Pas de probleme particulier, il suffit d'allonger un billet de 1000 FCFA à l'entrée et aussi à la sortie de la gambie aux postes frontières. Je pense que c'est pour payer l'encre du tampon!!! Il faut aussi prendre un ticket pour le bac 200 FCFA toujours à la frontière bon voyage

C'est aussi un passage (ou traversée pourri ou ripoux) C'est une piste/goudron/trous/Etc.. payante !!! et pas mal de poussiéres !!! Tout commence par un papier en 3 volets (payant) à prendre sur la gauche, au 1er contrôle de sortie/entrée pour la Gambie (1, 50 fr cfa) ce papier va te servir de feuille de route !! c'est bien déjà de te trouver un autre véhicule qui fait aussi la traversée, et qui connait !! surtout les prix !! à chaque fois tu ne demande rien et tu poses tes 500fr cfa (tu fais la personne habitué) sinon si tu demande ? ça change de suite vers les 1000fr ou même les 4 à 5.000fr au préposé qui te le réclame comme si c'etait affiché partout ?? non c'est du vol, car nornalement ça devrait être gratuit !! le mieux c'est de s'entendre avec un gads qui passe aussi et qui t'indique tout au fur et à mesure : les où, quand et comment !! PS: si tu as un passe avant Sénégalais pour circuler au Sénégal, il est toujours bon de l'autre côté de la gambie, une fois que tu te retrouve miraculeusement, de nouveau au Sénégal !! D'après toi, es que ça vos le coup de ce taper 500 km de route pourrie et ce faire c.... pour traverser ?? Je voulais y passer 2 à 3 jours et ensuite je m'arrète quelques temps à Saly ou je connais du monde pour soufler.

Ma fois c'est a faire une fois dans sa vie, juste pour dire "je l'ai fait" et c'est tout !! Mais il faut me payer cher pour recommencer cette aventure !! Cordialement de

Je suis d'accord avec Papy, la Gambien c'est un pays pourri. C'est à dire que c'est la corruption qui gouverne tout, le président est moitié fou moitié corrompu (il promet de guerrir le SIDA avec une "potion magique" de son invention) et bien sur il n'y a rien mis a part un bel aéroport à Banjul (il a été construit par les américains qui avaient besoin d'une piste d'urgence pour les navettes je crois mais je n'en suis plus sur) et des hotels "forfaits" ou de vieilles allemandes vont de faire bronzer les seins puis le soir venu se tapent les mecs qui attendent à la sortie... Il suffit de marcher 200 mètres pour voir tout d'un coup l'extrême pauvreté et la violence qui règne dans ce pays. Les gens vivent dans des contenaires, on ne peut appeller à l'étranger sans avoir besoin d'une "special authorization" ou alors il faut le faire depuis les télécentres (la bonne astuce pour tout écouter!). Je n'ai passé que cinq jour en Gambie mais ce fut cinq jour à base de stupéfaction chaque jour...
Juste une petite anecdote qui veut tout dire (mais j'en ai plein en tête): le troisième jour je me ballade dans le marché de Banjul bien sur je suis le seul toubab du coin, ça ne me dérange pas j'ai l'habitude ça fait déjà deux semaines que je me promène au Sénégal avec mon pote sénégalais. A un moment je rentre dans une boutique et Famara dans une autre, j'achete une petite statuette en bois à trois francs six sous et je sort. Tout à coup deux flics arrivent, deux gros molosses comme on en voit que dans les films, facilement 1m90 pour 110 kilo, le ventre bedonnant, les lunettes noire, la moustache, bref un film! L'un d'eux se présente comme un officier et me demande mon passeport pour un contrôle. Je lui donne (pour une fois que c'est un noir qui controle les papiers d'un blanc et non le contraire!) et il passe facilement cinq minutes à regarder mon passeport sous toutes les coutures, me faisant répeter au moins trois fois, mon nom, ma date de naissance... Puis il tourne la page et cherche le visa. Au moment d'examiner le visa il fait la moue, approche le passeport de ses yeux, le tourne mais bizarement on dirait qu'il joue plus la comédie qu'autre chose. Puis il me dit "vous êtes entré en Gambie il y a plus de 36 jours votre présence est donc illégale nous allons vous emmener au comissariat!". Pour le coup c'est moi qui commence à être surpris, je suis arrivé il y a trois jours en Gambie! Je lui répond que je ne comprend pas, que je suis arrivé le 13 et que nous sommes le 16 donc il n'y a pas de problème. J'ai bien fait mon visa à l'Ambassade à Dakar, je suis bien rentré par un poste légal... Impassible il me répond "je ne peux pas voir la date..". Là c'est la meilleure, je veux bien qu'il ait des problèmes de vue mais encore aujourd'hui, même après que mon passeport soit passé à la machine à laver, j'arrive à lire 13-02-2004! Je lui indique avec le doigt ou elle, impossible sa vue est "floue". Puis son collègue qui jusque là était resté silencieux me dit "si tu lui donnes 100 dalasis il ira s'acheter des lunettes sinon tu iras au comissariat". Plutôt rassurant le collègue. Je lui demande de répeter et là le tarif augmente "100 dalasis pour moi 100 pour lui et on arrivera à lire la date". Je suis obligé de m'executer, ils ont pas l'air commode les molosses d'autant plus que Famara doit m'attendre ou me chercher! Je leur tend donc à chacun un billet de 100 dalasis et ils me redonnent mon passeport avec un grand sourrire qui voulait bien dire "bien fait". Je rejoins Famara et le guide qui nous accompagnait (je le remercie de son aide durant cet mésaventure d'ailleurs...). Famara se moque de moi et le guide me dit que c'est normal.
Cinq minutes après je retrouve les deux gros molosses assis à la terasse d'un café en train de siroter une bière...

