avec un ami nous aimerions partir à Maurice du 12 au 26 juin 2011
Nous ne souhaitons pas nous installer en hôtel et nous recherchons donc a être logé chez l'habitant durant cette période.
Ce souhait est du pour un aspect certes économique mais aussi parce que nous aimons visiter les pays qe nous traversons de l'intérieur en partageant la vie locale des habitants.
je suis parti 3 mois à l'île Maurice cette année dans le cadre de mes études, j'ai logé au premier étage d'une maison habité par une dame mauricienne, c'était entre Port-Louis et Grand Baie.
si vous le souhaitez il y a un an nous sommes allés à l'ile maurice et ce fut magique.
nous avons écrit un bon plan..avec adresse mail des locaux!

mais pour ne rien cahcer..c'est à grand gaube..chez des gens charmants! et surtout nos guides en voitures ou bateau étaient mauricien et donc pas d'intermédiare!!!!tout le monde y trouve son compte!

C'était à côté de la plage de Baie du tombeau, j'y allais à pied. Quand j'y étais la construction d'un complexe touristique ( hotel villa resto "écologique" lol) était presque terminé.

voilà ce voyage a été fait en janvier 2010
tout d'abord ce que nous pouvons dire c'est que pour patrick et moi cela nous ai revenu à 1500 euro par personnes tout compris.. oui tout c'est à dire :
voyage , location maison , 4 sorties en mer , 1 sortie en voiture dans l'ile , sorties en bus . 2 massages d'1 heure à chaque fois , les repas sans se priver et toutes les boissons (rhum , bierre , vin et eau....) mais aussi tous nos cadeaux et faux frais....
pour le voyage 4 jours avant le départ on a été sur
E.Dreams et on a prix Air Emirates.... 750 euro chacun avec escale à dubai!!! et en plus l'A380 de paris à dubai...super
il y en a qui ont prix air france ou air mauritius si pas d'avantage il faut compter entre 850 et 1400 euros ... et il y a aussi air austral avec escale à la réunion pour 800 à 850 euros
pour la location on a vu avec any mc kay..elle gère 3 ou 4 maisons sur la plage à grand gaube..contactez là de notre part.(.nord est de l'ile)
la maison c'était 90 euros par jour avec Arlette qui nous faisait ménage , course , lavage et repas à la demande...pour 6 personnes mais comme on était 4 Any nous l'a fait à 80 euros par jour à 4....(soit pour nous 2 pour 12-13 jours 500 euros ) en plus elle organise grace à Joel ou daya l'acheminement aéroport- maison à l'aller et le retour + 20 euro!

