Bonjour. Nous sommes arrivés à Villa de Leyva lors d'un 1er séjour en Colombie le samedi matin et reparti le lundi. La ville est magnifique. Nous en gardons un très beau souvenir. Il y a egalement le couvent de Ece Homo a proximité qui est une pure merveille et un musée avec un squelette de taille impresionnante.
Pour notre prochain séjour (été 2018), nous avons également programmé de rester seulement 48h à Bogota mais nous ne ferons pas le musée de l'or que nous avons déjà fait. Si ce n'est pas votre cas, cette durée me semble un peu courte. Pour le reste de ton programme, je suis un peu dans la même problématique que toi sur la durée sachant que nous souhaitons avoir de vrais moments de pause et de farniente et pas seulement à la fin de notre séjour..... Nous avons hâte de suivre le déroulement de ton circuit.

au fait qu'on voudrait réserver au moins les avions , il semble que la période soit touristique .on a prévu également un jour à bogota au retour de notre périple .
On a des doutes aussi sur la duree a carthagene , les îles rosario semblent bien touristiques , peut être vaut il mieux les zappées ?

Nous n'avons pas fait Carthagène car bcp de gens nous ont dit que c'était très très touristique et que ça ne valait pas la peine, après ça dépend ce que tu cherches...
Je pense que je gagnerais du temps sur cette partie pour rajouter une journée complète (voire 2) à Medellin, ville intéressante et ambiance sympa (si 2 jours en plus rajouter Guatape à 1h30 de Medellin), 2 jours à Salento c'est bien, un jour pour flâner dans la ville et l'autre pour la vallée de cocora, villa de Leyva, très jolie, pourquoi ne pas continuer jusqu'à San Gil pour 2 jours puis remonter sur Santa Marta (possible en avion depuis Bucaramanga) faire le nord puis vol Santa Marta-Medellin et continuer sur Jardin, Salento et retour à Bogota?

Merci pour ta reponse , notre voyage se précise .finalement nous resterons un jour plein à medellin voire 2 si tu me dis que ça vaut le coup .nous avons réduit notre séjour à carthagene pour partir ensuite sur les îles San Bernardo .nous avons décidé de finir par un séjour plus cool à la mer c'est pour çela que nous faisons la boucle dans ce sens .
Comment vous êtes vous déplacés ? Petite interrogation aussi au sujet de la sécurité dans le pays , quel est ton ressenti ? Et enfin une dernière petite question au sujet de l'argent , vous êtes vous servis des Distributeurs ou avez vous pris des euros ?

Alors nous nous sommes déplacées essentiellement en bus (très bien organisés dans tout le pays) et avion pour les longs trajets.
Au niveau sécurité, très bonne surprise pour nous car jamais eu de pbs et jamais senties en insécurité! Les colombiens sont hyper gentils et accueillants, apres il faut fonctionner Comme dans n' importe quel pays, en particulier dans les grandes villes et bus d'Amérique du Sud cest à dire faire attention à ses affaires et mettre les choses de valeur dans les lockerd si tu es en dortoir, ne pas traîner dans les quartiers chauds etc etc... à part ca, vraiment Pas de souci de notre côté.
Pour l'argent nous avons des CB sans frais à l'étranger (N26, Revolut...) donc je ne serais pas de bons conseils...

Nous avons pris nos billets sur place, sur les sites des compagnies. Évidemment plus tu les prends tôt moins cest cher, et les vols se remplissent bien, si vous connaissez votre parcours, prenez Les 15 jours à l'avance!

Par contre différence de prix significative entre avianca.com avec prix en dollars ou euros et avianca.co en Cop
Au lieu de 120 dollars j'ai payé l'équivalent de 60 e
Ca paraît un bon coup , à voir si cela est vrai pour toutes les destinations ?
Armenia le vol que nous avons acheté n'est desservi que par avianca semble t il
Apres pour les autres destinations il y a des low cost peut être encore moins chers ...
1. peut etre que 2 jours sur cartagena ca sufit. 4 ca me parait bien longt.
2. tu pourrasi essayer de regarder aussi le désert de la guajira, moi je l ai fait en aout avec des amis on est passé par une petite agence francaise basé en colombie qui propose des hebergement chez l habitant vraiment au top! on a passé 3 jours dans le desert hébergé par une famille indienne . on a visiter des plages magnifiques et des paysages superbes avec les membres de la famille indienne. super expérience un des meilleurs truc que j ai fait en colombie.

3. si tu veux sortir des senties battus le pacifique c est vraiment sauvage. soit bahia solano depuis medellin en avion avec la companie satena. ou depuis cali et le port de buenaventura. la plage de juan de dios c est magnifique.
4. coté plages de reve capurgana ou l ile de providencia vraiment mieux que cartagene !
5. la jungle aussi c est vraiment sympa : vol bogota leticia et apres séjour dans une reserve naturelle de marasha en pleine jungle.
sinon villa de leyva c est sympa et salento aussi!
medellin c est une grande vlle du coup c est plus resto bar et soirée moi je suis pas trop fan mais bon ca dépends des gouts.
et pour moi une journée a bogota ca suffit aussi! grande ville, pluie , froid!

