J'ai épluché toutes les pages du forum concernant l'installation "définitive" dans ce beau pays, beaucoup de mes questions y ont trouvé une réponse, mais pas toutes.
Déjà, je vous fait un petit topo :
A l'origine je souhaitais demander un PVT mais je me suis dit qu'un an, ce ne serait pas suffisant, en effet, je pars avec mon ami qui souhaiterais réaliser son doctorat outre-atlantique (soit 2 ou 3 ans d'études)
En ce qui me concerne, je serais bientôt diplomée en géographie et environnement, et lorsque ma demande sera faite, j'aurais une maîtrise.
Depuis quelques mois, l'idée de partir au Québec germe dans notre esprit... Même plus que ça : nous souhaitons faire une demande de visa permanent, afin de pouvoir partir aout 2009 (idéalement)
Notre destination phare était Montréal, même si mon ami est bilingue, et que moi je me débrouille un peu en anglais, cette ville nous attire vraiment, "dans l'imaginaire", nous allons d'ailleurs y aller en juillet pour savoir si nous avons le coup de foudre ou pas... Mais ce que j'ai lu sur ce forum m'a vraiment refroidi. Je ne me fais pas vraiment de soucis quant à nos chances d'obtenir notre visa : nous sommes un jeune couple francophone, diplômé... en pas trop mauvaise santé... ça devrait passer
Mais ma plus grande inquiètude est vis-à-vis de la ville de Montréal. J'ai des amis là bas et ils adorent y vivre, mais je viens de lire tout un tas d'horreur : c'est une ville au bâti vetuste, aux transports en commun plus que limite (étant donné que nous n'aurons pas de voiture dans l'immédiat, là bas, ca risque d'être problématique), le système de santé pourrave... En plus, j'ai quelques ennuis de santé, qui ne sont pas graves au demeurant, car bien traités, mais j'ai vraiment peur de ne pas être prise en charge correctement là bas....
Toronto ne m'attire pas vraiment, tout au moins pas dans l'immédiat, de plus, il semble que Montréal soit quand même un foyer de jobs, non?
Bref, c'est très compliqué, je n'arrive pas à peser le pour et le contre des différentes remarques des forumiens à propos de cette ville... Je vis actuellement à Lyon, est ce que par hasard l'un de vous a connu les deux villes? Ca me permettrait peut-être de pouvoir comparer concrètement
Je sais que c'est un post un petit peu étrange, sans réelles questions, mais j'aimerais plutôt connaître le vécu d'immigrés français, ou de Montréalais de pure souche, pour pouvoir appréhender ce projet au mieux, et ne pas avoir un choc et un déracinement trop important...

ce que tu dis sur Montreal me semble un peu... exagéré 🤪
On y vit plutot pas mal, dans des maisons assez sympa (meme si elles ne sont pas en béton armé), les transports en commun dans la ville sont corrects.
Pour ce qui est des services de santé, il faut savoir qu'il y a une pénurie de médecins et personnel médical au quebec... ce qui peut ammener a attendre longtemps avant de voir un médecin ou a l'hopital. Mais apres, les soins sont ceux d'un pays occidental quand meme 😮
apres, c'est un avis personnel, mais c'est peut etre prématuré pour la demande de rp... avez vous pensé a la solution suivante : permis d'étude pour ton ami permis de travail en tant que "conjointe d'étudiant" ?

Ce n'est pas moi qui le dit, mais plusieurs forumiens sur ce forum, je te chercherais les discussions si ça t'interesse😉
Nous avons pensé à toutes les solutions, et elles sont rarement valables pour une période assez longue, de plus, pour des raisons logistiques, il faut qu'on parte au moins un an... Et je me vois très mal préparer tout ça, pour devoir en revenir aussi sec... Rien n'est définitif, comme je dis toujours, mais autant faire les choses en grand non? Au niveau financier, ça ne va pas nous coûter énormément plus de demander le visa permanent... Et paradoxalement, ce sera peut-être un des visas les plus faciles à obtenir en ce qui nous concerne (d'autant plus que le quota pour l'immigration française augmente très fortement)
C'est vraiment compliqué de réfléchir à tout! C'est un projet mûrement réfléchi (celui de partir), mais là se pose maintenant la question : mais où au canada?! Au début, on avait même pas hésité, mais maintenant... c'est un peu différent... En attendant, j'étudie au mieux l'histoire et la géo du québec, tout simplement...

pour montreal, je te donnais plutot mon point de vue pour y avoir habité pendant quelques mois.
En ce qui concerne le visa, c'est vraiment a vous de voir la meilleure solution (de toutes facons vous en apprendrez encore si vous allez aux réunions d'information), je voulais juste vous parler d'une éventuelle autre possibilité...
Écoute, Montréal est une ville, et une ville a des défauts et des qualités comme partout! Tu ne trouveras pas d'Eldorado, ça n'existe pas.
Sinon, je te conseille de lire un max d'infos sur la culture québécoise, la façon de vivre et de travailler, et de faire quelques séjours à Montréal (ou autre ville) et d'y vivre comme un local...prend les transports en commun, fais comme si tu allais travailler, ça te donnera une idée.
Va aussi lire des témoignages d'immigrants qui sont venus vivre ici, c'est plein de sites internets et de blogues là-dessus...
Pour le système de santé, attend toi à ce que ça soit difficile, les médecins qui acceptent les nouveaux patients sont rares, les listes d'attentes pour certaines opérations sont très longues, les urgences souvent débordées, surtout à Montréal...Là dessus je pense qu'il est important de ne pas sous-estimer le problème étant donné que tu sembles avoir qq ennuis de santé.
Sinon Montréal oui, c'est une ville spéciale, pas trop grosse (je me sens un peu étouffée à New York par exemple) avec une bonne ambiance, malheureusement elle se dégrade de plus en plus.
Lyon oui je connais, j'y suis allée cet été, belle ville, propre, agréable.