Any nous a fait connaitre :
samuel à cap malheureux pour 1125 roupis chacun et là Any nous amè, ne à cap malheureux et de là à10h on prends son bateau et via une super ile 'l'ile plate' et là baignade , promenade sur cette ile paradisiaque presque deserte....à midi repas grillade tout compris avec boisson et après midi farniente jusqu'à 16h pour le retour ou any revient nous chercher!!!!
ah oui les roupis ! 1 euro = 40 roupis soit 100 roupis = 2.50 euros soit 1000 roupis = 25 euros
donc cette sortie paradisiaque 28 euros par personne (en hotel ou tour opérateur c'est entre 75 et 120 euros! la journée !)
puis cyril ! ah cyril .il est pêcheur de ourites ( pulpe !) et en plus il prends des touristes et avec son petit bateau il vous amène sur la barrière de corail pour faire 1h30 de plongée en tuba et masque qu'il fournit puis sur une ile trop belle l'ile bernache ou le repas est fait par lui en grillade et on repart vers 16h....trop belle journée des coraux trop beaux et des poissons comme dans un aquarium...il est adorable et serviable et pour le prix de 700 roupis pour la journée tout comprix par personne soit en euros : 18.5 euros !
on l'a repis la semaine d'après et on a vu d'autres fonds marins et on a dejeuner à cap maheureux..trop belle journée encore (pour 700 roupis!)
avec daya ou joel les chauffeurs attitrès d'Any...on a pris joel qui nous a emené sur différents endroit de l'ile :à fisher on a visité le recyclage du verre poiur 100 roupis(2.5 euros!) grand bassin où il y a de grandes fetes indous , le 7 terres qui sont à visiter pour 100 roupis (2.5 euros !) qu'on n'a pas visité car il pleuvait averses le sud de l'ile , une cascade , ect...et un repas typique mauricien à 750 roupis et avec le prix de joel à qui on a offert tous les 4 le repas soit 18 à 19 euros par personne..
et joel pour la journée de nous 4 il a pris 2500 roupis soit par personne 625 roupis soit la journée 1575 roupis soit environ 35 euros . puis joel nous a emené à 'l' ile au cerf pour 1500 roupîs à 4 soit 10 euros..on n'a pas regretté d'y aller car cela s'est fait hors touristes!!! le paysage pour aller sur la cote est -sud trop beau...une super plage 'bellemare' on est arrivé à l'embarquadaire chez Tino et l'a on s'est acquitté chacun de 1500 roupis soit 40-45 euros !et là départ en bateau à réaction vers une cascade magnifique sur un bras de rivière puis débarquement sur l'ile au cerf paradisiaque .. 2h après on revient nous chercher en bateau poiur nbous amener un peu plus loin loin des touristes bruyants et trop nombreux pour manger sous une tente des langoustes....entre autre car apéro , vin ou bierre ou eau à volonté , salade, poulet grillé , poisson grillé et langoustes!! et ananas ou banane flambée!
et à 16h on rembarque et retour en sens inverse..total journée idéale 50 euros par personne au lieu de 120 euros! joelburrun@hotmail.fr
a la maison lorsque vous arrivez de l'aéroport Arlette à cuisiner et fait les course pour vous et elle le marque sur un carnet et de temps en temps vous lui régler la note de la superette , des pecheurs..ect et le tout 200 euros pour 12-13 jours à 4 soit de repas et boissons à gogo ....50 euros par personne..arlette est réglo et il faut juste la briffer afin qu'elle n'achète pas plus que prévu...mais qu'elle est charmante et dévouée..on lui a laissé des affaires , des lunettes ect!!!!
le mari d'Any qui travaille dans un hôtel peut vous prendre à la peche au gros en pleine mer..nous ne l'avons pas fait car pas trop gaillard sur l'eau...apparemment c'est dans les 50-60 euros la journée...ca vaut le coup!
puis sur grand gaube vous avez tout! internet , épicerie , magasin de vetements allez au grans bazar il y a des coups à faire en tee shirt -paréo et robe..la poste
mais surtout il y a sanjou la masseuse indou qui vous masse d'1 façon la séance 1000 roupis ou 900 roupis si vous négociez (soit 20-25 euros l'heure.!!!) et elle est étonnante de doitée..
vous avez des bus pour visitez toute l'ile aussi
ex: pour aller à 7km faire le marché et vos achats et vous baignez dans une ville pas touristique mais vivante..17 roupis l'aller par personne soit 0.30 euros ....a good lands
pour aller à grand baie (trop sympa le marché et la plage coté nors ouest) 26 roupis et le must aller à port louis la capitale 70 roupis !
Pour les courses négociez jusqu'à 3 fois - cher.. casquette on les a acheté à 100 roupis , paréo de 150 à 250 roupis , tee shirt 100 à 150 roupis , robe 250 à 350 roupis, lunette de soleil de marque (sans doute des copis) 250 roupis ! ect...c'ets le paradis..les claquettes 100 à 200 roupis mesdames ensemble soutien gorge culotte très séxy ! 120 à 200 roupis...maillot de bain 300 roupis
alors bonne vacances et n'hésitez pas à nous demander d'autres choses si vous pensez que j'ai oublié des choses..

voilà ce voyage restera pour nous inoubliable grace aux gens rencontrés, à l'organisation impeccable de Any et à tout ce qu'on a pu faire en 13 jours avec des moyens plus que raisonnables..

