Is this doable by public transport? Next, from Ouarzazate, I’d like to go to Tagounit or M’hamid. Same question—is public transport feasible? I’d like to plan a week of "sun-soaked" relaxation in March, and based on my budget, I was thinking of Morocco—specifically Essaouira. I’ve got a few questions, just in case I’m getting the wrong idea about my trip: Do you know what the average weather is like at that time of year? Without going as far as swimming, is it still possible to enjoy the sunshine on walks or lounging on a deck chair? Since I’ve never been to Essaouira, is it a nice place to stay for a week (mixing sightseeing and relaxation)? Are the beaches pretty? Would you happen to know any addresses (like guesthouses or lodges) offering half-board or full-board, in a quiet spot? (With a garden to relax in, ocean views, or even a pool—fingers crossed!) At reasonable prices? (I have no idea what the price ranges are in Morocco.)

Hello, I’m looking for a retailer that carries the Morocco maps by Huber Kartographie, from the *marokko-erfahren* collection at 1/120,000 scale. I’ve found most of them at Le Vieux Campeur and La Compagnie des Cartes, but I’m missing the following sheets: J13 / N10 / 012, and neither of these retailers can supply them. Online, I only ever find the maps I already own, not these specific numbers. Could any of you point me in the right direction? Or maybe recommend another collection? Even with a GPS, I always prefer paper maps—they’re so much more "expressive." Thanks! Dominique

During our last trip in October, we shared some great moments in these three homes.

In Aït Benhadou at the TIGUAMI KHADIJA hostel, the house is very well furnished. Khadija is charming, speaks French, German, Berber, and Arabic fluently. She enjoys spending time with her guests and cooks very well—even the jams are homemade.

In Skoura, at the KASBAH LA PALMERAIE guesthouse, the welcome is always warm, and Ghizlane’s cooking is just as delicious: vegetable and meat rice, seffa, sardine meatballs... And the almond tree valley is still just as beautiful.

In Amellago, at Moha’s place, we were touched by the quality of the welcome, the unique charm of the house with its farm, the homemade butter, the beehives on the terrace, and the really interesting conversations with the two brothers. Plus, the region is stunning!

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’ll be late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was a constant 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.

For southern Morocco, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but for those who’ve been there in early July, did it cause any major issues? Otherwise, I’ll start thinking of another destination.

Here’s the rough itinerary I had in mind, renting a car for the whole trip:

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech late morning Day 2: Marrakech Day 3: Marrakech -> Aït Ben Haddou -> Ouarzazate Day 4: Ouarzazate -> Vallée des Roses -> Dadès Gorges Day 5: Dadès Gorges -> Tinghir -> Todra Gorges -> Erfoud Day 6: Erfoud -> Merzouga (Erg Chebbi desert) Day 7: Merzouga -> Ouarzazate Day 8: Ouarzazate -> seaside? Agadir or Essaouira Day 9: ?? Day 10: ?? Day 11: Return to Marrakech and flight back late afternoon

Is this schedule too rushed? Does Ouarzazate deserve an extra night? The seaside isn’t a must, as long as we can swim somewhere—pool or lake. We’re planning activities like horseback riding, camel treks, quad biking, and jeep tours.

I want to travel with my little family (by car, not 4x4) from Taliouine to Tafraoute—it's a route I haven't taken yet (I've already done the one via Igherm), and I don't know the condition of the R106 road. Then, once that's done, our destination will be Zagora via Foum Zguid. I don’t want to go to Tata; my wife can’t stand that city. (I don’t mind because there’s a little local bar that’s not bad ;)) If you have any info, especially about the road conditions in October, I’d really appreciate it.

Hi everyone, I know there are some *reaaaal* Morocco experts here, so I’m giving it a shot. Early June, we’re heading back to the country for the third time for a little week-long trip. We’ll arrive and depart from Essaouira, where we’ll rent a car to drive south down to roughly Sidi Ifni. The plan is to make short stops of 2-3 hours max, a mix of coastal spots and a bit inland. We’re looking for natural, quiet places that feel untouched. We loved Taghazout years ago and Larache two years back—just to give you an idea of our vibe. What spots would you recommend along this route? I’m tempted by Paradise Valley but worried it’ll be as crowded as Agadir. What do you think? Any other valleys in the area worth the detour? I’m planning to cycle part of Morocco during the first three weeks of December. I’ll be traveling self-sufficiently, with a tent and all the gear.