Je cherche une ville de taille moyenne, je ne supporterais pas non plus d'habiter au centre du monde (NYC donc), déjà que je vis très mal à Paris... mais je ne supporterais pas non plus d'être dans plus petit que Lyon, je sais je suis difficile!😏

Nous allons immigrer également au Québec en septembre 2008, nous irons pour notre part à Québec.
Tout ce qui a été dit auparavant est très juste, au niveau du système de santé ce n'est pas la qualité qui est remise en cause mais plutôt l'accès à celui-ci...
Les soins sont très bons pour peu qu'on puisse y avoir accès donc. 😎
Concernant Montréal et la taille de la ville, je dirais que c'est très grand mais pas très dense.
On pourrait comparer la taille de la ville à celle de Paris (environ), bien qu'elle soit moins grande, mais c'est surtout beaucoup moins dense, donc plus agréable à vivre...
Pour avoir visité Québec, notre choix de lieu de vie, j'aime à la comparer à Toulouse (dont je suis originaire) pour ce qui est de sa taille et de son urbanisme. Et je compare Montréal à Paris pour les mêmes choses (embouteillages, taille, multiculturalisme), même si, je le répète, Montréal est un bon ton en dessous pour tous ces paramètres.
En gros, je te dirais que si tu es "jeune" dans l'âme, que tu aimes sortir, aller dans des expos, n'es pas trop incommodé par les bouchons, aime le multiculturalisme... Montréal est pour toi.
Si, comme nous, tu es plus "famille", nature, et a un tempérament plus provincial que parigot orgueilleux, Québec ou Sherbrooke sont un bon choix.

Je suis loin d'être une parisienne dans l'âme, mais j'avoue que Québec serait peut-être trop petit pour moi... Je ne suis pas du tout une fêtarde, mais j'ai quand même besoin de sentir qu'il y a beaucoup de choses à faire et à voir, qu'il y a du monde quoi!

Je suis Belge, je vis sur la rive sud de Montréal, et Montréal est une ville à la fois fascinante et à la fois minable
Fascinante: car c'est une île, c'est hypermégamulticulturel, c'est petit et donc comme un village mais en géant, le Métro t'amène partout et la ville a de nombreux attraits: centres d'achats souterrains, Musées, etc... La ville a une âme on le sent quand on la parcourt une journée entière... Il y a les quartiers Anglais, le Plateau (partie un peu bourgeoise sur le haute de la ville), le vieux Montréal, très Français mais touristiques à 400%. Il y a tant à y faire c'est fou, surtout l'été.
Minable: car c'est une ville sale, avec tout en plus petit qu'à Toronto, qu'à N-Y, mal gérée avec un circuit routier affreux car totalement souvent "jammé comme on dit ici. Une ville qui est arrivée au bout de son urbanisation, une ville qui vieillit mal..
Tu vois, c'est ambivalent. On peut facilement avoir deux regards opposés de cette ville. C'est une ville qui a trop de facettes différentes pour la résumer.. On peut résumer certaines villes et cataloguer facilement plusieurs villes du monde mais Montréal est avant tout à vivre, expérimenter pour se faire sa propre idée.
D'un point de vue pratique, j'ai vécu un peu sur la rue Sherbrooke Est, j'ai trouvé que le coût de ma vie était bien inférieur à ma vie en Belgique...
C'est très étonnant car tes côtés négatifs sont loins de me rebuter. C'est même étrange. Cette ville a l'air d'avoir une âme, et sale ou pas, je pense que c'est à expérimenter
Au moins pour ne pas avoir de regrets😮
Dernière question : est-il simple d'y vivre "convenablement" sans avoir de voiture sur place? J'ai mon permis mais n'amène jamais ma voiture à lyon car j'en ai vraiment pas besoin intra-muros, est ce la même chose pour Montréal?
Je me suis inscrite pour une réunion le mois prochain, donnée par la déléguation québécoise, j'espere que ca fera avancer les choses...

Se déplacer sans voiture à Montréal est relativement simple, suffit de bien choisir ton quartier et assure-toi qu'il y ait des transports en commun tout près (bus/métro). Essaie autant que possible d'être près de ton lieu de travail, car le trajet quotidien peut devenir assez pénible.
Il y a des quartiers avec de nombreux commerces autour, épiceries, etc.
Quand on dit que Montréal est sale, ce n'est pas la saleté le pire (ça reste encore correct) mais bien les infrastructures qui se dégradent beaucoup, beaucoup, beaucoup! Prépare-toi à ça.

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.
The hectares have remained unused for years due to a lack of financial means, since the project requires what I’d call a considerable investment. As the main stakeholder, I have a minimal contribution to offer.

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
Are there any special requirements before leaving France (aside from taxes...)?

Actually, I’m currently doing a postgraduate diploma in pediatric respiratory physiotherapy and want to specialize in that area. Anyway, that’s not the main point—could anyone explain the pros and cons of doing this job in Switzerland? Based on the paperwork I’ve received, the equivalence seems purely administrative or almost... What about working conditions, quality of life, salaries, etc.?
