Je souhaiterai avoir l'avis de ceux qui connaissent vraiment la réalité sur le paludisme à Palawan car je li un peu tout et son contraire sur le net. Certains disent que le paludismen ne sévit que dans le sud de Palawan, d'autre sur toute l'ïle ???? Ou commence le sud de Palawn : à partir de Puerto Princessa ???? Qu'en est il réellement ? Je vous pose la question car j'ai une possibilité de me rendre à Palawan avec ma femme et notre petit garçon de 15 mois mais je ne veux prendre aucun risque quant au paludisme pour notre petit.
Quelqu'un pourrait il me confirmer que le paludisme est inéxistant entre Purto Princessa et El Nido ?

Il y a du palu à Palawan, certaines zones sont fortement impaludées, d'autres moins mais je ne pense pas qu'on puisse dire qu'il y a des zones totalement sans palu.
Je suis allé dans un village proche de Puerto Princesa où beaucoup d'habitants sont touchés par le palu.
il sera plus prudent de mettre plus d'anti moustique que dans certaines regions , le traitement contre le palu ou malaria est fortement conseille dans cette zone
En complément du précédant thread: Je suis allé deux fois à palawan avec ma fille lorsqu'elle avait 6 mois et 1 an et demi (j'y vais à peu près tous les ans). Le problème que tu vas rencontrer c'est que 15 mois c'est un peu jeune pour les antimoustiques au DEET (les seuls vraiment efficaces). La solution qu'on avait choisi c'est d'apporter une moustiquaire + antimoustique vêtement sur le pyjama. Si tu veux en plus un anti-paludéen, le malarone est dispo pour les jeunes enfants depuis 2007 (voir avec ton pédiatre pour les dosages).

je peux juste te témoingner que j ai vécu deux experiences en 2006 et 2009 au nord de palawan, dont une traversée en moto , je nai pas rencontré un moustique et jamais utilisé comme tout le monde d'Ailleurs ici, expats , résidents et voyageurs de traitement anti PALLU;

j'ai fait plusieurs séjours de plusieurs mois (de janv à avril) à PALWAN, , sans prendre de traitament, et je n'est jamais contracté le palu.
Cependant je voyage aujourd'hui avec mes 2 jeunes enfants et préfère choisir des pays avec un risque de malaria moindre que palawan.
Car la-bas tout les philippins que je connais ont deja eu la palu.
Lors de mon premier voyage, le bébé d'un voisin philippin en est mort. C'est donc particulièrement dangereux pour les enfants.
Alors c'est sûr que de février à mai (saison sèche), en évitant de dormir dans les montagnes couvertes de jungle, en mettant du produit anti moustic et en dormant sous une moustiquaire, le risque de palu est très faible.
Mais cela est contraignant d'autant qu'un voyage à palawan est plein d'imprévu.
ex : vous partez une journée en bateau "islands hopping" et au lieu de rentrer le soir vous dormez sur une ile pour une raisin imprévu :
- le captain a bu 2L de tanduay pendant que vous vous baignez et est trop bourré pour rentrer
- le captain vous invite à dormir chez son frère qui habite sur une ile paradisique, et ça vous tente bien. Mais vous avez oublié la moustiquaire pour le petit.
- la mer est devenue trop dangereuse pour rentrer avec votre petite banca
- vous avez bu avec le captain, son frère et ses potes, et la mer est trop mauvaise
- etc........
Personellement je rêve d'y retourner mais je ne prends pas de risque pour les enfants.
Pourquoi ne pas aller plutôt dans les visayas et vers sagada(montagnes sculpté de rizières) ou les risques sont nettement moins importants

D'après les études du doh, sur l'ensemble de Palawan: 1000 infections/an, une dizaine de décès. 2/3 des cas pendant la saison des pluies, 1/3 pendant la saison sèche. Eradication complète prévue vers 2015/2020.
Perso je me contente d'un bon anti-moustique. Par contre pour ma fille là effectivement risque zéro: antimoustique + vêtement longs + prophylaxie. A chacun de prendre des risques en connaissance de cause. Les expats te diront zéro risque parce qu'ils ont des intérêts économiques là bas, les plus paranos n'oseront pas y aller. Pour moi la bonne réponse est entre les deux: pas de parano, ni de risques inutiles.
😎 Palawan est une île extraordinaire, le palu est peu être encore présent dans le sud de l'île mais pas de souci entre Puerto et El Nido. Ne pas rater Sinizu Island dans l'Archipel de Bacuit ... We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