coucou , bonsoir les amoureux lol le voyage je l avais reserver a l agence de voyage thomas cook a l époque le prix etait pas cher 9 jours 7 nuit a cela il fallait rajouter le trajet pour allet jusqu a paris d ou je suis partis ça m est revenue a 5000 fr a l époque alors qu aujourd hui c pas moins de 1500 euros par personne honnétement je ne me rappel plus avec quelle tours opérateur je suis partis l hotel c etait le severin see lodge magnifique mais je ne sais pas si il existe toujours le mieux et d aller voir une agence de voyage et la vous aurez tout les renseignements et les tarifs mais précisez bien que vous voulez faire un safari moi je suis partis o mois d octobre temps chaud et magnifique j espere que vous me raconterez je vous contacterais pour des renseignements pour qq pays que vous avez fait bonne soirée veronique

Three years after exploring northern Argentina and Chile, my two travel buddies and I want to discover the southern part of these two countries.
We’re traveling on a budget, backpacker-style, favoring public transport and modest accommodations, but we don’t hesitate to splurge a little when it’s worth it.
The classic spots that have been fueling our dreams: Bariloche, the lakes, Chiloé, El Chaltén, Torres del Paine, Perito Moreno, El Calafate, Fitz Roy, Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, and wrapping up in Valparaíso.
We’ll take a round-trip flight to Santiago, then I’m thinking of a one-way flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. From there, we’ll explore and do several day hikes in the south, including Ushuaia and, if possible, Tierra del Fuego.
Then we’ll head back north by bus to Bariloche and the lakes, followed by Chiloé, then a bus to Santiago and Valparaíso.
Based on your experience, could you help me figure out the best way to structure this trip and maybe suggest some ideas?

We’re a young couple planning to travel to South Africa after spending about three weeks in Namibia. We’ll arrive in Cape Town around mid-December, with no fixed travel duration (though our budget will eventually set a limit).
After browsing through the forum, we’ve realized the country is packed with incredible spots, which makes choosing an itinerary tough. We’re looking for stunning landscapes, hikes, and so on. So, we’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
When we arrive in Cape Town, we’d like to settle in and take it easy until New Year’s, exploring at a relaxed pace. We know this period coincides with South African holidays—does that make finding accommodations (availability/prices) more difficult? Do you think it’s possible to stay in a nice place for about 15 days without aiming for the most upscale neighborhoods? Maybe somewhere a bit outside Cape Town, like Fish Hoek, and just visit the city occasionally.
After that, we’ll have plenty of time (about 2 to 2.5 months) to explore the country. We’d like to take our time. In your opinion, is it better to focus on the Cape Town region, or is it reasonable to consider more distant areas like the Drakensberg or Blyde River Canyon? Can everything be done by car if we take our time, or are domestic flights sometimes more practical?
Budget-wise, how much do car rentals cost? For accommodations, we usually look at Airbnb—are they affordable in South Africa? What’s the average nightly rate outside the biggest cities? Are there other platforms you’d recommend for saving on lodging?
Finally, regarding safety, are there any regions to avoid besides Johannesburg?
We know this is a lot of questions, but we’re still in the early planning stages!

After exploring southern Peru in 2024 with your help, we’d love to head north next. There’ll be 5 or 6 of us:
1. Arrive in Lima in the evening.
2. Visit Lima and take a flight at 6:35 PM to Tarapoto.
3, 4, 5. Spend a few days there to trek in a reserve (Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve) or somewhere else.
6. From Tarapoto to Chachapoyas—either by overnight bus, daytime bus, or private car.
7. In Chachapoyas: Gocta Waterfall, Sonche Canyon, and walk back to town.
8. Head to Kuelap citadel, Revash, and arrive in Leymebamba.
9. Leymebamba museum, then route to Cajamarca.
10. Cajamarca hot springs, overnight bus to Trujillo or Chiclayo—or do both.
11, 12, 13. Visit and explore the area.
14. Overnight bus back to Lima.
15. Lima.
16. Depart at 8 PM for France.

I’d like to drive to Morocco from Paris via Spain. I was really surprised to see the ferry crossing prices—around 500 €—but especially the crossing time (about 1 hour). Normally, I pay 3000 € to go to Tunisia from Genoa, but that’s for a 24-hour crossing.
My question: is it cheaper to buy the ticket on the spot, as some Moroccans have advised me? Though I’ve also heard the opposite.

I’m planning a 10-day trip to Slovenia in May (9–19 May) and starting to look at accommodations. Unfortunately, I’m only seeing relatively expensive options—nothing under 50 €, and usually around 100–150 €. Traveling solo, that could quickly blow my budget. And 30 € for a bed in a 10-person dorm at a youth hostel feels like a rip-off...

