je viens à l'instant de regarder mes mails et je suis très heureuse de constater que votre séjour sur Madère s'est bien passé et que vous soyez satisfaite de l'adresse de Maria et Fernando . Le contraire m'aurai désolé car des personnes aussi sympa qu'eux ne se trouvent pas si facilement. Pour notre part actuellement nous préparons un voyage d'une semaine sur l'Italie du nord et plus spécialement les lacs italiens.Nous allons également en chambre d'hôtes où le contact est plus proche que dans un hôtel et les prix sont plus attractifs, mais nous pensons retourner à Poiso en fin d'année .C'est gentil d'avoir pensé aux fromages pour Maria.

Par contre pour visiter l'île une voiture est necessaire et également pour se rendre chez eux et arriver làbas : le calme, et le bien être; les abords de la route départementale sont très fleuris( des agapantes bleues et blanches ) Il y a possiblité de prendre les repas du soir . La chambre et le petit déjeuner ( copieux ) pour 40€ pour 2 personnes : draps fournis ainsi que serviettes de toilette . C'est à 10 km de Funchal et le parc naturel à moins de 50 m et l'aéroport à 25 m.

Merci beaucoup pour votre réponse. Je me suis rendue sur le site conseillé Homelidays, qui est malheureusement en maintenance au niveau de l'inscription. J'ai déjà envoyé un mail à Mme Gemeira pour savoir s'ils avaient de la disponibilité la semaine où je souhaite partir (du 6 au 13 août). Je n'ai pas réfléchi, je l'ai rédigé en français(je ne parle pas portugais), mais j'aurais peut-être du l'écrire en anglais... Qu'en pensez-vous?
Dans mon programme, je me suis noté quelques endroits dans lesquels j'aimerais randonner ou voir: Pico do Ariero Curral das Freiras Levada das 25 fontes Ponta de Sao LourencoCe sont les sites qui m'ont parrus les plus intéressants et qui sont surement les plus réputés, je me renseigne encore, en tout cas j'accepte avec plaisir tous les conseils.
En fait, je suis entrain de me dire qu'une semaine c'est très court, surtout au regard de toutes les possibilités de randonnées...

Tout d'abord Maria GAMEIRO parle bien le français mais maîtrise moins l'écriture et Fernando parle l'anglais.
En effet le Pico do Ariero est à faire mais le matin de bonne heure et quand il fait beau afin de profiter de la vue magnifique, il faut 30 mn pour y accéder en voiture .
Santana avec ses maisons triangulaires en forme de A
Ponta de Sào Lourenço qui est très désertique en comparaison avec le reste de l'île
Porto Moniz avec ses piscines aménagées dans les rochers
Cabo Girâo
Ribeira Brava sur la côte ouest
et bien sur le jardin botanique de Funchal ( l'entrée 3 € )
Voir également le marché( Mercado dos Lavradores ) elt la vielle ville de Funchal
Prendre aussi le téléphérique Funchal-Monte qui relie les 2 points en un peu plus de 10 mn, il fait 3 km et làhaut vous pourrez redescendre soit avec le téléphérique ou en traineau d'osier ( pour notre part nous avons opté pour le premier mais nous avons fait des photos )

C'est avec plaisir que je vais essayer de répondre à votre question au sujet de Madère
En effet nous y sommes allés du 4 au 11 octobre 2007, et avons séjournés chez Maria et Fernando à Poiso qui se trouve à 10 km de Funchal, l'aéroport est à 25 mn mais il faut une voiture pour se rendre chez eux et surtout pour bien visiter l'île.Nous avions payé 40€ la chambre pour 2 personnes avec le petit déjeuner, et le soir nous prenions le repas avec eux pour une sommes dérisoire(mais je ne me souviens plus du prix) Maria cuisine très bien et nous faisait les spécialitées de son pays, elle parle très bien le français et ce sont des personnes formidables et qui ont beaucoup voyagés à travers le monde.
Nous avions loué la voiture à l'aéroport et en une semaine fait le tour de l'île et ...aussi l'intérieur.Eventuellement je peux vous dire les sites à ne pas manquer mais c'est à faire, par contre dans la rue ou certaines boutiques le français n'est pas beaucoup parlé ( c'est surtout l'anglais et bien entendu le portugais )

Je pense qu'il y a des bateaux qui font la liaison entre Lisbonne et Funchal, mais il faut aller voir sur le web;en tous les cas lors de mon séjour à Madère j'ai vu des paquebots débarquer un nombre impressionnant de touristes
Pour en revenir à la location de chambres d'hôtes chez Maria et Fernando il est préférable de retenir à l'avance surtout au moment des fêtes
A bientôt le plaisir de te lire et de pouvoir à mon petit niveau te renseigner sur cette magnifique île à découvrir en voiture de location à ton rythme , selon le temps car par exemple il faut être très tôt levé pour aller admirer le pico do arieiro par temps dégagé ( au lever du soleil c'est magnifique mais il faut 30 mn de voiture deouis Funchal pour y accéder )La ponta de Sâo Louenço à l'extrémité est de l'île composée de roches volcaniques de couleurs ocre, rouge et noir est superbe.Par contre nous n'avons pas fait les lévadas qui sont des canaux d'irrigations et qui offrent de belles randonnées.L'îme fait 57 km de long sur 23 de large et Maria et Fernando habitent à Poiso un coin très tranquille pour se reposer le soir de toutes les balades de la journée

Il semble que, pour le véhicule à louer, tous les avis ne convergent pas ; certains disent qu'un simple véhicule convienne, alors que d'autres préconisent un petit 4X4; nous sommes donc intéressés par les différents avis.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?
On the way back, if we have a little time to explore Bern’s historic old town, what’s the best parking plan for a 1- or 2-hour stop?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Hello,
We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.
