Hi there, We’re planning a two-week couple’s trip hopping between the Cape Verde islands at the end of November 2025. Our arrival and departure airport will be on the island of SAL. We’ve got some hikes lined up. Based on your experiences, what recommendations and suggestions do you have? Thanks in advance for your valuable tips!

Hi there, two weeks for all the islands is gonna be a rush. You’ll need to factor in boat or flight transport—not every day—and the weather. Sal isn’t ideally located, so it’s better to plan your return from the last island you visit.

Hi there, In 15 days, given how complicated inter-island transfers are here, I’d recommend visiting 3 islands—4 max. If you’re planning a multi-island trip, I’d also suggest considering flying into one island and out of another to avoid unnecessary inter-island transfers. This is possible with the "multi-city" or multi-destination option offered by airlines like TAP or Cabo Verde Airlines, for example.

As for choosing which islands, it really depends on your interests. But if you’re planning to hike, I’d *strongly* recommend spending several days on Santo Antão—it’s a hiker’s paradise. That means stopping in São Vicente as well. The island suffered major damage after Monday’s storm (11.08.2025). I’m not sure how much will be rebuilt by November, so you might want to stay a few days there or just pass through on your way to Santo Antão.

If you add Sal to the mix, you’ll get beach and sea activities. That’ll make 3 islands already. Marie

Hello, Thank you for your reply. We’ve changed our dates and narrowed it down to 15 days on the 4 leeward islands. I’ll start a thread about this. Best regards

Hi Frédéric, It’s a good start to limit your trip to 15 days. However, visiting all 4 "Leeward Islands" might be tricky because Brava and Maio are the least accessible: there are few transfers, whether by plane or ferry. And these are usually the first connections to get canceled if there’s any issue.

We spent a month in June-July visiting these islands, and we were really lucky not to get stuck in Brava (ferry delayed, canceled, rescheduled, canceled again, etc.). We still ended up spending 4 extra days there. But if you’re flexible, it could work out!