I’d like to know if it’s better to book the entire stay in Nice and take day trips to the villages, or if there are villages worth spending at least one night in to really explore them properly?

I’m diving into planning a trip I’ve dreamed of for a long time: crossing Africa from North to South solo, with a departure planned for October 2025 for about 8-9 months. I’m leaving from Paris with a starting budget of around 7,000 €, aiming to supplement it with work along the way.
My planned route: Senegal → Gambia → Sierra Leone/Liberia (if logistics work out) → Côte d'Ivoire → Ghana → Togo → Benin → Cameroon → Gabon → Kenya (Masai Mara) → Uganda (Bwindi gorillas) → Rwanda → Tanzania (Kili + Serengeti + Zanzibar) → Mozambique → Malawi → Zambia (Victoria Falls) → Botswana → Namibia → South Africa (Cape Town). Madagascar as a bonus if timing/budget allows from Mozambique.
I’m not a backpacking newbie—I’ve done several trips in Europe and I’m familiar with the lifestyle, hostels, local transport, etc. But Africa is my first big adventure on this continent, and I’ve got some very concrete questions I’d love feedback on from people who’ve been there.
🎭 My big dilemma: flexibility vs. pre-organized work
What matters most to me is NOT rushing through. If I feel good somewhere, I’ll stay longer. If a region doesn’t click, I’ll cut it short. That seems totally incompatible with having pre-booked work or volunteer gigs, yet I need that income to stretch my budget.
I’m torn between two approaches:
Option A: The mixed rhythm: 3-4 weeks of volunteering in a country (free accommodation, full immersion), then 1-2 countries in classic backpacker "vacation" mode, then another mission somewhere, etc. This gives a breathing rhythm and avoids burnout from non-stop volunteering.
Option B: The continuous flow: finding gigs as I go, from the previous country, contacting hosts 2-3 weeks in advance with a flexible date range. Keeping maximum spontaneity but never arriving anywhere without a safety net.
Have you tried either? What actually works on the ground in Africa?
🌍 What I’m really looking for in this trip
Not just the classic tourist spots. I want to see the country as it is—eating at local joints, taking local transport (bush taxis, minibuses, sept-places), staying with locals when possible. The big reserves and safaris are part of the plan (Masai Mara, Serengeti, Okavango), but just as much as hanging out in a residential neighborhood in Dakar, understanding how people really live.
Volunteering or work interests me for that reason too (not just for free lodging, but because it’s the deepest way to dive into a country). Working at a school in Ghana, a lodge in Kenya, a permaculture farm in Mozambique—I see it as an immersion that classic tourism can’t offer.

About Workaway and Worldpackers: I’ve read a lot but would love on-the-ground feedback, especially for West and East Africa. Are hosts really flexible with dates for long-term travelers? Do the advertised gigs match reality? Are there alternative platforms you’d recommend for Africa specifically (I’ve heard of Help Exchange, WWOOF Africa, local networks…)?
About "off-platform" jobs: Is it really doable to find informal work on the spot (bars, restaurants, lodges) without prior contacts? In which countries/cities is this most accessible for a French speaker without a local work permit?
About logistics between countries: For those who’ve done the West Coast (Senegal → Ghana → Benin), how did you cross borders? Direct buses or local shared taxis at each border? And for the jump from Central Africa → Kenya, is a flight mandatory, or are there feasible overland routes?

We’ve got a budget of 8,000 €, and I was thinking of doing three or four days of safari and three or four days in Zanzibar, but even that seems like it might be over budget. Have you got any thoughts? I was also considering heading straight to Zanzibar and doing a one- or two-day excursion by plane instead—maybe that’d be cheaper than staying in a lodge.

Now, after seeing and reading a bit everywhere, and with the first quotes for a 6/7-day safari, I’m shocked by the prices (like $2,250) for places like Maasai Mara, where entry alone costs $200 per person per day, plus fees for the driver and vehicle.
So if you have any recent great tips or contacts to share to help me out, I’d really appreciate it—because despite the costs, we’d still love to go, while keeping things reasonable.
The most plausible solution is probably renting a vehicle with a driver-guide.
