Depuis hier soir j'ai un doute ma journée entre Las Vegas et Zion n'est-elle pas trop chargée ?
En partant de Las Vegas je pensais faire la Valley Of Fire (avec ballade White Domes), continuer sur Saint Georges avec une visite rapide (éventuellement manger !!), puis continuer sur Zion.
En arrivant déposer les affaires à Springdale, prendre la navette jusqu'au parc.
Faire une ballade Emerald Pool Middle et continuer sur Kayenta Trail (là je ne sais pas exactement où est la jonction entre les 2 parcours).
Aller jusqu'au temple pour faire la Riverside Walk et Narrows (uniquement quelques centaines de mètres dans l'eau pour le plaisir de l'eau et des yeux)
Puis retour à Springdale
Voici en gros mon idée mais cela n'est-il pas un peu de trop pour une journée, si oui quoi sacrifier ?
J'attends avec intérêt vos conseils, pour que je puisse dormir tranquille et rêver !!!
Il est important de savoir quel mois tu comptes faire tout ça. Déjà il faudra que tu partes très tôt de Las Vegas. Pas question de grasse mat' avec un tel programme même si tu as profité tard de Las Vegas la veille au soir 😛.
Pour Valley Of Fire, tu as raison de vouloir y faire un détour, pas si long que ça finalement. Ca vaut vraiment le coup. Ce petit State Park est très joli et surprenant. En y étant en milieu de matinée tu pourras y faire une petite marche sans trop souffrir de la chaleur.
Saint George... Bof, à mon avis gagne du temps ici et rejoins directement Springdale. Tu vas à l'hôtel, tu manges un morceau (ou alors sur la route, il y a toujours des restaurants de chaîne 😉, tu mourras pas de faim sur les routes américaines 😎). Suivant ton timing tu peux être à 14h dans la navette.
Emerald Pool est une sympathique balade assez facile et courte. Tu as la Lower qui est en fait (en été) le plus sympa car de l'eau dégouline des falaises et te rafraichit! La Middle c'est une mare plus ou moins remplie suivant les pluies. Tu peux t'arrêter sans problème à Lower et faire demi-tour. De là tu reprends la navette et tu vas faire le Riverside Walk et Narrows jusqu'en fin de journée. Bon il y a du monde, apparemment c'est une marche très prisée des américains, donc tu seras loin d'être seul!
Voilà donc faisable oui je pense, en été en tout cas quand le soleil se couche tard. Mais il faudra pas traîner et avoir du tonus! 😉 Laisse tomber la visite de St George, c'est toujours ça de gagner et rien de bien exceptionnel, vaut mieux passer un peu plus de temps à Valley Of Fire 😎

J'avais vu les 3 possibilités pour Emerald Pool mais en lisant un carnet de voyage (celui de Papj59) j'ai vu qu'on peut continuer par Kayenta Trail, connais-tu ce trail ?
Pauvre Saint George, il va se retourner dans sa tombe, mais tant pis pour lui😕
- Les Emerald:
tu fais Lower puis Meddle, et en te dirigeant vers Upper (et avant d'y monter) tu suis les indications "Kayenta Trail", ça vaut vraiment le coup car tu longes la Virgin River en hauteur pour descendre ensuite sur "the Grotto".
De là tu reprends la navette vers Temple of Sinawava (dernier arrêt) pour faire le chemin Riverside Walk (assez rapide à faire -facile), et un peu de Narrows !

nous on s'etait leve a 6h, depart LV 7h15, arrivee a zion 11h30, je crois (on perd 1 h de decallage horaire entre nevada et utah), parking VC plein...
on avait fait angel landing (jusqu'a scoutlookout) et riveside walk jusqu'au debut des narrows ; bon on avait fini la journee vers 18h30 (c'etait notre 1er jour !!) mais calcules bien quand meme