Since I don’t know Morocco at all, I’m reaching out to get some help planning a nice route. For now, I’m thinking of going from Tangier to Agadir, but that’s not set in stone, and I’m especially unsure about which way to go. I’ve heard about the N1, but I’m not afraid of unpaved roads and would really prefer to avoid cars!

I’m mostly looking for wild spots and beautiful landscapes. I can handle some elevation gain, but I’m not sure about snow cover and temperatures. I’m okay with running into a little snow (not too much, though...) and camping in temperatures as low as -2°C.

Do you have any routes or waypoints to recommend? My goal isn’t to cross the country as fast as possible, so I’m open to detours. I’d also love to take a few days off the bike to cross a bit of desert by camel or do a mountain excursion... preferably toward the end so I can be more relaxed with timing. So if you have any specific suggestions like that, don’t hesitate to share!

I saw that the guide *Sur les pistes du Maroc* by Gandini is often recommended, but there are 7 volumes available on Amazon! That’s a bit overwhelming.

We went to Morocco in April with our children and grandchildren. We landed in Marrakech around 9 AM and took a bus to our small hotel in the Guéliz district. This was to avoid dealing with taxi drivers who might give our young travelers a very negative impression of Marrakech... The bus drops us off very close to the Hôtel Toulousain, which has always given us the warmest welcome for over 25 years. We settle into our rooms and head to the medina to have lunch first and then wander through the streets of the old city, introducing it to our little group.



Young and old alike are amazed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the work done by the various artisans.



The souks also impress first-time visitors, both with their size and the sheer amount of goods on offer. For those visiting for the first time, it’s a real maze. Colorful chameleons everywhere... Will they survive for long in their cages under the scorching sun? Another surprise for the kids: the lollipop vendor in Jemaa El Fna Square, with giant lollipops that really whet their appetites...



By late afternoon, little legs are tired, and horse-drawn carriages are a welcome way to get back to the hotel.

Hi there! I’m currently planning a 9-day route starting from Marrakech with my husband. We land on the morning of June 13th—so soon! 😊 And we’re flying back to France on June 21st at 9 PM! We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s. This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍

In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.

For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day. Here’s the idea: Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15) Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34) Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe) Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h) Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45) Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45) Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20) Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22) Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43) End of the trip 😮.

We haven’t booked any hotels—is that a problem? We were thinking of deciding day by day based on our progress.

Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?

I’m planning a road trip to Morocco in about a month. I’ve read quite a few discussions, posts, comments, and travel journals that have helped me prepare, but I still need your valuable input. The north seems easier to plan. It’s the south that’s got me wondering.

The plan: - 20 days in the south solo, going off the beaten path (looking for simplicity, encounters, discovery, and breathtaking views) - 10 days in the north with my wife and her 8-year-old daughter (so more coastal, some sightseeing—more "classic") When: August (I know it’s not the best time, but no choice) Duration: 20 days in the south + 10 days in the north (might seem short) Distance: 3,000 km in the south over 20 days. Rental vehicle to be decided (4x4?) (I’ve done a Portugal road trip from Lille—5,000 km in 3 weeks—and Italy several times, usually around 4,000–5,000 km in 3 weeks).

Route (I need to plot this on a map like Maps.me or Google...): Start in Marrakech -> Tinmelt -> Icht -> M’hamid El Ghizlane -> Agdz -> Khamlia -> Errachidia -> Tinghir -> Imilchil -> Boulmane Dadès -> Ouarzazate -> Telouet -> Demnate -> Arousse -> Ahansal Gorges -> Tilouguite -> Bin El Ouidane -> Oued El Abid Gorges -> Ouzoud Waterfalls -> Marrakech

On paper, this all seems "doable"... I’ve never been to Morocco before. It’s my first time. I’ve heard that Morocco is best experienced "slowly and peacefully," taking your time. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these points—that’s the whole point!

Avoid the car rental company "locationauto" No one was there when we arrived at the airport—we waited 1 hour for someone to pick us up and take us outside the airport. The vehicle... 97,000 km!!!! Dirty inside and out, stained seats. Return was the same—1.5-hour wait to drop off the car. Sure, it’s cheap, but you get what you pay for!!!
