouve une réponse "personnalisée" avec humilité, en respectant les choix de chacun.
L'autre aspect est celui de l'argent. Voyager toute sa vie est en contradiction avec le fait d'avoir un revenu à moins de trouver un métier qui te permet de voyager mais la c'est un autre sujet car si tu es comme moi je ne pense pas que ce soit ce que tu veuilles. Après tu peut vivre en faisant des petits boulots par ci par là mais c'est pas certain du tout. Déja partir avec un capital de départ c'est la meilleur chose à faire bon après je ne te conseil pas du tout la survie parce que c'est ce que je voulais également en regardant man vs wild mais en ne sachant pas attraper un lapin il a fallu me rendre à l'évidence. Enfait quel que soit la "formule" que tu choisiras il y aura toujours une part d'incertitude, donc choisi la meilleur solution!!!
Pour finir je dirais que tout est relatif et je te conseil de prendre beaucoup de recul et surtout surtout surtout trouver une réponse à toute ces questions: but, famille et proche, argent et d'autres questions viendront par la suite. Retient ceci: quand on entreprend un projet quel qu'il soit, on a une vision idéaliste du futur. Donc la solution est d'etre le plus objectif possible. Pour ma part c'est ce que je m'éfforce de faire, l'envie de voyager toute ma vie ne ma pas quitter depuis 3 ans mais je prend mon temps pour répondre à mes questions de facon la plus objective possible, pendant ce temps je me renseigne, je lis et je continue mes études jusqu'au jour ou ca sera le moment d'y aller!! Et finalement crois moi qu'en répondant simplement à des questions, on avance plus vite qu'on pourrait le croire!!!
Je rejoindrais le discours d'Acer 😉 mais je rajouterais que dans ton cas quelques précautions s'imposent: les vaccins, un billet open , une assurance; ou si tu pars en voiture, le choix d' un véhicule avec surtout de la mécanique et peut d'électronique...mais ça peut aussi se faire à vélo ... garder régulièrement le contact avec famille et amis (internet), te renseigner sur tes destinations avant de mettre les pieds dans les pays (il y a parfois des choses qui ne s'inventent pas, une fois les pieds dans le plat 😇 ça peut concerner l'environnement , faune et flor qui comportent parfois des inconvénients sinon des dangers, certaines coutumes à respecter, mais aussi les événements politiques du moment etc..) du côté de la confiance je dirais que l'on acquière en voyageant un genre de sixième sens contre les douteux et pour les bons plans ... mais il s'agit surtout d'être ouvert tout en ayant une certaine réserve...cependant, dans tous les cas il sera nécessaire d'écouter ton instinct et d'être parfois capable de sauter du train...
Après, ce sont tes expériences qui forgeront tes réflexes, ton intelligence du voyage, ton regard et ta débrouillardise... il te sera ainsi de plus en plus facile de jouer l'improviste sans trop te charger d'un fardeau de questionnements inutiles...

salut , moi aussi j'aimerais je voudrais vivre en nomade plus tard car la j'ai juste 14 ans et je reve deja de liberter . etre sédentaire c'est pas pour moi . Bref je te comprend tellement . Je veux juste te dire que se n'est vraiment pas naif . Je sais pas vraiment t'aider mais je t'encourage meme si t es un peu jeune (moins que moi ) . Au pire attend une coupe d 'Année et vie ta vie en nomade si sa te tente encore évidamment .

I’m a teacher in Creuse, working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m starting a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of the journal will focus on opening up to the world, diversity, travel, countries, culture...
I’m launching a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a little postcard (from France or anywhere in the world!) to take us on a journey and help us discover new places, countries, and horizons—much more fun and exciting than a regular geography textbook! One section of our journal could be called "We received mail from " and would be an opportunity to research that location and share what we learn with our readers (a super enriching activity in class).
The project starts in September 2025 but has no real end date, as this journal and world discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in my ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! (The kids will find them when they return.)
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow traveler friends. Make us dream, take us on a journey!!!

