Je pars dans une semaine en turquie avec des turcs, et compte y rester 15 jours. Je dois ensuite rejoindre un ami libanais à Beyrouth et je me suis dit que je passerais par Damas, car il paraît que c'est magnifique et très agréable. Il y a juste un pb de base auquel je suis confronté. Je n'ai pas de visa syrien et je n'ai pas le tps de l'attendre (15/20 jours) à Paris car je pars la semaine prochaine.
Or j'ai vu qu'il était très compliqué d'en obtenir un à la frontière.
Je voudrais donc savoir s'il existe une procédure pour un visa de passage (je ne reste que deux jours à damas), que je pourrai obtenir en turqui ou à la frontière. Si vous avez des éléments de réponse je vous remercie mille fois d'avance

C'est visa, parfois délivré à la frontière, mais pas de sous visa spécial.
Un visa de transit ? Je ne sais pas.
Je pense que c'est plus facile de tenter une réduction de la durée de l'obtention à l'ambassade parisienne que d'avoir un visa à l'entrée du pays...
Pour tenter une entrée sans visa sur le passeport, il faut peut-être voir plus du coté terrestre aux postes entre turquie et syrie qu'à l'arrivée à l'Aéroport !

Je me permets de vous faire observer que normalement seuls les résidents en Turquie peuvent faire ainsi ; les français résidents français doivent en théorie obtenir leur visa en France... Souvent il semble que cela se fasse aussi à la frontière, mais sans garantie.
Je suis de nationalité Française et c'est ce que j-ai fait pour avoir le droit de rester 3 mois de + en Turquie Ambassade de Syrie a Ankara.

Oui, il est possible d'avoir le visa à la frontière mais cela prend du temps.
Mon visa était périmé et j'en ai eu un nouveau à la frontière.
Je connais un Belge qui n'en avait pas et l'a obtenu à la douane.
Il faut le payer en devise locale, donc faire le change, puis faire la file et patienter qu'on recopie votre passeport en arabe sur une fiche et sur un PC
Il faut remplir une fiche déclarant qu'on n'a jamais été ni pour but d'aller en territoire palestinien occupé (Israël) Le visa est refusé s'il y a dans le passeport un cachet même égyptien ou jordanien d'un passage en Israël.
Le vendeur de ticket de bus vérifie en général les passeports car ils ne veulent pas perdre une heure en plus de la normale à la frontière. Il vaut mieux passer en taxi si on n'a pas de visa. Moi, ils n'avaient pas vu que le visa était périmé mais le douanier bien. Le chauffeur m'a suggéré de lui glisser discrètement un billet pour qu'il le remette au douanier pour accélérer le processus, ce que je l'ai vu faire et ce quii a été apprécié et a fait passer mon dossier au-dessus des autres.
Se souvenir qu'il y a aussi une taxe à la sortie du pays à payer en livres syriennes..
En Belgique, l'ambassade délivre les visas en huit jours.
Nous sommes actuellement a Istanbul. Nous croyons naivement qu'il etait aise de choper le Visa Syrien a la frontiere (on a un ami a Dams qui i;nsiste pour nous recevoir :D et parait-il les visas iranien et Paki sont faciles a avoir la bas)...
Plus d'une heure à la frontière, et visa à 50 à 69 € selon durée, ce n'est pas donné et 100 livres syriennes glissées pour accélérer le processus...
Billet de 100 mis à part, c'est aussi ce que ça coûte de faire le visa à l'avance. Au moins.
Mais le prix varie selon la nationalité et la durée du séjour et surtout si le passeport est rédigé en caractères arabes.

Les Syriens considèrent juste qu'arabe, ce n'est pas vraiment étranger. C'est du panarabisme tardif.
De toutes façons le visa ainsi à la frontière est sans aucune garantie. Une faveur qui peut très bien être provisoire.

