Nous partons sur l'ile de La palma en avril. Nous serons logés à l'hôtel "teneguia princess" au sud de l'ile. Nous aimerions louer une voiture mais apparemment il faudrait la prendre à l'aéroport car aucun organisme ne propose de la récupérer à l'hôtel situé trop loin .
Quelqu'un pourrait il me donner des conseils? Existe t'il des navettes ou bus qui repartirait de l'aéroport via le sud de l'ïle car nous aimerions la rendre la veille du départ?

J'ai effectué un séjour il y a 2 ans dans ce même hôtel et j'ai loué un véhicule à un loueur de Fuencaliente qui me l'a amené et repris à l'hôtel avec un prix très intéressant. J'avais trouvé les coordonnées sur une affiche collée sur le mur d'un local à proximité.

Comment avez vous trouvé cet hôtel? J'en profite pour vous demander aussi quel site il ne faut pas manquer, si vous avez des suggestions de randonnées pas trop difficiles et pas trop longues.
Ma fille est passionnée d'astronomie et au nord de lîle il y a l'observatoire. L'avez vous visité? Combien de temps de route faut il compter pour y accéder?

L'hôtel est très bien, rien à redire, les chambres sont confortables, on y mange bien et c'est très calme. Il y a un grand nombre de piscines, une seule était chauffée en janvier mais j'ai essayé toutes les autres, même si on me regardait comme un extra-terrestre.
Essayez d'avoir une chambre vue mer, à droite de la réception au bout de l'allée, c'est vraiment calme.
Le seul souci est que l'Hôtel est isolé au bord de la mer et en bas d'une route qui vient de Fuencaliente et qu'il faudra remonter à chaque fois que vous partirez où que ce soit. Fuencaliente est un carrefour qui permet d'accéder aux différentes parties de l'île.
Je n'avais effectivement pas réservé de voiture avant de partir et j'ai vu cette affiche en me promenant aux abords de l'hôtel. J'ai demandé à la réception s'ils pouvaient m'appeler ce loueur qu'ils connaissent bien et il est venu m'apporter le véhicule et faire les formalités à l'hôtel.
Je pense qu'i s'agit pour lui d'une activité complémentaire puisqu’il loue également des appartements.

L'observatoire se trouve à la Roque de Los Muchachos alt 2426m et comprend une dizaine de télescopes de tous modèles, de tous pays et à usages différents. Les visites ont lieu le matin à partir de 9h30 certains jours et il faut réserver à l'avance Il vous faudra 2 bonnes heures pour vous y rendre de l'hôtel donc se lever tôt.

Le site vaut le déplacement, les paysages sont magnifiques, prévoir une petite laine au cas où.
Le mirador de la Cumbrecita (mirador du parc naturel de Taburiente), 1h 20 de l'hôtel on y accède par El Paso puis route LP3 jusqu'au Centre national de visitantes de la Caldera. Visiter et s'inscrire au centre pour accéder au parking du mirador par une petite route, laisser la voiture au parking et continuer par un sentier jusqu'au mirador, belle balade facile à pied.
La route Ouest Puerto Naos, Tazacorte petits points de villégiature avec leurs plages de sable noir
La capitale Santa Cruz, c'est vite fait.
Les salines de Fuencaliente, en sortant de l'hôtel route de droite vers Faro, en chemin aller voir sur la droite le village de pêcheurs très modeste de Morron
Le volcan Teneguia par le GR route des volcans aboutissant au phare. Le prendre sur la LP207 après le phare en garant votre voiture sur un emplacement pour 2 ou 3 voitures juste après le panneau. Durée une bonne heure vous monterez dans un univers minéral qui satisfera les amateurs de volcans (coulées, cendres noires et rouge, bombes....). Le retour est fabuleux avec une vue sur les salines, l'océan, le phare et l'ile de la Gomera.
Et sûrement plein d'autres choses que je vous laisse le soin de découvrir à pied ou en voiture selon vos goûts.