I just discovered a great show on Arte.
It's called "7 en route": seven young European journalists travel around Europe in a fully converted bus, making reports on every city they visit. It's amazing! 🙂
Yesterday, for example, they were in Rome, Italy, and the reports included things like the world's smallest restaurant—a super romantic spot for two. There was also a report on the king of paparazzi in Italy.
They have to pick topics that let us discover the little quirks of each country. And at the end of each episode, we get to see the finished report.
It's such a great show, mixing journalism, travel, and discovery—basically, a must-watch!

I left my heart’s country eight days ago and returned to my adopted one—or was it the other way around? Scotland-Morvan, Morvan-Scotland, I’m not quite sure anymore.
After a quarter without dragging my slippers around here, even though I’d loudly declared I had no interest left in this site, here I am again!
My imagination never stays fallow for long. Just enough time for my inner land to rest. It gets overgrown with fresh nettles, the kind you can pick without getting stung. Then, it’s time to till the fragrant earth and let the story grow.
I hesitated over where to set this story.
Maybe the Highlands, maybe the Hebrides, maybe the Orkney Islands, maybe the Shetland Islands. All of Scotland is myth—easy to embroider.
But in the end, no. I’d almost be too afraid to bare my soul.
The story will take place at home. Simple, practical.

This morning, I was up well before dawn, feeling a bit grumpy, but nothing a bowl of coffee won’t fix. I love my bowl, and no one dares take it. It’s porcelain, edged with intertwined blue flowers. On the bottom, it says "Revol." The factory has existed long before the Revolution. It was my great-grandmother’s bowl. She drank roasted barley from it during the war, then her Leroux chicory.
Last year, a little guy dropped it. My bowl broke into three pieces. A black anger vibrated deep inside me. The little boy was so upset, on the verge of tears. How could I scold him!
I picked up the three pieces and took Little Boy in my arms. His hair smelled of the light, sweet sweat of toddlers. A gentle hug that healed—his budding sorrow and my anger—everything vanished, and time carried on.
Today, my bowl is even prettier. Man fixed it using the traditional kintsugi technique, except he didn’t use gold powder or lacquer but superglue, and he delicately painted the cracks with woad blue. And my bowl is even more beautiful now.
I’m lingering, I can tell—it’s just that a story wraps itself in life, and life can’t be told in the snap of a finger. Life is long. Like in architecture, you start with a rough sketch, called a "sous-cul" (the initial pencil drawing), then you make a tracing, which is the work itself, the one you later carefully roll up in a wooden tube.
Life is like that: you erase, you start over, you use the nub of the pencil until it’s tiny, but you keep going—dreaming, loving.

On this forum, we talk a lot about trekking in the Himalayas, but I’d love to share another side of Nepal: its spiritual, cultural, and religious atmosphere, especially in Kathmandu.
Nepal, much like Tibet and Bhutan, is deeply connected to the Himalayas—the ultimate sacred mountain range. This small country exudes a calming vibe, shaped by a strong spiritual dimension. What I loved most was the unique sensory experience you get there. Walking around temples and tantric monasteries, a distinct scent fills the air—aromatic plants used for ritual fumigation. Locals mainly burn Himalayan juniper, cedar, sandalwood, and other local essences. This fragrant smoke is a way to purify the space and reach the deities, and you’re constantly enveloped in these aromas.
Another striking aspect is the sound. As soon as you step outside, you hear bells ringing in front of temples. People ring them three times before praying to announce their presence to the deities. Nepal is also the birthplace of singing bowls and sound meditation practices. In Kathmandu, you can easily find meditation sessions or "sound baths."
The spiritual dimension is everywhere: a Hindu sadhu practicing asceticism, a lama in deep red robes with his mala, turning a prayer wheel while murmuring "Om mani padme hum." Newar Buddhism, Tantrism, and Hinduism coexist harmoniously in daily life.

