Je pars avec mon ami au Maroc courant mai 2014. C’est un voyage de « découverte » et nous aimerions nous débrouiller « local » c’est-à-dire sans guide ou pas tout le temps.. . Mon projet de voyage est le suivant :
16 mai : Arrivée à Marrakech 13 h 30 - location d’un voiture (4x4 ?) direction Ouarzazate ou/et plus exactement la ville de Skoura ou dans un hôtel dans la vallée du Dadès pour y dormir…. La ville de Keelat M’Gouna est-elle accessible pour dormir ? trop loin ?
Y a-t-il un hôtel sympa ou une maison d’hôte agréable et bon marché ?
Cela ne fait-il pas trop loin ni trop long d’un point de vue route et fatigue ?
17 mai : direction la vallée des roses…. M’Gouna, les kasbas et visite si possible d’un village berbère….avec contact avec l’habitant et pourquoi pas la prise d’un thé à la menthe avec eux… ?
Mais sans guide cela est-il possible ?
Difficile de trouve des cartes précises concernant les pistes à suivre…
Continuer la route Jusqu’à Todgha. Peut-être marcher un peu… ?
Quels sont vos conseils ?
18 mai : en route pour Merzouga et les dunes magiques de l’erg Chebbi… marche dans le désert ou dos de dromadaire et nuit en bivouac dans le désert.
Comment l’organiser ? Les agences semblent nous voir venir de loin..(ce qui est le cas ! sourire) et les prix pour ces excursions sont très chères..
Connaissez-vous un guide sympa et pratiquant des prix corrects ? je suis preneuse !
19 mai : retour à Marrakech et visite de la ville pendant deux jours et repos…
21 et 22 mai : départ pour Essaouira et visite de la ville, plage etc…
22 mai en fin d’après-midi retour pour Marrakech pou départ tôt le 23 au matin.
Quelqu’un peut-il me dire si mon projet et viable, s’il est réalisable facilement ??? si je loupe quelque chose ??? Me donner d’autres infos nécessaires auxquelles je n’aurais pas pensé …. ?

En arrivant sur Marrakech à 13h30, vous ne quitterez l'aéroport que vers 14h30, le temps de récupérer la voiture encore une petite demi-heure dtone il sera 15h quand vous pourrez quitter Marrakech .À votre place , je ferai ma 1ère étape à Ait Benhadou , le site est à voir, autant en profiter tant qu'à passer si près .
Le le demain, je filerai sur Tineghir , voir sa belle palmeraie et les gorges de Todra toutes proches.
Puis, jour suivant , e n route pour Merzouga , il faut y arriver autour de 16-17h si vous voulez aller en bivouac .
Au retour , une nuit dans le Dadès en rentrant sûr Marrakech .
Tout ça représente beaucoup de route, maïs le 4x4 n'est pas utile, c'est du goudron tout le parcours .
tu n'a que 7 jours je crois si tu veut mon conseille et seulement si c'est ton premier voyage ?? passe deux journée a Marrakech apres tu peut partir a essaouira pour deux jour ou meme un seul apres prend la route vers agadir ca seras pénible de prendre la route dés votre arrivé vers le sud !!Ca depend si c'est ton premier voyage
Evidemment qu'on ne peux pas tout voir en huit jours. J'essaie de privilégier "les choses" qui me tiennent à cœur en premier lieu... Je reviendra une autre fois pour approfondir mes connaissances touristiques...

je disais un jour de plus dans les vallées, car je suis sure que tu en auras envie et je sais qu'un jour à Essaouira suffit (mais ensuite on a envie d'y retourner ... c'est sur)
mais il faut s'écouter soi-même avant tout .....
prendre du temps par exemple pour aller marcher un peu dans les gorges du des (montagne des doigts de singe), te promener dans la palmeraie de Tinherir, qui est très belle, ou bien t'arrêter un peu le long du draa : tamegroute par exemple vaut la visite : les vieux manuscrtis du petit musée, les potiers et surtout aller le long du draa par la palmeraie, c'est très joli.
ou au retour : aller sur la rive droite (sens de l'oued) dans les villages et palmeraie, de l'autre coté par rapport à la route, entre zagora et agdz.
Je suis d'accord avec Jeeaan pour Aït Benhaddou et tout le reste du parcours aussi....il va être difficile en arrivant dans l'ap.-midi à Marraekech d'aller au-delà d'Aït Benhaddou.....et c'est super d'arriver là-bas juste avant le coucher du soleil....j'ai testé l'Auberge Ayouze - super !..mais, venant de Telouet, elle est à 3km AVANT Aït Benhaddou.
mais avec une voiture de location, pas de problème....

After many trips to the south of Fès, I’m giving the north a try.
My plan is roughly to do a road trip loop from Rabat back to Rabat, passing through Asilah, Tangier, Tétouan, Chefchaouen, Akchour, Fès, Meknès, and Volubilis.
That’s a lot of cities.
Probably a bit too many for our taste—we usually prefer more isolated spots...
So I’m looking for tips on little backroads, secluded beaches, half-day hikes, and offbeat places.
If you’ve also got recommendations for accommodation... (We’re open to splurging over 100 € if it’s a real favorite.)

I’ve started making a few pre-bookings for hotels and apartments to rent in Algiers. At first, I received friendly and welcoming responses. Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through the process about the accommodation attestation required for the visa application:
- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’m leaving for Tunisia in five weeks for a full 15-day trip. I’ll be arriving in Monastir and departing from there as well.
I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

Even though I come to Morocco four times a year, it’s been a long time since I’ve made the trip by car. I need to refresh my knowledge! I’ll be traveling in early October. I have a car that’s about 20 years old. The plan is to cross via Algeciras/Ceuta.

1) Does this crossing still exist? If so, do I need to buy the ticket in advance or on the spot? From whom? Any advice is welcome!

Just so you know, I’m planning to do this trip solo (25 years old), using only public transport and just a backpack. I’ve already been to Marrakech and climbed Mount Toubkal two years ago...
I’ll be arriving in Tangier.
Day 1-2: Explore the city center, hike around Cap Spartel...
Day 3: Stop in Tetouan
Day 4-5-6: Chefchaouen and a day hike in the Rif Mountains
Day 6-7: Discover the city of Fes (I’ve heard so many great things!!)
Day 8: Stop in Meknes and possibly visit the historic site of Volubilis
Day 9-10: Rabat (I’ve heard mixed things... some good, some bad)
After that, I have the choice of heading back to Tangier for my return flight... or going down to Agadir (also a possible return flight) and extending my trip by 5 days :)
From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

Tickets for entry to Majorelle Garden are only issued online via an official site
(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address
AND a password (with confirmation). Is this normal?

I aimed for an excursion to the Chigaga desert from M’Hamid because it seems less touristy and allows for a more compact loop. Is that a good idea? Is the drive to M’Hamid maybe too tedious?

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

Do you know of any places around Marrakech, Ouarzazate, or Kelaat M’Gouna where we might have the chance to meet Gnawa musicians?

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.
For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.

Day 5: Hurghada, then drive to Luxor in the early afternoon

Day 7: Luxor, then drive back to Hurghada in the late afternoon

For the Hurghada trip, either rent a car or—easier—a private car/van.
Is it worth adding an extra day in Luxor?