En effet, Cicar est très professionnel, lors de mes 2 derniers voyages aux Canaries, Lanzarote et la Grande Canarie, j'ai traité avec eux et aucun souci. Les voitures en très bon état, on vous remet une carte de l'île, bien suffisante pour en faire le tour, il y a la possibilité d'avoir un audio guide gratuit sur demande, on vous demande juste de rendre la voiture avec le niveau d'essence identique. L'assurance est tout compris et je n'ai même pas eu de contrôle de l'état du véhicule au retour.
J'ai mis la voiture au parking de l'hôtel et les clés à la réception.
Par contre je ne savais pas qu'ils faisaient la livraison/reprise au Teneguia parce que la distance n'est pas négligeable (64km AR). Mais c'est indiqué sur l'écran de réservation, il ne peuvent pas faire autrement.

Je viens de faire une autre simulation, au lieu de mettre aéroport j'ai cliqué sur "quai la palma et là effectivement on peut cocher "livraison à l'hôtel". Le prix n'est pas le même de 94€ on passe à 194€

Oups, nos réponses se sont croisées. Je ne suis pas trop étonné, bien que cela soit un argument dans leur présentation. Cela fait quand même, 64km avec le véhicule de location et le double pour le véhicule accompagnateur, pour la conduite et la reprise.

En effet , Fuencaliente est très excentré et l'hôtel lui-même l'est plus encore : je dirais à 20 mn aller pour rejoindre la route principale .
Si je peux me permettre, pourquoi rendre la voiture la veille de votre départ ?
N'est-ce pas chercher les complications ?
J'imagine que vous allez bouger dans l'île : ne sous-estimez pas les distances ; les routes sont des routes de montagne pour la plupart , donc vraiment très sinueuses .
Nous y sommes allés 10 jours , voici déjà pas mal d'années : c'est vraiment l'île idéale pour les randonneurs ! Beaucoup d'anglais et d'allemands , grand ( et gros! ! !) format , bien équipés pour marcher ...
Comme nous avons dû faire qq randonnées accompagnées pour éviter de faire une boucle et reprendre la voiture, la plupart ds autres marcheurs et les guides eux-mêmes me regardaient avec ahurissement et la moquerie n'était pas absente : je n'avais pas le 'look' habituel des marcheurs, là bas, apparemment !
Je suis un 'poids léger' ( très ...) et ils ont bien dû constater que, sur les sentiers escarpés, c'était plutôt un avantage ...
Il y a des balades faciles et d'autres ... très longues et fatigantes, comme la Route des Volcans ( 19 kms et une grosse dénivelée ), partant de Fuencaliente et qui remonte par le centre de l'île .
Avant de vous lancer dans les randos, passez par le Visitor Center pour avoir le plan et qu'on vous précise la météo attendue, sur les 4-5 jours suivants : elle peut être très changeante, selon l'endroit : Nord , Est , ...
Peut-être n'est-ce pas le but premier de vos vacances là bas ? Ce serait dommage cependant de ne pas découvrir certains coins à pied ; le Sud est nettement plus ensoleillé que le Nord et, en général, le matin est meilleur que le reste de la journée !
Quand vous irez à l'observatoire , essayez de le faire un jour clair, sans brouillard : le mieux est de demander au Visitor Center, devant le quel vous allez passer .
Beaucoup d'anglais et d'allemands , grand ( et gros! ! !) format !
Il semblerait que notre amie Brigitte ait du mal à supporter la présence d'anglos-saxons lors de ses découvertes des îles. Les canariens apprécient, eux, tout particulièrement ces autres européens, qui ne regardent pas à la dépense, et les font vivre, même si leur conduite n'est pas toujours exemplaire.
Mais, dans ce cas précis, qd tu vois, à l'hôtel, des gens équipés comme pour faire l'ascension du Mont Blanc et que tu dis : vous allez à ... ? Moi aussi et qu'on te regarde comme une extra - terrestre en te disant : pq n'y allez-vous pas en voiture, avec un peu de ... pitié( ! ), avoue qu'il y a de quoi être un peu vexé !
En général, certains sont même plus polis et moins râleurs que les français ...
Allez, dernier point : as-tu remarqué ( aux Canaries , nous prenions la 1/2 pension par facilité ...), qu'il y avait souvent une file au buffet dès 6 heures de l'ap. midi ? Vers 20 h, grande tranquillité !