I just installed the Maps.Me app on my phone. I only recently found out about this app. I’m traveling in 2 weeks and a few days, and I’m a bit stuck on how to use it.

I just couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-language travel forums—their format and way of doing things never appealed to me as much. I really hope that VF’s structure, categories, and interface won’t change too much despite the handover, because I’m very attached to them. I’m planning a 3-week trip to Japan in May with Voyage Privé. The package includes a 5 GB eSIM, but my phone isn’t new enough to support it. VP told me I could buy a SIM card when I arrive at the airport.
Sure enough, I’ve seen online that this is possible with different providers.
I only need it for checking routes, looking up addresses, train schedules, etc.—basically using Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and similar apps. No heavy downloads or major internet use. All hotels should provide free Wi-Fi for that, right?
Has anyone got any tips for me on this? What have you tried, and how much did it cost?

I wanted to share a really unpleasant experience from our last trip booked with Promoséjours and organized by FTI.
We booked an 8-day/7-night stay in Egypt, from June 8 to 15.
The flight initially scheduled was changed a week before departure to take off at 10 PM from Paris CDG.
In the end, it took off with a 1-hour delay and included an unmentioned stopover in Marsa Alam.
We landed in Hurghada at 4 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM.
So, we spent our first night on the plane.
For the return trip, surprise—the flight was moved up. We left the hotel at 10:30 PM on Friday the 14th to take off at 2 AM and land at 7 AM at Paris CDG.
So, we spent our last night on the plane too.
After sending a complaint letter to Promoséjours / FTI, they replied that the first and last days can be dedicated to transport (which I already knew) and that no matter how many nights you book, you’re not guaranteed to spend them in the hotel—it could just as well be on the plane.
I’m really questioning this.
Isn’t there a law that protects customers in cases like this?
Because when I do the math, the first and part of the second day were spent on transport, same for the second-to-last and last day. And I paid for 7 nights for a stay that only lasted 5.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to them—thanks to their two sleepless nights in transit, I’m coming back even more exhausted from a trip that was supposed to be restful!
I also want to warn anyone booking through this agency about visas for Egypt.
At booking, they told me the visa was included in the price, then they sent me an email saying I’d have to pay for it on-site at 25 €.
Once there, we were directed to a special line for FTI customers, and guess what? They charged us 30 €!
Basically, they’re great at making sure you *enjoy* your vacation—mostly by enjoying your wallet!
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and won their case, I’m all ears.

I’m heading to Thailand for two months.
So I thought I’d get a Thai SIM card to use Google Maps for getting around cities, mostly.
Here’s my question: will this SIM affect my apps? Or will they work the same as with my Orange SIM?
Is there any setup I need to do, or can I just pop in the Thai SIM?
I’d also like to switch back to my Orange SIM now and then while I’m in Thailand—on the same phone. Will I need to reset the phone, or will it reconnect without any issues?

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globe-trotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m launching a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of this journal will focus on opening up to the world, embracing differences, travel, global cultures, and more.
I’m putting out a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a postcard (from France or anywhere in the world)! The goal is to help us "travel" and discover new places, countries, and horizons in a way that’s much more fun and exciting than a geography textbook. One section of our journal could be called "We received a letter from ," where we’d research the location and share what we learn with our readers—a really enriching activity for the classroom.
The project starts in September 2025 but doesn’t have a strict end date, since this journal and world-discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in the ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! The kids will find them when they return.
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible, and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow travelers. Help us dream and explore!

Here’s the thing: during our trip there in April, we discovered a jewelry artisan (highly recommended!) on the left when exiting through the west exit of Nishiki Market (which is a long covered east-west street). I bought a piece of jewelry for my daughter there, but she lost it. I’d love to buy her another one! In the photo, it’s the shop with the yellow awning to the right of the restaurant with the blue awning, "Sushi Sakai."