Nous partons le 20 février pour 5 semaines en Colombie, voyage bus-sac à dos. Mais pour gagner du temps, je pensais prendre un vol Bucaramanga- Santa Marta. En cherchant sur le site d'Avianca , j'ai vu qu'il n'y a que des vols avec retour et escale à Bogota, ce qui doit faire un vol de 4 h.
Je voudrais savoir si c'est exact.

Je ne sais pas mais c'est fort possible .nous avions reserve un vol medellin santa marta direct et au final nous avons du repasser par bogota , au total 4 h . Il semble que tous les vols doivent repasser par bogota avec avianca ! Voir peut etre avec les autres compagnies .

Bonjour, tous ces échanges sont très intéressants pour moi qui suis en train de préparer mon voyage pour fin août à fin septembre. Je cherche à savoir s'il est possible d'aller de Rincon del mar à Medellin en bus par exemple ou s'il faut revenir à Carthagene pour faire le trajet en avion. Ensuite y a t il un aéroport proche de Jardin pour rejoindre Popayan ou faut il revenir à Medellin ?
Enfin à l'heure des choix car on ne peut pas tout voir Cali et ses alentours ou Medellin/ Guatape/Jardin ?

Cali , on n'y a pas ete donc je ne sais pas mais par contre Jardin on a adoré , vraiment sympa et authentique . Guatape aussi c'est une excursion interessante sur la journee .
Nous sommes restes 3 jours à Jardin , c'etait un week end de fêtes avec nombreuses parades de chevaux le soir auour de la place . Belle visite de plantations ( los angeles ) , la garrucha , petit telepherique ....et bellle ballade.
Bref , on a beaucoup aimé Jardin .
Hotel condor des andes , super prix et accueil sympathique et competent .

Comme dit dans le message précédent, je choisirais sans hésiter les environs de Medellin (Jardin, Salamina, Jerico, etc.). Superbes paysages, ambiance rurale et authentique, très jolis villages, pas de "hauts lieux touristiques" particuliers mais incontestablement le genre de région auquel on s'attache et qui reste ancrée au coeur.
Super et merci. Adjugé vendu nous terminerons notre voyage dans ce coin avant de revenir à Bogota via Medellin.
A priori je prevois le "circuit" suivant :
Rincon del mar : 3 ou 4 jours de récup
Carthagene : 2 jours
Popayan/SanAgustin/Tierradentro/Popayan : quasi 2 semaines avec le marché de Silvia le 1er mardi. Je dois encore voir cette partie et regarder si on ne continuerait pas plutot vers Nieva et le desert plutot que revenir vers Popayan. Mais dans un village a proximité de Popayan il y a une coopérative de soierie et donc un élevage de vers à soie que j'aimerai bien aller visiter. Tellement étrange dans ce coin !
Medellin : 2 jours avec 1 jour à Guatape
Jardin et environs : 3 à 4 jours
Bogota : 2 jours
Et voilà. Au total nous devrions rester 27/28 jours sur place.

Fil très intéressant car je pars pour une durée similaire à celles évoquées ici d'une part et que vu les dates tous les participants sont maintenant revenus de voyage !
Je me permets donc de vous poster mon ébauche de parcours que je trouve très moyenne pour l'instant à cause des 5 jours pleins de trajet en bus (cf. les > <).
Est-ce que une journée pleine à Tayrona ne serait pas suffisante ? Est-ce que Tatacoa vaut vraiment la peine ? Si je le supprime, je peux ajouter 2 jours dans la région du café ou sinon côté San Gil / Sogamoso / Iza...

Info en passant : j'y étais il y a un mois. Il est très facile d'aller jsuqu'à Riohacha puis Uribe en bus puis taxi collectif.
De Uribe, il y a des 4x4 collectifs au carrefour avec le train pour Cabo (20 000 / pers environ).
Une fois à Cabo en revanche, il faut négocier le transport de 2 jours avec les hôtels (avec une nuit gratuite par là ou un repas à prix réduit par ici), mais ça fera toujours env. 150 000 pour aller à Punta Gallinas le matin, visiter les sites l'après-midi et repartir le lendemain matin pour Riohacha.
Nuit à l'Alexandria, qui est correct vu le contexte.
Chez l'habitant, je ne sais pas si c'est jouable seul, probablement pas
La route A-R pour Punta Gallinas est assez dure (parfois même pas de la piste) : ne pas être à l'arrière du 4x4 !
A noter : en embarquant par un truc organisé qu'à partir de Cabo, on paye environ 2 fois moins cher tout compris qu'en prenant un "tour" depuis Riohacha ou Santa Marta (donc environ 300 au lieu de 600 grosso modo).

I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April.
Here’s what I had in mind:
8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights.
7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!
Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address!
The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).
A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro.
Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.
Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