Voir mon jour 3 (le 06 août), en 4h00 nous avons fait (dans l'ordre):
- depuis Temple of...- RiversideW (et 50m dans Narrows...)-Weeping Rock- Emerald Lower/Middle et une partie de Upper puis Kayenta trail jusque The Grotto.
C'est bien ce que je me disais c'est pour ça que je vous ai interrogés 😉
J' entends d'ici les critiques du reste de la famille; les ados ont vite fait de t'habiller (du genre: c'est n'importe quoi...) et madame risque de botter en touche et de décreter que puisque c'est ça elle va à la piscine (d'autant plus qu'on a choisis un bel hôtel: Le Desert Pearl Inn).🤪
le "problème" à Valley of Fire, c'est qu'il n'est pas trop permis de s'arrêter n'importe où sur le bord de la route pour faire une photo (et les Rangers veillent)... par ex, pour aller à Elephant Rock, alors qu'il est quasi au bord de la route, il faut faire un petit trail (1/8 mile, éprouvant dès qu'il faut chaud et il peut faire très chaud !!!)... pas toujours facile aussi de s'arrêter pour apprécier les belles couleurs pastels entre Rainbow Vista et White Domes... dommage de ne pas faire la balade des White Domes (mais éprouvante sous la chaleur)...
Bref, tout ça pour dire que votre planning me semble ultra chargé et qu'à part tout faire au pas de course, ça va être chaud (aiu propre comme au figuré 😛) ! et j'espère que la veille, vous n'aurez pas fait Las Vegas by night 😛...
Avec un départ vers 5h30 du mat à Vegas (ce qui veut dire, petit déj réduit), vous pouvez arriver peu de temps après le lever du soleil à Valley of Fire vers 6h30 du mat... difficile d'y passer moins de 2h, voire 3h... donc si vous en repartez vers 9h => arrivée à Springdale vers 11h30... mais vous perdez 1h, donc il sera 12h30... à vous de voir ce que vous pourrez faire à Zion à cette heure bien chaude 😉... et gaffe effectivement aux temps dû aux navettes... Weeping Rock et Les Pools risquent d'être un peu réduits en eau en plein été ... le niveau d'eau dans les Narrows, tout dépend... ça peut être très peu (ie pas plus qu'aux genoux) mais s'il y a eu des orages, il se peut aussi que cela soit fermé... je n'ai vu personne avec des cuissardes... par contre avec des chaussures et des bâtons loués à Springdale, oui...

on l'a fait aussi 😊 😉 mais à un moment, nous avons vu les Rangers arriver et faire dégager gentiment une dame qui s'était mis sur le bas côté et qui attendait son mari qui faisait le parc à vélo (et là respect vu la chaleur !)

perso, je suis une femme et le p'tit déj est aussi un repas important (le seul jusqu'au soir) mais pour voir les merveilles de l'ouest j'arrive à faire des entorses 😉... surtout qu'il est impossible de mourir de faim aux USA 😉... y'a toujours moyen de prendre un gobelet de café qq part et d'avoir à manger... mais bon, après c'est une question d'organisation perso ! 😉
à mon avis, vous partez trop tard de Vegas et Valley of Fire entre 9h et 11h, ouch ! et le timing du reste me semble un peu optimiste mais vous y arriverez peut être ! (je suis un mauvais exemple de timing car on traine souvent en faisant des photos 😉).

Je viens de "visiter" votre carnet de voyages, j'aime bien le circuit que vous avez fait, les photos sont magnifiques et il y a des indications de temps qui m'ont aidés.
Je comprends mieux pourquoi partir à 8h ça vous parait tard. Quelles grandes journées, cela m'effraie, réellement on arrive à tenir un tel rythme ?
Moi qui est réservé des hôtels avec piscine 🤪 Si c'est pour arriver si tard à l'hôtel ...
Il est vrai qu'avec le décalage horaire ou sera réveillé tôt (d'autant plus que même sous nos latitudes je suis un lève tôt). Je vais peut-être essayé, quand c'est possible de faire un ballade avant le petit déjeuner revenir à l'hôtel me nourrir correctement et repartir (cela devrait être possible sans faire trop de kilomètres à Yosemite, Furnace Creek, Bryce, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon)
C'est en échangeant que j'arrive à avancer dans ma reflexion,
Chacun a ses "envies" de voyage 😉. Dans notre cas, on souhaite marcher un peu, avoir le temps pour faire des photos, etc... donc au final ça donne des bonnes journées ! si en plus, on veut voir des levers de soleil (comme cette année au Grand Canyon => réveil à 4h du mat) et des couchers de soleil, ça densifie encore les journées 😉.
Nous voyageons à 2, en ayant les mêmes centres d'intérêt et envies, donc c'est plus facile 😉
Avec des ados, il faut sans doute faire qq concessions, sous peine d'avoir une émeute 😛
Ca me parait une bonne idée d'aller faire une balade avant le petit déjeuner et ensuite repasser à l'hôtel : notamment pour voir le lever de soleil, par ex sur les dunes à Stovepipe ou à Zabriskie Point à Death Valley; au Sunset Point à Bryce; à Monument Valley; à Yaki Point au Grand Canyon...

Je peux vous confirmer que "bouger" 2 adolescent (e) en pleine période de rebellion c'est pas facile. Par exemple aujourd'hui il y a de la neige, c'est magnifique (et vivifiant) et bien ça fait 10 minutes qu'on négocie: "oui mais pas une ballade trop longue" et puis les après ski ne conviennent pas, "ils sont moches", ...
Je crois qu'on aurait eu le temps de faire la ballade et revenir avant d'avoir tout le monde dehors prêt à partir. Il n'y a que le chien qui est toujours partant pour sortir...mais bon c'est les nôtres😉
😄 😛... c'est pour cela que ce ne sera peut être pas une mauvaise idée de laisser la "marmaille en rébellion" 😉 à l'hôtel le matin et le soir à la piscine, pendant que vous ferez une balade en plus ! 🙂... mais peut être qu'ils vont adorer l'Ouest et être motivés ? 😉

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