a quelle ville frontalıere cote turc es-tu passe pour aller en syrie? Sinon je suis preneur pour tout hebergement a damas, je suis etudiant en histoire et cette ville m2intrigue beaucoup
Je suis passé plusieurs fois, une fois en début de soirée sur la route partant de Ganziatep, à 6 km après Kilis vers Azzaz et Alep, et il y avait très peu de monde. Les douaniers syriens (des militaires???) étaient d'une grande amabilité.
Une autre fois sur la route partant d'Antioche et c'était la cohue en fin de matinée et un nombre épouvantable de camions qui heureusement se tiennent sur la droite de la route et se laissent doubler sur leur gauche. Le trafic des autos y est également abondant. Forcément, cela fait perdre du temps. Là, mon visa était périmé... Aie!
Damas est une ville où j'ai trouvé que les hôtels modernes sont assez chers, beaucoup plus qu'à Alep (que je préfère) ou à Palmyra qui est absolument à visiter! Les transports en bus sont très peu coûteux mais se méfier des taxis (en principe aux tarifs dérisoires mais qui arnaquent parfois les étrangers en faisant par exemple des dizaines de kilomètres alors qu'on se trouve à quelques centaines de mètres....)
J'avais un visa périmé et en ai obtenu un autre sur place mais je cponnais un autre Belge qui est parti en vélo sans le visa et l'a obtenu à la douane. Mais je répète que l'on gagne du temps à l'obtenir avant son départ.
j'ai vecu a alep de 2003 à 2007 et pour pouvoir entrer en Syrie il fallait absolument avoir le visa. Mais, petit à petit, cela s'est assoupli : on pouvait acheter son visa en venant de turquie soit au poste frontiere de Bab el Haw (en provenance d'Antioche) soit à celui d'Azzaz (en provnance de Gaziantep)...
Le probleme, c'est que rien n'est jamais acquis en Syrie. Si vous n'avez pas de visa, faites le naif (ah bon, je dois en avoir un avant de rentrer en Syrie, je ne savais pas...) et n'hesitez pas à chouiner (ah mais je dois absolument aller à Damas ou Alep, bla bla bla)... Cela fonctionne sans trop de probleme MAIS il faut etre tres patient, cela peut prenre plusieurs heures (2-3 heures).
Si vous passez avec un taxi pris à Gaziantep (ils sont le lus souvent à l'aeroport en dehors de la ville ou a la gare routiere), cela va plus vite car les chauffeurs syriens ou turcs ont l'habitude et connaissent les douaniers "compétents" : cela vous coutera le prix du visa (qui varie selon la nationalité) + un bakhchich...
Si vous ne souhaitez pas galérer, le plus simple : Istanbul - Gaziantep en avion (pour moins de 40 euros et une heure de vol) + taxi pour Alep avec un visa obtenu aupres de l'ambassade de Syrie en France.
Derniere chose : tout ce que je vous signale ici est susceptible de changer tres vite : cela depend du(des) douanier(s) + des decisions prises par l'etat syrien pour renforce sa securité ou non... Bref, soyez patients !!!
Le visa tu la rapidement a la frontiere syrienne celle pres dAntakya et en direction dAlep. Le Visas coute 9 dollars (pour une duree maximun de 3 jours. visa de transit) renseigne toi bien au niveau des tarifs parqu'il ne sont pas afficher.
La taxe de sortie est d'environ 12 E.
le Visa est rapide a avoir sauf si tu est americain ou ta le tampon d'Israel sur ton passeport.
Si tu na pas de visa Syrien au prealable ne prend pas le train parqu'il partira sans toi. Tu peu prendre des taxis a partir d'Antakya les prıx varient fortement pour un trajet Antakya-Alep vers la fin de journee tu peu les negocier a 5 € parce que les taxis rentre chez eu a Alep ne met pas plus de 10€ dans cetrajet.

Lorsqu'on lit ces remarques sur la frontière Syrienne on est dégouté ! Comment éviter la Syrie ? Si l'on veut impérativement aller à Sharm ? En voiture privée car je déteste l'arnaque de douanniers corrompus !

Pour donner une info recente, on peut passer de Turquie en Syrie sans probleme par Nusaybin en Turquie.
- La semaine derniere, nous nous sommes rendus a pied au poste (9h).
- Le passage de frontiere cote turc coute 5 Lires turques (pour tout le monde).
- Une fois au poste syrien, un joli sourire, 19 euros et deux tampons plus tard, nous etions a Qamishle, en Syrie. !!! On a eu droit au the et a une dizaine de "Welcome to Syria" !!
Voila, nous avions aucune information avant de l avoir fait, et nous voulions vous donner un petit retour d experience. Qamishle est une ville tres sympa (le marche aux poules !), essentiellement kurde.
Oui nous avons paye 5 Lires turques, comme tout le monde d ailleurs. L officier nous a file un ticket de recu, et tu devais le presenter avant de sortir du pays. Voila. Au passage, nous venons de realiser une extension de visa syrien de 30 jours, a Damas en 1heure et 2 photocopies !

La bonne surprise, c est que nous avons reussi a avoir notre visa syrien a la frontiere turque, depuis Qamishle, en moins de deux heures et avec un cafe et des chocolats en bonus!! :)
Oui ca peut sembler bizarre mais c etait le cas. En tout cas tout le monde le faisait. Ce poste frontiere coupe un village kurde en deux parties : Nusaybin pour le cote turc, Qamishle pour le cote syrien. Beaucoup de kurdes passent cette frontiere frequemment, pour se rendre d un village a l autre. Voila. Apres tout ce qu on avait vu sur le visa syrien a la frontiere, nous sommes bien contents d avoir realises nos demarches sans encombres, en esperant que cet article pourra rendre service aux voyageurs qui veulent rendre visite aux kurdes.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
