I’m currently on a road trip in southern Spain, stopping for a few days in Mérida and Badajoz, then heading toward Lisbon, which I’ve been strongly recommended to visit 🙂

Any ideas for sights, restaurants, bars, or must-do activities in my upcoming destinations? I’m all ears!

I want to do sections of the Collioure-Cadaqués trail. I plan to stay in Collioure first to hike the paths on the French side using the bus. Speaking of which, I’m wondering if it’ll be easy to find a seat on the buses at the end of April, beginning of May.

After that, I’ll head to Figueres to do sections of the trail on the Spanish side. I’m worried the buses might not be too crowded at the end of April.

Here’s what I’m interested in: Llanca - Port de la Selva: Figueres - Llanca by train in the morning and Port de la Selva - Figueres on the way back Port de la Selva - Cadaqués: Figueres - Port de la Selva in the morning and Cadaqués - Figueres on the return trip

I’d also like to go to Cadaqués from Figueres as a day trip. I’m concerned about how busy this route might be at the end of April.

I’m wondering if I need to get tickets in advance and where to buy them.

I booked a ticket to Spain with my married name instead of my maiden name.

Hi there, We’re planning a family stay of 4 days in Santa Susanna on the Costa Dorada in mid-April. We’ve found accommodation within our budget and close to the sea. We’ll definitely visit Barcelona for at least one day. Could you recommend other interesting towns or villages to visit near Santa Susanna? If there are any, that is? Because I might be wrong, but after doing some research, it seems like this town and its immediate surroundings are just beach resorts—maybe a bit too concrete-heavy? It’s fine in the summer, but in April, we might get bored quickly. We’ve even considered changing locations if necessary to get closer to Barcelona since we booked with free cancellation. What do you think? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Hi, I just finished reading Lettres de Barcelone by Caroline Leblanc. It's a collection of letters without a recipient that the author wrote during her 3 years of expatriation in Barcelona. So it's an inside look at the city, off the beaten path, even though the major tourist spots are also part of the scenery. It's full of humor, very open to current events, the history of the city, Catalonia, and Spain. I really enjoyed it. 🙂

Hi everyone! I’m planning a little trip in October and wanted to share where I’m at with my preparations. We’re heading to Alicante from October 18th to 23rd and will be staying on C/ Bailén. (We won’t have a car.) We’ve decided to buy a bus and tram card with 20 trips for the two of us to start. Depending on the weather, here’s what we’ve planned: a visit to Alicante including the covered market, the bullring (?), Santa Cruz… La Illeta del Banyets, Lucentum, the MARQ museum, ELCHE, Tabarca Island, Villajoyosa, Villena Castle, Orihuela (if we have time). Any thoughts? Anything that doesn’t seem worth it? I’m bringing my snorkel mask and a wetsuit just in case.

I remember a bit of Spanish—just *unas pocas palabras*—but otherwise, I get by in English. I’m bringing some euros in small bills. I don’t eat gluten, lactose, legumes, or rice—not allergic, but I feel sick if I eat them. If there are any dishes you’d recommend trying (I’ve heard about *patatas bravas*, and there must be seafood and octopus), or anything for my husband, who can eat everything.

I’ve seen there are cabins along the route. Do you know if it’s possible to sleep in them? On the other hand, in Parzan, apart from a hotel, I can’t find anything else. And the hotel requires a minimum of 2 nights, whereas I only want to stay for one. So, do you know where to stay in Parzan?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to go away at the end of May for a short 5-day trip, not too far away! I currently live near Montpellier and have two kids (ages 2 and 7). The idea is to have a relaxing, low-stress vacation that’s easy to manage with young children (I’m especially thinking of my 2-year-old—cities like Florence, which I’d love to visit, are probably too tiring for his age). I was thinking of Majorca (which I don’t know at all) or Crete, for example, which I visited a long time ago (ideal: good food, ruins to explore, beautiful villages, etc.). But it could also be Malta or somewhere else... It’s true that before having kids, I had more time (and budget) and traveled farther, so I’m not very familiar with the Mediterranean—my mistake!

My question is pretty vague, but what would you recommend for a 5-day trip at the end of May? Since the sea will still be a bit cold (swimming might be tough!), preferably by the coast, with a family-friendly hotel and kid-friendly areas?
