Bon, je vais essayer de faire court (c'est pas mon fort!)😉, une fois de plus j'ai besoin de vous.
Je pars, avec un ami, faire un séjour d'un mois au Maroc. J'ai un passeport français, lui , un passeport marocain.
Ce n'est pas notre 1er séjour là-bas (j'adore), et nous avons pour "habitude" de passer une nuit à l'aller, et une, voire deux avant le retour, à Marrakech.
Nous sommes de simples amis (donc, pas de certificat de mariage à présenter!😉), et "d'habitude", nous avions deux adresses d'hôtels "pas cher" (très "popus mais très sympas, nostalgie!, à 20E la nuit pour 2) qui acceptaient de nous recevoir (nous connaissons bien sûr les risques encourus par ces hôtels, au regard des contrôles de police).
Cette année, ça bloque, ils ne sont plus ok.
Je suis donc à la recherche d'un hôtel /pension/riad sur MRK, qui soit prêt à nous "accepter" (chambre twin ou double, on s'en fout, si SDB commune mais propre, ça nous va aussi, on y va pour se laver et dormir).
bien sûr j'ai acheté mon lonely (mon routard datait de 2008🤪), consulté moults sites , dont hostelworld.com (je conseille), mais pas possible de contacter les endroits repérés pour savoir si ils acceptent cette "situation", d'autant que je ne maîtrise pas l'arabe. Oui je sais, mon ami pourrait le faire, mais là, il est entrain de faire son sauvage sur place, sur une plage déserte pour pêcher depuis un mois🙂
Bref, je suis donc à la recherche d'un lieu, pas loin de la place Djam el fna (je ne saurais jamais l'écrire😏!), et je vois deux solutions :
- soit un hôtel pas cher (20E pour deux) mais propre, quitte à prendre deux chambres (mais c'est moins sympa, on aime bien discuter tt de même!)
- soit un endroit, riad par exemple (mais pas forcément, ceci dit une terrasse pour le petit déj ça me dirait bien, à 40E/nuit pour une chambre double/twin).
J'ai repéré, sur le site que j'ai cité, une auberge de jeunesse qui a une chambre double mais aussi des dortoirs (perso, je n'aime pas mais bon, ce serait une solution de repli de réserver une double et de finalement prendre des places en dortoir si ça "ne passe pas" à l'arrivée, il s'agit du "trip and friend" : quelqu'un a-t-il un avis à me donner sur cette adresse ?
sinon, j'ai repéré les riad "Dar Tamil" et "la calèche", mais comme je ne peux pas les contacter, je ne peux pas prendre le risque de réserver et de nous faire "refouler" à l'arrivée😕
Avez-vous des suggestions à me soumettre ?

Nous comptons ne passer qu'une nuit à l'aller (le 29/08) et une, voire deux nuits maxi, au retour (27-28/09), alors déjà trouver une chambre ce n'est pas facile cette année, mais trouver un appart🤪....a moins que vous connaissiez quelqu'un qui soit susceptible de louer un appart à ces dates ? si oui, je suis preneuse du contact !
En fait, j'arrive a Marrakech le 29, je fais une pause à Safi (mon ami est Safiot), et ensuite, nous remontons en bus à Casa pour prendre un avion pour Dakhla, où nous passerons quelques jours (en fonction du feeling, moi envie de me poser, mon ami de pêcher), pour ensuite remonter la côte en faisant des "stops" au gré du vent, donc cette histoire de trouver un hôtel à Marrakech, ....