Pour emprunter la route DK/ZIG et vice versa, je confirme la corruption des douanes gambiennes dont le comportement m'écoeure. Par contre, la route n'est pas si pourrie que ça, j'ai connu nettement pire sur le tronçon Zig/Cap Skirring/Elinkine avant mai 2007 🤪

Bonjour,
Je suis un Toubab (Blanc) qui est résident en Casamance. De ce fait, je dois traverser la Gambie pour me rendre à Dakar puisque c'est la route la plus courte et que la piste qui évite la Gambie est en mauvaise état. Les douaniers gambiens sont exécrables, surtout si vous ne parlez pas l’anglais. Pas trop méchants, mais désagréables. Les formalités pour rentrer en Gambie sont très simples, il suffit de payer 1'000 Francs CFA pour avoir le visa à la douane. Mais attention, il y a une spécialité gambienne que je n’ai connue nulle part ailleurs au monde : Un jour, on m’a fait payer encore 1'000 Fr CFA pour sortir de la Gambie !!!!
Il faut savoir aussi que douaniers et policiers font des contrôles des personnes et des bagages à main, surtout des dames. Tout vêtement ou coiffure genre camouflage de l’armée est interdit. Les crèmes éclaircissantes pour la peau sont interdites. Je me trouvais dans un taxi avec une dame sénégalaise et son bébé lorsqu’ils l’ont arrêtée parce qu’elle avait un vieux tube au ¾ vide de ce genre de crème dans son sac à main. Ils voulaient l’amener au Tribunal pour ça … … Avec le bébé qui avait la diarrhée, je ne vous raconte pas les détails de l’épisode. Il a fallu que tous les occupants du taxi parlementent pendant ¾ d’heure pour que la femme policière accepte de laisser partir cette pauvre dame.
En résumé, le visa d’entrée s’obtient sans problème à la douane.

on a fait le voyage dans le sens inverse et je confirme que les policiers gambiens sont assez corrompus. tous les 5 km, ils nous arretaient et nous demandaient un petits billets. Tu peux tenter de dire que tu n'as pas d'oseil, mais quand ils t'emmenent parfois a trois et armes, ca peut etre impressionant. Apres de retour au senegal, c'est cool on te sourit. bonne chance et bon voyage! nat

Oui, pas mal, toutes dans le même sens, c'est à dire les enmer...... à la frontière pour en fin de compte pas voir grand chose, on s'arrêtera plus longtemps dans le saloum.

Evidemment si vous le faites en dehors d'un voyage organisé ok, sinon, il n'y a rien de spécial sauf d'attendre le bac et présenter plusieurs fois son passeport mais c'est en général le guide qui prend le tout et qu'il le présente sauf une fois à l'aller et une fois au retour mais ils ont été sympas et ont même discuté avec nous. Je suis vraiment navré de vous mettre tous en garde des "gambiens" ce sont de vrais VOLEURS on m'a piqué tout mon argent sur le bac de karanc ils peuvent te poursuivre et communiquer entre eux par tele portsont bien organiser en réseau ya meme quelques agents de police ou autres sur la douanes qui en font partie pour partager le gateau des pauvres toubabes volés .ils ne cherchent pas à travailler "honétement" et laissen les guinééns s'occuper de leur quotidient ..
je n'oublirai jamais le maleur qu'ils m'ont causer !!!

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.

I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist! But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point. I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing! In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing! I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me! If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry. However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)

This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea? Thanks for the info! If you’d like tips on Khao Lak and the surrounding areas, we’ve got some experience, though things change fast! Cheers, Bruno.

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).
If you have any info on this, I’d appreciate your replies.

For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France? I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

Just a question that’s probably been asked before (though usually the other way around for my situation :))
My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