C'est sûr, nous n'avons pas le même mode de vie. Ils ne mangent pas la même chose et aux mêmes heures que nous. D'ailleurs ont ils des heures, à la terrasse des brasseries, il y a toujours quelqu'un qui mange quelle que soit l'heure. Et surtout ils boivent, hommes comme femmes, comme on dit, ils ont des descentes que je ne voudrai pas remonter à vélo.
Une nouvelle habitude, le pétillant au petit déjeuner, mais les hôtels y sont pour quelque chose.
As tu remarqué, quand ils se déplacent au bord des piscines, on voit d'abord un bock de bière au bout d'un bras, puis un ventre souvent proéminent, et enfin le reste du corps. 😉
Par contre , je n'ai rien contre un verre de 'pétillant' au petit déjeûner ( 1 seul ! ) ; avec des peufs brouillés et du saumon fumé , ou / et des fruits, miam ...
Au moins , tu es en forme pour la randonnée , ensuite !

Merci de m'avoir répondu, je choisis la facilité de louer une voiture en la prenant à l'hôtel car c'est plus pratique à mon sens car celui ci est dans le sud de lîle et on ne connaitra les horaires de vol que très tard, donc j'aime bien m'organiser et la rendre la veille même argument.

Nous voici bien rentrés de La Palma où nous avons passé un bon séjour! Effectivement l'hôtel était très bien, les piscines spacieuses, la nourriture pas mal malgré le peu de choix au repas du midi où il y avait beaucoup moins de monde.
C'est une île qui gagne à être connue, je ne m'attendais pas à un tel relief. Nous avons bien mis 2h30 pour gagner La Roque de Los Muchachos mais cela valait le déplacement, quel paysage!! Les nuages commençaient déjà à monter dommage, il faut vraiment arriver de bonne heure. Nous n'avons pas pu visiter l'observatoire, pour 4 pers il n'y a pas de visites individuelles, il fallait que l'on fasse partie d'un groupe.
On a fait tout ce que vous m'aviez conseillé sauf le mirador de La cumbréchita, une déception!
Le temps déjà était pluvieux, après 1h30 de route, il aurait fallu attendre 3h30 pour accéder au parking! Arrivés à 10h30 , l'autorisation sur le parking était à 14h! On a préféré abandonner car vu le temps ce n'était pas conseillé, finalement ce jour là on s'est dirigé sur Santa Cruz où il régnait un soleil magnifique! On a fait le tour complet de l'ile, c'était vraiment bien, toutes ces plantations de bananiers! Charco Azul avec ses piscines d'eau de mer, Tazacorte, Puerto Naos, etc.... Bref un bon séjour plein de découvertes. Nous avons préféré cette ile par rapport à Lanzarote.

Merci pour votre compte rendu, c'est toujours un plaisir de voir qu'un séjour s'est bien passé. Vous avez pu découvrir l'essentiel de cette belle île qui ne manque pas de ressources, certes le climat en partie montagneuse peut surprendre et c'est un peu la loterie, mais il suffit de descendre pour retrouver soleil et bonne température.
Ces îles sont différentes et toutes ont un cachet particulier et vous avez encore de quoi faire à l'avenir.
Pour info, Thalassa sur France 3 vendredi soir est consacré aux îles Canaries.

Effectivement, les Canaries sont devenues pour nous une destination annuelle,
3 fois Tenerife, janvier, septembre, octobre, 2 fois Lanzarote, mai, septembre, , 2 fois la Grande Canarie, janvier, septembre, Fuerteventura, janvier, la Palma, janvier.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Hello,
We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