Pourquoi ne pas prendre deux chambres simples dans un hôtel à prix abordables pour toi, comme l'hôtel Essaouira dans la médina ou Le Toulousain dans le quartier de Gueliz... Tous les deux très propres...
Oui, on m'a déjà fait cette suggestion suite au même post sur un autre forum, mais j'expliquais qu'en fait, comme on part un mois, nous logeons à 99% à 12-20E / nuit (en général, on cherche en arrivant à la destination), dans de petits hôtels, de petites pensions, ou chez l'habitant (bizarrement, sauf dans le nord, à Tétouan, personne ne nous pose de questions si certificat de mariage ou non, mais je comprends qu'il y ait plus de contrôles à Marrackech qu'ailleurs, et que les hôteliers tiennent à leur boulot, tout comme moi 😉)mais quand on se fait un petit "luxe", car du coup, une chambre à 40E, c'est du luxe pour nous, en général on se fait ce genre d'extra une à deux fois pdt le voyage, quand on flashe sur un endroit et qu'on a envie d'un peu plus de confort, et dans ce cas c'est donc pour partager une chambre sympa, dans un endroit sympa - terrasse voire piscine- et avec une douche chaude🙂! (ceci dit cela ne me dérange pas de me laver "au seau" le reste du temps, ça a son petit charme, tant que l'endroit est propre !
Non pas que l'on soit radins ou fauchés, mais comme on part un mois, que l'on va faire la côte de Dakhla (avion casa-dahkla, 88E/pers, c'était pas prévu mais on n'a pas le courage de le faire en bus pour descendre) pour ensuite remonter vers Safi (où mon ami a une maison, là c'est une pause pour manger de la sardine grillée et faire notre lessive 😏), et ensuite aller Oualidia, voire Essaouira (en fonction du temps qu'il nous reste, perso j'aime bcp Oualidia, et Essaouira...hors saison!) ; car pour remonter de Dakhla (en bus, cette fois, on compte faire des stops sur la route -on ne connait pas cette partie du pays- à Tarfaya, Mirleft et/ou Sidi Ifni, un petit tour à la vallée du paradis (qu'on a appreçue une fois lors d'un trajet en bus, mais pas possible de s'y arrêter), en fait on s'arrêtera un peu au feeling, donc on a tout de même un budget à gérer...

Pour en revenir à notre fameuse nuit à l'arrivée à MRK, je crois que je vais réserver une double dans une auberge de jeunesse que j'ai repérée ("le trip and friends", je n'ai pas eu de réponse de personnes qui connaitraient), comme ils ont aussi des dortoirs, si ça bloque pour la double en arrivant, et bien on se prendra deux lits en dortoirs, tout simplement...je me demande même si je ne vais pas réserver direct un dortoir 3 places, qui nous reviendrait pas trop cher...vais encore réfléchir et voir si d'autres personnes ont d'autres suggestions...

Quand à l'hôtel Toulousain, que j'avais vu dans mon vieux routard 2088, il y a deux ans, nous y avions réservé une chambre et, la fatigue aidant sans doute, on a oublié de poser la "fameuse question" au tél, et bien on l'a bien regretté, parce que quand on a débarqué après X heures de bus (on revenait de Zagora), il nous a expliqué que ce n'était pas possible (bon, tant pis, on n'avait qu'à penser à poser la question), mais le pire, c'est que le veilleur de nuit a commencé à insulter mon ami et à lui faire la leçon😕, ça a fini par une belle engueulade ! (à laquelle je n'ai rien compris, mais j'ai par contre bien compris qu'il nous insultait !), bref...j'ai souvent lu que cet hôtel était bien...mais à condition d'avoir la même nationalité !😄

That’s a lot of cities.
Probably a bit too many for our taste—we usually prefer more isolated spots...

Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

Day 4-5-6: Chefchaouen and a day hike in the Rif Mountains
Day 6-7: Discover the city of Fes (I’ve heard so many great things!!)
Day 8: Stop in Meknes and possibly visit the historic site of Volubilis
Day 9-10: Rabat (I’ve heard mixed things... some good, some bad)
After that, I have the choice of heading back to Tangier for my return flight... or going down to Agadir (also a possible return flight) and extending my trip by 5 days :)
From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.
For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.

Day 5: Hurghada, then drive to Luxor in the early afternoon

Day 7: Luxor, then drive back to Hurghada in the late afternoon

For the Hurghada trip, either rent a car or—easier—a private car/van.
